I remember this case so well. My mother and I watched the entire trial on Court TV. My eyes well up with tears at the sight of Chancellor's beautiful face. His Angel fought for her life to save his. Cherica's mother is one of the strongest women I've ever seen. I pray her and Chancellor have a beautiful, long and healthy life ahead of them. The bastard who caused all of this should have gotten the same EXACT sentence Watkins got.

What a story. I never to much felt what a victim love one go through until watching this documentary.I did 27 years flat in the Texas penal system and I always thought that every one that claim to prison that told me they was innocent I believed them.Only because I was innocent for the crime of almost killing a police officer.

@@SpoofedTVadminChancellor's will to live and his grandmother's selfless love for her grandson will always be a source of pain for Rae until the day he dies - thats reaping what he sowed - the result of killing his son's mother and trying to kill his own son too - but Chancellor still rose above it, albeit with challenges - so did his grandmother too, both a reflection of what he took away from them both, her daughter, his mother. It will always haunt him, until the day he dies, nothing as painful as that.
Chancellor is so heartwarming. Hoping he’s here for many more years.

No...she fell in love with his fame and status, and probably got pregnant on purpose so she could say that she has a child by a famous, rich person and thought she would be payed millions in child support. That's why she was so quick to say EXACTLY who he was in her 911 call....stating his name, number, AND his team. There was NO relationship...just SEX, and she was just as irresponsible as he was. She had her eyes on his money, status and fame. Now, her mom is left with the overwhelming responsibility, and financial obligations and burden of taking care of him for life. And, she is doing exactly what she HAD to do. She is a victim too, and I just pray for her to live a happy, long, rich life and that the child will always be taken care of by someone who really loves him.... NOT Rae Carruth!!
Unfortunately the commentor above is right … i lived in Carolina and ran with some of these women and athletes back in the mid 90’s a lot these women went for these guys it was a crew of Carolina girls that went for these athletes and entertainers they danced in clubs and videos or just ran the street and club life a few common names could be dropped but now it doesn’t even matter a lot if the women moved on from that lifestyle but dating like that it was the rave then and now but unfortunately it’s sad she fell into this life style … she didn’t deserve it though not at all

@@cc-hg3cj For you to make that accusation, you would have to know them both personally. Regardless of what you believe the motive was, Rae was involved in some sort of relationship with Cherica. It is obviously she had feelings for him and he was sleeping with her and taking her out, so she probably thought their relationship was more than what it actually was. She is not at fault for anything that happened to her, real men do not go around killing their pregnant girlfriends, to avoid paying child support. He was a coward and the reason why she gave as much information as she could about him is because she knew that she was dying, and wanted to make sure that the person responsible was caught. The fact that she was able to give so much detail after being shot five times was a miracle.

I agree with you 100%. I use to be exactly like Cherica’s mom & still am in a way because I, too, have learned how to forgive those you hurt me. But what made me change is when I got into a relationship with a narcissist in 2017. Prior to him, I use to believe that all people were redeemable. But now I’ve gained a 3rd eye. I now see the world for it is. There are people who do good & there are people who do evil. I have never heard Ray Curruth publicly say “I attempted to kill Cherika & my unborn child & I’m truly sorry”. He will never utter these words because he’s a narcissist & a narcissist will never believe that they are wrong. The closest Ray Curruth has ever said is that “I’m sorry for the loss of your daughter”. This statement is not an admission of guilt. In fact, anyone can see these words, so he’s not standing out by saying that. I thank God for allowing my ex to come into my life in 2017 because if not I would still be naive til this day. Now I’m more cautious about who I allow to come into my life. I know the signs of narcissistic personality disorder & trust me I can spot a narcissist a mile away. Finally I’m starting to see this world how God sees it & not through my prior rose-colored lens.

I have a son that had a asthma attack when he was 2 & the oxygen was cut off to his brain as well. To this day he is special needs, mrdd he's non verbal but can cuss real good. God has watched over him & his been through so much. He's 36 years old today. And loves church.

My heart broke listening to the 911 call that Cherica made during the time she was shot!! That GrandMother is one Powerful woman she’s full of compassion, love & forgiveness. I was in damn tears 😭 knowing that someone could be so cruel that they would kill the mother of their child. Rae Curruth is gonna have to live with what he did for the rest of his life.
Instead of him looking at his son as a blessing from his own bloodline, he looked at him as a financial challenge, when he still would've had plenty of money to live comfortably. Even though this was such an horrific tragedy. I would say even though the shooter at the time Had a cold heart on the flip side deep down inside he really had a warm heart to write a letter and apologize for what he did even though it will not bring the mother of the child back but look what she left behind a handsome young fella that is striving to do daily task that’s easy for some of us to do every day. He the son , grandson is a blessing. Look how happy he is while his mother his the ANGEL watches over him and grandma to live on . Oh what a blessing.
Anyone can apologize that doesn't change what happened, evil that its like racism, its in the DNA, he's not sorry, he came out still saying they didn't gave a relationship, it was just sex, so wt that mindset, shows his arragance till this day, some evil, is so deep, only the most high can fix it, evil is evil.

Saundra Adams is Ms. Amazing. How did Cherica's father let her get away. She's every good man dream. God bless her for her faith, resolve, and her perspective on life and humanity. Watching this has finally cleared up why he was never convicted of 1st or 2nd degree murder. How Van Bret Watkins got more than double the sentence of Rae Carruth. Finally I got the answer. The district attorney dropped the ball. They never considered 2nd degree murder, and 1 juror didn't agree with 1st degree murder. So in a sense justice fell short.
Grandma still gives Rae Carruth his props for the strength that’s in Chancellor. What a woman!
He should have gotten life in prison.
