Abhishek Sth I think the lyric is leather messiah, one of David Bowie’s roadies was asked to dictate the albums lyrics to a secretary at Gems offices in Regent street in 1972, he said he always heard it as like a leper messiah but he later realised that the lyric sheet words were like a leather messiah, which makes more sense. Also in Rock n roll suicide he recited it as wall to wall is calling, but on quick handwritten lyrics by David Bowie , David wrote “water-wall’s calling” (I’ve seen a photo of the handwritten lyrics, google Rock n roll suicide lyrics and it should come up) anyway now every time I listen to many different versions I can so clearly hear that he is singing water wall now.ruclips.net/video/WXrI7XOyz081/видео.html6:46 16 minutes 46, but the Bowie part starts at 13:16
@@knotty1701 hi, I’ve found the Robin Mayhew interview where he says it ruclips.net/video/WXrI7XOyz081/видео.html6.46 he says it at 16 mins 46 seconds, but the Bowie bit starts at 13 mins 16 seconds, the whole interview is good though
To me growing up in the 70's in the UK the man was a literal God! I remember walking along a beach here in Essex during those wonderful summers we had back in the day with "Drive in Saturday" going round & round in my head! Now....... the guy is all but unknown by most people under 35 - such a shame!
Certainly as someone who lived through all three decades in the UK & was a teen in the latter two, the 70's was a the best time for music but the 80's was a good time to be alive generally - The UK was a very prospourous country back then & everyone had money & was having a great time. Mind you, when you are 17, good looking, & know the people it's good to know ANY time is a good time to be alive! The 60's had some amazing sounds but the UK was still suffering from the financial & physical effects of WW2 & was still quite a grey & depressing place. The 80's had some decent music although thinking about it, a lot of the stuff I listened to came from overseas - bands like the amazing "Rush" & "Talking Heads." Probably one of our greatest song writers came out of this era - Mr. Paul Weller. His band "The Jam" were rightly HUGE for a time.
Bowie.. was a legend before he even passed away... there is NO ONE on this Earth (or Mars) that can compare, be compared to, or will ever for the entirety of Earth's life that will come close, or hold a candle to Mr. Bowie's sound, voice, and uniqueness. May you rest in peace, sir. And thank you for all the gifts (your music) you've given to us... we are forever indebted to you. Love you. Bowie is never dead, as long as we share him and keep him alive through our children!

great rock track, and great song about david bowie's wonderful creation of ziggy stardust, david bowie a pure genius and no one can take away his magic.
When I was a tween in the early 80's, I hated this type of music. It was too complex, esoteric and it sounded "messy". Now that I'm older, it's pretty fucking good.
There were a LOT of dare I say it, mostly girls, here in the UK that thought & STILL think the same! I've given up with my wife now, anything that it is not manufactured by some record company for instant fame & riches or has a disco beat to it immediately gets the distinction of - "Giving her a headache" & has to be turned off! her loss!
7000th comment. I wasn't around for Bowie's golden age (I'm an 04 kid.) But I do enjoy his music. I'm very much regretful I didn't get into his music until after he passed. Forever in the stars, Ziggy.
David Bowie has hundreds of songs that are truly unique. Even his later music is full of valuable jewels. He lives today through his mastery of music. R.I.P.
There are a lot of great bands. A lot of them are not around anymore, so thank you RUclips for letting all of us listen to all these classic hits. I give it both thumbs up.
I can’t believe i didn’t get into Bowie until now. I freaking love rocky horror and all of these songs give me major rocky horror vibes and it makes me happy happy

Some lovely images here, was there ever a more beautiful creature to grace this earth? Bought this album in 1973 I was 12 🤓 Still got it, along with all the others. Brilliant. Music has kept me sane through lockdown. Thanks

And The Spiders from Mars
He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man
Then we were Ziggy's Band
[Verse 2]
Ziggy really sang
Screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo
Like some cat from Japan
Oh he could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave 'em to hang
He came on so loaded man,
Well hung, snow white tan
[Chorus 1]
So where were the spiders
While the fly tried to break our balls?
Just the beer light to guide us
So we bitched about his fans
And should we crush his sweet hands?
[Verse 3]
Oh yeah
Ziggy played for time
Jiving us that we were Voodoo
The kids was just crass
He was the naz
With God-given ass
He took it all too far
But boy could he play guitar
[Chorus 2]
Making love with his ego
Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper messiah
When the kids had killed a man
I had to break up the band
Oh yeah
Oooh
Oh hohoo
[Outro]
Ziggy played guitar
Thank you so much. I appreciate it 🖤
You are Stupendous ! Thank You !

Glad to hear it Chad! maybe you could encourage a few of your British cousins of the same age to do the same!
i wish i was a teenager in the 70s and 80s
John Dwyer don't worry, i'm 18 now, and for 4 years , i've managed to convert 6 people to listen more to david bowie ;)
John Dwyer I'm 16 and from England and I have a group that are mainly into older music such as Bowie and we play it all the time on school fields
Bowie is a rock n roll legend that none of us will ever forget.
Another Legend passed away. What a sad news. RIP David Bowie!
This is our last dance.
I'm numb. R.I.P. Bowie. Thanks for the memories.
Such a beautiful man and amazing talent the world lost way too soon. His music will live on forever. But the loss still hurts those who remember....
Bowie.. was a legend before he even passed away... there is NO ONE on this Earth (or Mars) that can compare, be compared to, or will ever for the entirety of Earth's life that will come close, or hold a candle to Mr. Bowie's sound, voice, and uniqueness. May you rest in peace, sir. And thank you for all the gifts (your music) you've given to us... we are forever indebted to you.
Love you.
Bowie is never dead, as long as we share him and keep him alive through our children!

It was a reference to Jimmy Hendricks from my memory.
Ziggy Played Guitar, and although hes gone he will always be playing in my heart.
R.I.P Ziggy
great rock track, and great song about david bowie's wonderful creation of ziggy stardust, david bowie a pure genius and no one can take away his magic.
Pure masterpiece. Full of self-indulgence, ego, and reality. Perfect.
When I was a tween in the early 80's, I hated this type of music. It was too complex, esoteric and it sounded "messy". Now that I'm older, it's pretty fucking good.
There were a LOT of dare I say it, mostly girls, here in the UK that thought & STILL think the same! I've given up with my wife now, anything that it is not manufactured by some record company for instant fame & riches or has a disco beat to it immediately gets the distinction of - "Giving her a headache" & has to be turned off! her loss!
Deep Heat I would've divorced her (jk)

+MookieMog well said 😭
7000th comment.
+WorldsBestDesigner Spot on man. Great comment.
This guy was an Archetype, cannot be imitated, cannot be replicated
I cried the day he died, now I cry when I hear his music, his legacy that lives on. One helluva' man, musician, artist!
There are a lot of great bands. A lot of them are not around anymore, so thank you RUclips for letting all of us listen to all these classic hits. I give it both thumbs up.

artists(magicians, poets) never die they inspire mankind to realise latent potentialities, they make their entire lives a beacon of hope. I hear you star man. I will reach for such heights and in the end I will die but it will be all worth it. Inspiration. Ziggy played guitar.
I refuse to believe that David Bowie is dead. I'm just gonna assume that the starship enterprise beamed him up and took him back to his home planet. It's fun to dream...
He is a starman somewhere in the sky. He just doesn´t want us to know because he thinks it would blow our minds
Look up Neil Gaiman's 'The Return of the Thin White Duke'. That's right - Neil Gaiman wrote David Bowie fanfic.
@@miarencrowsdaughter6434 Of course Gaiman would do something like that. And I bet it's a fucking good fanfiction, i've read some of his books and i have to say that he's great writer. Thanks for the info, I'll need to read it :)
Mr. Glabaladubeestu it is awesome to dream.....
