    So glad you've covered this topic Al. I've recently been making isometrics the greatest percentage of my training plan. It used to be about 80% dynamic and 20% isometric and have flipped that ratio around. But yes, movement is always key. Plus it's just a heck of a lot more fun!

      Hey Matt..just finished your Overcoming Isometrics book..what a gem..just the chapter on neuromuscular adaptation was worth the cost ..I now use a laser like focus when doing the isometrics and feel the difference..thank you..also just read Dragon Door's Ultimate Isometrics book and looking forward to ordering my Iso Chain..I used isometrics now and again, but now , more convinced than ever that it will be the bulk of my training..your review on the Iso Chain pushed me over the edge ! btw..I am 66 yrs young and feel like a 30 yr old..thanks again

      Any progress you noticed since including isometrics?
      And what happened?
      Thank you :)

    Isometric split squats combined with push up holds in the low position is possibly the best isometric tandem I've tried for muscle. Throw in some hollow body holds and you'll get a great workout in a minimalist structure.

  • @transguywithmultiplesclero5406

    Great video :) Thx for talking about the timings for holds.

    I like handstand holds for shoulders. I'm at 1 min 30 sec trying to work up to 2 minute holds. Not sure if that builds muscle, but it sure seems to help injured shoulders get healthy again!

    Really great video Al. I’ve actually been looking into incorporating isometrics, but I’m thinking that it should best be used as a supplement, Not an Overall core actio

    Been going through your street workout book and am curious to lose some fat, build strength and at least maintain muscle (perhaps build a little bit but not in the body builder way) is the circuit workout effective? Or would a split with some interval training be good as well to build strength/muscle?

    I don't enjoy doing dumbbell internal and external rotations to keep my rotator cuffs strong. Can I replace these with ring pushups since the instability of the rings will strengthen the rotators?

    When I go to Jim to do my strength training routines, I never seem to have time for abs. They were completely neglected as a focus point so about two months ago, I decided to do a two minute plank every single morning. After two months, I definitely don’t have a six pack, but I do notice additional definition and cut on either side of my stomach. I’m going to keep this two minute plank thing in my routine..

    Great info -- quick question: "Do you speak to semi-deaf ESL elderly people a lot?"
    I worked with elderly and would find my self using a slow very deliberate exaggerated enunciation speech type.

    • @alkavadlo
      @alkavadlo  Год назад +2

      I actually used to be an ESL teacher a long time ago! But the reason I speak slowly in my videos is more because a lot of my viewers are not native English speakers. I actually get a lot of comments thanking me for my deliberate delivery, though others find it bothersome.
