Finally another CS major who had no experience before college! I had no experience besides what I knew from my boyfriend (aka not enough to be able to write my own program) and I am soooo grateful that I have him because starting Java off made no sense to me. Like wtf is the difference between primitive and non primitive types? I know that now but at the time I was so lost lmao. I take my second exam next week, got a 102 on my first one thanks to a 10 point bonus. my professor marked an answer wrong for me writing "integer" instead of int like u know damn well im not typing integer number = 1; gimme the fucking point
I am going to go into cs field next year at university abroad and Would you recommend me to learn anything or what should I learn before starting my studies this fall. Btw I am familiar with any programming languages and related stuffs. Lastly can you suggest any online courses as well? The ones which are courses in the city are very expensive. Cheers✌️
tural kazimli Having previous coding experience really helps a lot especially if you are going taking CS1. I struggled a lot because this was my first time programming but for the kids in my class that have coded before it was an easy A for them. I would recommend finding out what language the course you’re going to be taking teaches in and going over the fundamentals of that language. And I don’t have any online coding experience but I found that RUclips tutorials on questions that you have help out a lot. Good luck!
On the scale of 1 to 10 , how much mathematics is involved in computer science? Please let me know coz am going to select CS .... But i am weak in maths.... Awesome vlog bro thumbs up!
Thanks and math is a big part of the major I guess. Programming is a lot of algorithms when learning the fundamentals and my major requires up to calc 2 for math and then it goes on to classes like discrete math and assembly
@@ColtKirwan I'd like to add to your comment for Tech - if you start out CS with a diploma you won't be involved with any AP math classes, *but* when you transfer to the degree you will be required to take what Colt says
i know this is a really stUPID question-but like im a girl and ive never really played any game and seeing all these cs students be real good gamers makes me wonder if playing games is important to be a computer science student? like will that help you with anything? or is it nothing more than just a hobby?
Up to you as a kid I personally liked playing video games so naturally I’m ok when picking up a game but I don’t really play video games at all in college. Before I bought a switch this March I didn’t really do much gaming at all and I still just play with like Anas from the video and my roommate.

Hey bro Nice video I love it. Ps: any advice, I'm going to college this year to get my Canadian diplomat. I wanna go into computer but I m not really to sure and I don't have any programming knowledge
Not having any programming knowledge shouldn't scare you away from trying it out! College is about learning about yourself and what you want to pursue as a career in the future. I struggled at first but I also wasn't prepared and you saw in the video that once I applied myself, I started to succeed a lot more. I recommend that if you're interested in computer science to take some free courses on websites like code academy and see what language you'd be learning at your university. The great thing about computer science is that you can find a lot of the material online and if you start teaching yourself the basics now, I guarantee you that you'll have a way easier time transitioning to college unlike I had.
Sorry for the late response. RUclips only notifies me when a new comment is posted not a reply to an existing one. In my experience my degree needs for you to complete natural science credits which is physics, chem, bio, or geology. My school lets my choose what I want to do so if you like chem then go for it but I don’t like chem so I’m not going to take it. I also didn’t come to college with any science credit.
Yes it’s CS1 so it’s an intro class and my first ever programming class. A lot of people in my class had previous experience so they found this class easy
Colt Kirwan 🤔🤔 that is quite interesting. I recently just finished 1301, the introductory class to CS and java. I’m about to go to 1302, and it seem like your college is learning more than us. Like my college knows arrays but not arraylist. I guess it’s time for me to switch schools 😅😅😅

bakr 2000 I'd say that there is nothing wrong that you are doing. As a college student you need to make money somehow until you have the skill to get an internship or a job. In the mean time keep working that job until you land an internship or a job but if you get sick of it and quit, take your new found free time to practice coding, learn new things, and work on project for your portfolio to better market yourself when trying to apply to places.
