It's a racket. Always has been Since 1991 and is obviously a government hand dipped racket. That killed the hobby to profit off of robbing people. I sent the same card to 3 different grading companies just for kicks. Got it back all different grades, then cracked the slab sent the same card back to the same company and again all different grades again. Meanwhile if a 52 mantle was in someones hand with a creese or fray corner noone would care and still sell for whatever. I know I woundnt care. Catch my drift? Cards sell for the right value to the right buyer who actually loves the hobby, player, sport or character. Who the fuck are you and where you get the nerve (government helped or not) to charge US PEOPLE 20-75$ OR MORE A FKN CARD!?*FOR OUR OWN CARDS!? AND THEN YOU GIVE NO REASONS FOR THE GRADE BACK TO THE CUSTOMER!!! Experienced eye appeal and simple answer is all a card needs. Someone who knows what its worth by simple eye appeal. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell if a card is in good condition. Why would someone pay 20-75$ or more to tell you something that you already know lol. Not this sucker lol. Only an idiot does. And then grading companies talk trash about other grading companies that charge less because they like to be fair with their customers and do it for the right reasons . With how things are today with social media, everyone connected, grading companies will be obsolete in the future and companies like PSA( pretty stupid answers) will be on a decline business wise. Nope ... PSA is out. I don’t like how they handle the cards and without gloves they have no chance with me. My Rookie Joe Montana should grade 9.5 or 10 and seeing this video concerned me. Some cards are worth 10s of thousands of dollars, and generally look to be handled poorly based on this video. I expected to see gloves and wood tweezers to move the card for any reason. I don’t see gentle handling at any point, and when the card is placed in the protective cover he used finger tips to slide it into place ... finger prints! Treat the high dollars cards with more care.

  • @davidcoon6455
    @davidcoon6455 5 лет назад +13

    Sure didn’t look like that Sandy Koufax was “Carefully placed within the holder” to me...the guy dropped the card down in the vicinity of the holder, then slid the card into the “slot”, potentially causing the card edges to get stuck momentarily and/or causing the card to be damaged, especially the lower left corner of that card. If the lower left hand corner caught onto one of the raised edges of the case, that Koufax would potentially be damaged in that corner to an extent that would definitely be noticeable...NOT the way I would be showing off how “carefully” the cards are placed into the slabs...

      Hello Wesley. One thing I would like to point out is that I posted this in 2009 and I think it was a few years old when I posted it so things may have changed, MAYBE. To be honest I have always been told that cards pre 1983 are best done by PSA and post 1983 to send them to Beckett. I do not like PSA because I think they hand out way to many 10's where Beckett does not seem to hand out nearly as many so I prefer to deal with them. I do have a few PSA but the other reason I prefer Beckett is that their slabs (Cases they encase your card in) seem to be much more substantial than PSA's slabs. By the time I got done with Beckett I think 2 or 3 cards total with fees, mailing there and back, insurance there and back came to between $40-$60 I have not submitted any in about 4-6 years though. My uncle has that same card by the way, though I am not a baseball fan at all I can still appreciate the card and it's history though. I wish you the best of luck and please whatever you decide post back here and let me know how it turned out.

    I can understand how most people are frustrated with PSA because they feel as if the grades they received were undeserved but my problem with them lies with their poor customer service, inconsistencies with turnaround times and they never take ownership of an issue on their end when it arises. They are basically arrogant and after using SGC once for comparison? I will never use PSA again. I wish I had used SGC to begin with as they were professional and engaging from day one.

    • @DamageInc86

      I just wish the secondary grading companies' cards held more value. I was going to go with BGS or SGC, but even with high grades, the cards just don't sell for as much. They weren't first to market, and for some reason I guess, people just don't put as much value on their cards.

I asked why and the guy said they will not take my cards because they like to take the $100.00 cards before they take mine. But once they catch up they will start taking our cards, but for now they will

    Do you need a clear sleeve in order to send off a card?

    • @bpnsirdiealot

      +B Jaffe I have not actually dealt with PSA to be honest with you, but I see in the video and also know that Beckett requires you to put it in a penny sleeve and then in the clear card holder II which I do not like at all. I actually bend a card packing it because of one of those.

    Watched this video with interest. Noticed some discrepencies in handling as well as another viewer. Shouldn't all the dust or any loose debris be vaccumed off the cards front and back before being sealed into the plastic case. Ever notice the dust floating in the air...

      Personally I use Beckett because I think that PSA hands out to many 10's I have seen so many PSA 10's in a set yet not even a third as many BGS 10's and the BGS 10's always sell for more unless it is a pre 1980 card.

    so in the beginning of the video Joe talks about the cards having any identifying information removed before the grading process to avoid bias. but if you watch the video on the "lucky 7 find" of T206 Ty Cobb's he talks about how he knew the cards were coming in and was there for their arrival and walked them to the grading floor personally for authentication and grading. not saying he showed bias but don't you think it's possible bias happens. another example is the 1954 Hank Aaron from the Dimitri Young collection that was not graded a gem 10 until Dimitri submitted the card for the 3Rd time for consideration of it being bumped from a PSA 9 to a PSA10? Because everyone who has seen the card knows it lack the 'eye appeal" of most PSA10 cards b/c of centering. Sure PSA allows a margin on centering even on a Gem Mint 10 grade but why was this margin not given the first 2 times Dimitri submitted the card for grading? Bias, possible? Everybody at PSA has to recognize it good for business to have the best cards slabbed in a PSA holder. Just like the Wagner card that has now become to be known to be trimmed in an early interview the owner of PSA boost about how he is one of the few people in the world to examine the Wagner under magnification and how good it was for PSA to have the best of the best slabbed serial number 1 in a PSA holder? So does PSA sometimes show bias in certain situations?? Guess only they know for sure. All that said I still have all cards graded only by them because let's face it a PSA certified card bring the most $$ on resale

    • @bpnsirdiealot
      @bpnsirdiealot  7 лет назад

      I agree with everything except your last line, I see Beckett bring more money on just about everything post 1983 but PSA brings more pre 1983 Personally I will not buy a PSA card anymore, I think they hand out way to many 10's and to card that do not deserve them. Just my opinion.

    so disappointed with psa thisbwas my first time sending cards tobget graded i send 2 1986 micheal jordan rookie auto that i obtained at flight camp they send my cards ungraded saying not authentic and they lost my upper deck certificates ... couldn't help me in any way now i have my cards with no certificate...

    • @dean529
      @dean529 7 лет назад +1

      That might be the problem... The Jordan rookie (i assume its the fleer one) was not a rookie auto, but rather a base rookie. It is also the most duplicated card on the market. For every authentic one, there are probably 10 fakes.

    I used psa to authenticate a Hank Aaron auto card that I bought from qvc authenticated by scoreboard.I sent it in and got my card back saying the authenticator wasnt comfortable with the auto.WTF!!.So they sent it back with a company credit but still ripped me off like $18 on shipping.That's their job to authenticate autographs!.Choose jsa or Beckett!!..

    • @tubemaniac206
      @tubemaniac206 5 лет назад

      QVC scoreboard authenticated doesn't mean its guranteed the real thing.

    • @cheddarcheese7928
      @cheddarcheese7928 5 лет назад

      I agree.Honestly anything not autographed in person is up to at least a small bit of scrutiny.But I think my card should have been judged on it's own merit.It's their job to authenticate autos.That's what they're paid to do.So why should a person be uncomfortable?.I've been using jsa ever since and have no complaints.Which sucks because honestly psa is more recognized.And usually commands a higher value...

    • @tubemaniac206
      @tubemaniac206 5 лет назад +1

      i'm thinking the person grading was uncomfortable putting a stamp of approval because he saw things in the autograph that wasn't consistent to his older autographs. the grader wasn't 100% sure of the authenticity. many times, sportstars have one of their relatives do all the signings.

    • @cheddarcheese7928
      @cheddarcheese7928 5 лет назад

      freddieman c Your probably right.It was just kinda disappointing in general.I mean if it failed at least that would have been something.Funny u should mention relatives maybe doing some signings.I recently got two Wilson Ramos insert autos from his rookie year.The signatures look totally different.I wonder if there was ever a case where that has happened on a insert card?.I looked into it a little and came up with nothing.But people being people it probably has happened sometime I would guess.That could ruin the hobby.Or at least put a dent in it...

    @tnic469 - Well it would be fraud to claim you are a professional in a field where there is established qualities that would make someone a professional. Card grading would not be one of those fields. A professional could also be someone who makes a livelihood being paid to do something that alot of amateurs do for nothing. That would actually fit perfectly in this case. Nothing wrong I see here in calling themselves professionals.
