You have a grounding issue. When the car gets hot/warmed up, resistance goes up. If you have to high resistance, the module will turn off. Your module is working because the voltage is dropping.

Your second test didn't prove anything, and didn't need to be done. Your first test was fine, other than the module needs to be out of the distributor.

Hate to tell you this but.... It is not defective. You have a ground issue. Check resistance from the breaker plate to the Negative battery post. You should have 0 ohms resistance. ( or about ) If you have high resistance then start searching for as ground issue. But the test you performed shows a voltage drop. Just like it is supposed to do. So the module is still good.

Meant to ad this, yes OP, do a continuity check from the plate the module sits on, to the negative terminal on battery, not coil, battery, when everything is installed back on the car.

Hi guys. Thanks for the suggestions. I currently have the distributor out and the car runs fine after I reinstalled the old contact point distributor. I did test continuity from the plate the ignitor sits on to the distributor body which is what grounds to the engine block. The battery for this car is mounted at the back and has a newly made ground strap out of 00 gauge welding cable to the chassis when I rewired it. The engine block to chassis grounds look OK but i'll give them a once over and test the resistance from the block to the battery.
