I so remember myself, my brother and sister taking a bus to downtown Austin, Texas, to watch this classic movie at the historic then movie theater The Paramount..in those days admission was I believe 35 cents..we would get our refreshments with what little we had left from what our beloved mother gave us to go see a movie..I was the youngest of us and in certain scenes as a child of 11, covering my eyes because it was scary to me..those were the days that I will hold close to my heart, how my mom, even though as a single parent raising 5 children, giving exactly 1.50 to the three youngest to go see a movie in downtown Austin..yes, movies like this takes me back to those days..thank you mama, may you rest in heavenly peace..❤
HHSC is such a deliciously dark Southern Gothic melodrama and thriller. I like it as much as Bette's other gem, "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" 💜 Big applause for Olivia DeHaviland and Agnes Moorehead and Joseph Cotten for their stellar work (and Bette Davis, natch). I really should dig the DVD out of the ol' crypt and watch this again.
This was top notch acting ! the Best of Hollywood was in this film ... Olivia DeHavilland was so beautiful and classy.... perfect fit in this movie....
One of my favorite movies of all time! Such a great cast and excellent acting! Wonderful film. Olivia De Havilland and Bette Davis made a surprise personal appearance at the movie theater during intermission. What a thrill!! I'll never forget it!!
Loved this. I love this kind of stuff. Did anybody notice the date on the slate board? 9-17-'64. That was the series premiere of Bewitched which co-starred Miss Morehead.
To think this was filmed after baby Jane.. Bette looks much younger/pretty than she did as Jane.. .. it just amazing how far she went to make good pictures.. Best actress ever 💙
my favorite part of this movie is when the photographer surprises her at the beginning of the movie by taking her picture, when she is dressed in the ratty old gown with her hair a mess, and she screams. He looks so pleased. then at the end, when she realizes that her long nightmare is over, and she is dressed in a new outfit, with her hair and face immaculate, the same photographer surprises her and takes her picture, but this time she poses happily, and he has the same response.
stephen groce you can't be friends with someone who only exists on camera...Bette said Joan had to be alone to prepare for each scene...she treated others like servants...bette treated others as equals. When she realized joan was using these illnesses as attention seeking tactics she sniped i thought christian scientists DONT get sick...crawford repaired to the hospital and aldrich got rid of her because he didnt want to pay the hospital bill. Dehavallind was more mature about dealing with davis...she didnt run and hide in a hospital
As great as Bette and Olivia and Joseph were in this film, my favorite performance was Agnes Morehead as Velma. Like Bette Davis she wasn't afraid to not look her best when portraying a character. She looked very similar to Velma when she did the classic Twighlight Zone episode where she played an old woman living alone in a shack and encounters a spaceship of tiny men that turns out to be US astronauts and she is the one living on another planet.
I love this movie so much, its in my top 5 all time favorite movies list.
What I would give to see the unused Joan Crawford footage
It's apparently Joan in the taxi, opening credits
I have always loved this movie and I always cry at the end.
Love this Movie. Saw it when it first played in movie theaters.

❤️❤️❤️ THIS!!!
Aldrich really was a wizard among movie makers, he could direct anything and anybody. And Joseph Cotton had one of the all time great voices.
So interesting. Thanks for posting.

The other stars are the 1964 Buick Electra 225 s. Brilliant Product Placement.
Yes and I had a '64 Le Sabre 4 dr, hard-top in silver
Feud: Bette and John brought me here!

Bette and Olivia 🥺💖
Joan hospitalised: She was sick alright-sick of Bette Davis..
The 1964 Buick Electra 225s were also Stars of the Show ! Oh for the days when America built the Worlds Best Cars.
Joseph Cotton sounds like Vincent Price in this promo.
Thanks
Starting at 4:22, you can see Olivia's son, Benjamin Goodrich, walking with her. He died way too young.
Olivia de Havilland is love
Joseph Cotten's voice- so perfect.

That's very observant of you, indeed. It's one of the few movies I can watch over and over
Joan 😢
Modern horror movies have too much gore, violence and gratuitous nudity and sex. This film relied on atmosphere and suggestion to set a sinister mood.
joan and betty so sad......could have been friends.

later in life Bette said working with Faye Dunaway, made her miss Crawford, so in a way she was her friend

She was also appearing on Bewitched as Endora at the same time - the epitome of glamour.
Esta es muy buena pell grscias
velma
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER MOVIE WITH JOAN CRAWFORD
It's Joe Cotton narrating
2:36
Charlotte pales in comparison to
Baby Jane.
