- Feud (2017), starring Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange, explores the legendary rivalry between Hollywood icons Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. The show delves into their tumultuous relationship during the filming of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and beyond. This video compares the series' dramatized scenes with real-life events from both actresses' careers, examining the accuracy of their portrayal and how their personal and professional struggles shaped their enduring feud.
I missed the movie Beyond the Forest. :(
And it's "march", not "marh", sorry.
+Dimitri thank you so much for putting this together, great work.
thanks! :)
As Osgood from "Some Like it Hot said "Well, nobody's perfect"
You did a good job anyways!
That movie is such a "dumppppp!" Lol
..
it's ironic; Susan made Bette look far younger than in reality, while Jessica made Joan look far older!
Derek Bates yup
Funny, because Susan was 20 years older then Bette was in the movie.
@@ShadowSonic2 Yet she looks a lot younger, it's interesting.
Susan was 70 playing Bette in her 50s. WOW.
I agree!
Two things come to mind throughout while watching this: The tremendous task Murphy set himself up with choosing to recreate so many film clips and real life events shot-for-shot AND the effort it must've taken you to collect all of these clips and then edit and align them so. While watching the series I found myself pausing the video and comparing to RUclips clips before I stumbled onto this, LOL.
It means he copied everything and did nothing original. It's a horrible pastiche job. He is tasteless.
none and you're worthless what have you done keyboard warrior
It's absolutely mesmerizing how accurate the show was. Sarandon and Lange performed the roles perfectly, they are 2 of the best actresses I've seen.
Susan Sarandon's performance is outstanding. What a great and beautiful actress she is. She should get more recognition.
She brought Bette back to life for the duration of the series.
Nobody can BE Bette Davis - there was something about her that can be imitated, but never replicated. You feel it when Bette comes onscreen in those old movies - BAM.
Susan had some hella shoes to fill. And she got damn close. I am profoundly impressed.

No shade to Meryl Streep but for me Susan Sarandon,Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates are my “Meryl Streep’s” such phenomenal actresses. I prefer them to Meryl any day and they don’t get as much hype. Although glad Jessica is getting the hype she deserves in recent years.
Me: where’s Joan Crawford?
Bette: on the beach........DEAD!
lol ok
This is a fabulous compilation, makes me appreciate the series even more. But I think Jessica Lange would've looked more like Joan if they'd done more dramatic eyebrows, the way Crawford's were in her older years.
thanks! :)
JR I agree. I thought Jessica's eyebrows weren't scary enough. The makeup artist in Mommie Dearest got it right.
Jessica Lange is far more beautiful than Joan Crawford.
Now that I think of it, when Feud spotlighted Trog, Joan/Jessica looked more like Janet Leigh.
Right? The brows would have made a WHOLE difference (well i think) even tho I still loved it
Sarandon singing "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" on Andy William's show was hysterically accurate!
AND cringeworthy
Nawt at TALLLL. She couldn't even smile.
Except Sarandon singing badly is much more tuneful than Davis ever was. Davis singing voice made your ears bleed!😖
@@nonenoneonenonenone Susan was suffering from an injured foot at the time so she was in a lot of pain
jessica and susan were both phenomenal in this. Disappointing to see so many "who did it better" comments. They were remarkable. Both. Jessica and Joans voice tones are completely different, which is noticeable, but she made HER version the way she could pull it off. Susan is a little more feminine in her bette. I'm sure both ladies if alive would have been happy with who played them.
I'm still devastated this season is over. "Feud" was amazing! Great work!
Watching this edit gives you an even greater appreciation for Feud and its commitment to authenticity.
I can't remember when I've enjoyed a television mini-series as much as this one. Kudos to the entire cast, chosen with obvious care. I particularly enjoyed the "Mamacita" and Jack Warner characters, they really made the show come alive. And Jessica Lange really had her hands full after the superb Faye Dunaway originated the role, but she filled her shoes, admirably. It seems the older Lange gets, the better she gets.
These are remarkable film sequences, thanks for sharing!!
you welcome! :)
Faye Dunaway was horrible, even she is ashamed of her performance.
+Ivo Stoyanov
I thought she was great. She was supposed to play a self-serving bitch, not the Queen of England. The performance may have been over the top, but the entire production was clearly produced that way.
"Mommie Dearest" is iconic enough that people think it's factual (it isn't), and who doesn't love Faye in Bonnie & Clyde? But the fact still remains that she was unprofessional and a major pain in the ass to work with. What you saw in Feud was the tip of the unprofessional iceberg.
To me, this is Ryan Murphy's greatest achievement. Sue & Jess are beyond exceptional but when Ryan is constricted to a story with an actual ending from real events, he soars
that guy doing Sinatra is spot on!
It's the same guy that does cotton hill
This is INCREDIBLE! I've been so obessed with this series - today I watched the original Baby Jane and Mildred Pierce and All about Eve. Great job - thank you so much!
you welcome! :)
I wish they still made movies even a fraction as good as All About Eve! No special effects, just hella plot, dialogue, and acting!
*1:11** "Christ, this is painful." I ROFL, Bette talking about her daughters acting!!!*
Thank you Ryan Murphy for creating my wonderful little indulgence weekly with " Feud " . Everything about it was just delicious from beginning to end . I smell another Emmy for the show and for Ms Lang not to mention Art direction / set design . Thanks also for Dimitri Bitu for pains taking in creating this scene comparison video ... brilliant
you welcome
and I hope too that this show gets all the awards. they nailed and they did with much care to the material
The scene recreations are my favorite thing. There are subtle differences but for the most part, the attention to detail is incredible.
Amazing edit! I'm impressed you managed to collect all clips from all these movies in good quality, as well synchronize them with Feud clips :)
thanks :)
Dimitri Bitu thanks I'm really impressed too, i loved the show! So accurate! Great job
thanks :)
Cezary Sykut they are in Better quality everywhere i...
Absolutely my thought. Great Work! Thank you for doing this!
Awesome! I love this mini series, and I hope it gets award recognition. Jessica Lange deserves an Emmy for her performance.
Thanks for this! Bette didn't look as uncomfortable in the actual roast as they depicted in the show.
you welcome
they tried to put a good spin on their relationship in the last episode
but I never watched any interview or read anything that supports that Bette tried to be friends with Joan
Bette laughed out loud during her whole Roast, she wasn't uncomfortable at all
She wasn't - I watched a good portion of that roast. She seemed to be a good sport about it. I don't know why they slanted it that way for the series.
And the Kay Medford segmant was cute and Bette seemed to take it in good heart. ;)
Neither were god humans? really? They were actresses, what on earth did either do to be labelled 'not good humans'?
I think they were both deeply flawed (both put their career before the children they already had, both had their eldest child reject them, both were raging alcoholics [Joan moreso than Bette] and both felt they were owed something by a business that has always chewed up and spit out stars) and because of that, both had good and bad
Thank you for this! It's quite a treat :) So much, too much has been said about how Jessica didn't look enough like Joan or she could have done this better, Susan could have done that better...But who really could have played these two legends better? Because it wasn't just in the face. They embodied these icons and brought to life their emotions and personas from the inside out in a way that can only be described as genius!
you welcome! :)
Patricia Clarkson and Glenn Close for one, Meryl Streep, any number of real actresses!
What a rare treat this was, just watched every episode back to back, amazing.
Dimitri, Thank you!. Truly an amazing feat to sync up all these clips. Really highlights the detail Ryan Murphy put into this whole project. Great job with the alignment...
you welcome :)
Wow...Susan really studied those subtle ques! Really an impressive actress!!
This is brilliant! Very well put together. And it shows just how well Jessica portrayed Joan. Susan was wonderful as Bette but it looks like she rushed through a lot of her "Bette movie" lines, compared to Jessica who seemed to take her time and mimic how Joan spoke.
thanks! :)
IrishRose. I felt that they both portrayed Bette and Joan incredibly well. I found them both so compelling - and they added dimensions to the real actressess that you couldn't have even imagined were there. They both look much more like what you would have wanted Bette and Joan to be. They both couldn't pull off the voices - the voices of those two were incredibly hard to mimic. Joan was a slow, eloquent speaker (yet Lange seems to slow down her speech even more) while Bette was a very loud and erratic speaker (yet Sarandon seems to create broken English in the voice, almost bordering on Christopher Walken) however that doesn't put a dampener on the series as it is just wonderfully put together. I have never been so enthralled by a series such as that. Every episode was just as exciting as the last and I didn't want it to end. I felt that the actresses cast for the parts were perfect and especially Sarandon (as she brought a certain glamour that Bette didn't display - which was intriguing to watch as you could imagine Bette revelling in her own unique type of glamour and that's what Sarandon did marvellously) Lange just played Joan to a T. Yet the thing with Joan was that her facade as a sweet, charming actress was a mask for that of a scheming harlet and you could tell through that Polyanna look she had that there was something so much darker that she would never reveal and Lange just took that and run with it. Whereas Bette was a "What you see is what you get" type of woman so there was little shock factor to what was written for Sarandon to play yet it was so riveting to watch. 👌
It was indeed very well put together, but IMO shows how poorly both played each megastar. Jessica was way too 'big' to play Crawford, and Sarandon, while she looked like Davis at times, didn't sound much like her at all.
So sad it's over. Going to miss it tonight.
Wow, Jessica Lange really did a great job, besides the voice, you can't tell who's who. It was like Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin. Susan Sarandon was very good too, but I think Bette Davis is someone too difficult to do for anyone.
I think that Marion Cotillard would be such a great Bette Davis
What a riveting production The Feud was! Ryan Murphy pulled it off with aplomb and style. And Sarandon and Lange are two of the greatest actresses of today playing two of Hollywood's legends. Dimitri Bitu--thank you kindly--how much we all enjoyed your edits.
you welcome!
As good as Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange are, this shows just how much better both Crawford and Davis were.
I think there are certain stars that can’t be imitated. Imagine if someone in 30 years wanted to do a Meryl Streep biopic. It just couldn’t happen.
@@anonnyanonymous4800 you can only get so close to any human being, period.
Absolutely. It's like comparing artificial vanilla w real thing.
Amazing job on this. The series was great in my mind already. But this pushed this into a Mindblowing level. I'm in awe of this series.
thanks! :)
amazing how close they get with the recreated scenes. Sets, costumes, props, hairstyle all down to a tee
Wow unbelievable editing good job
thanks! :)
Amazing edit! God, Joan was so beautiful even in the 70's
Wow. This was awesome!! Seeing these side-by-sides makes me realize how much Jessica nailed it. I didn't give her enough credit before. Thank you for putting this together so well.
you welcome! :)
This was AWESOME! A very unique and dual view of both! Thank you for the putting this together for us Dimitri Bitu!!
you welcome! :)
I'm a huge Bette Davis fan but I though Jessica Lange was FANTASTIC as Joan Crawford. On a par with the two legends themselves.
Thank you so much for putting the clips together it really looks the same it shows Feud did a good job on makeup the actors and costumes.
you welcome!
Excellent job... I immediately went to RUclips to search for original content after watching Feud....nice complication...
thanks! :)
Spectacular production on this show, everything is spot on! Lange and Sarandon gave phenomenal performances, I love Feud!
Lange is so committed to her role.
Bette was robbed of the Oscar that year.
Anne Bancroft totally earned it.
the academy was never gonna give the award to a performance from a horror film
@@bluesanc88 the actors from the silence of the lambs would beg to differ.
@@wiznahhhk9341 congrats 1/85 and 30 years later finally one.
Maxmillian That’s not a fair analogy. Baby Jane launched an entire genre. This should have been the first Oscar win in a horror genre.
This just might be the best video ever uploaded to RUclips. Thank you for doing so. The editing is amazing/envious/unmatched. Thank you.
no, thank you
Joan's eyebrows were so distinct. The shape was exact. As were the lips, absolutely specific. Yet again the makeup artist didn't get it right. You could put those two elements on any face and you'd know, or should know, who it's meant to be instantly. Even Joan did a caricature of herself scrawled on a napkin that got it right. It's like 'Mommie Dearest' all over again. Maybe one day they'll do Joan in something and get the look right. It's so frustrating.
Nice job here - great job with your edit!
I like Lange and her acting “sells” Crawford well enough, but Sarandon looked like Davis and her acting was equally as strong. She nailed Bette’s odd speech pattern and developed the proper “smokers rasp” to her voice. Both were excellent.
thanks
Susan and Jessica both did an amazing job on Feud!
All in all, "Feud" dealt with two ENORMOUS Hollywood egos going head-to-head... interesting premise.
that year was badass, Katharine Hepburn was on it, was rude...
so, i guess, they just decided to make it right. Anne Bancroft was the right deal..
Thanks for putting this together. The whole series I kept thinking something was off. Now I can see they did not make them look old enough. Still loved the show.
you welcome! :)
This is fantastic editing job. Thank you for posting this! I wanted to see scene by scene but i could never do this. I thunk Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon were amazing and the Feud production got everything right!
The attention to detail in Feud was exceptional! Thank you so much for sharing these remarkable comparisons... really enjoyed seeing the original.
you welcome 😉😉
what a fantastic video, the most enjoyable 20 mins I have spent on youtube in a long time, feud hasn't aired in the uk yet, I cant wait to see it and this great compilation has only made me more impatient for the series
thanks! :)
This was amazing. Thanks so much for putting this together. I loved that series!
you welcome! ;)
Bette was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more amused by Vincent Price's bit than depicted. I can't blame them for altering that for dramatic effect though!
I think those are wonderful re-creations. Beyond the overall production of FEUD, those little movie re-dos are a mountain of work unto themselves. What is a bit of a non-sequitur that comes to mind is that FEUD needed a better presentation of Oliva DeHavilland than what they went with.
That's why she sued them and won... Be kind rewind has a GREAT video about the whole thing.
it scares me how accurate this is 💘
You did a spectacular job of showing side-by-side comparisons and for the most part they were really on the money with their recreations.
thanks! :)
You did an excellent job! And the attention to detail in Feud is really something.
thanks! :)
Thank you for putting so much effort into editing this! Feud was a magnificent show.
you welcome! :)
what this supercut shows is that susan and jessica could not duplicate the facial expressions and looks of these 2 Legendary women. It also shows that the producers got things wrong, like hairstyle and hair color; makeup and other minutiae
Joan Crawford... despite any issues, let's not get into them here...
was a stunning woman and a POWERFUL force on screen.
And I think side by side .. it makes Jessica's make-up look rather grotesque and - no true comparison at all.
so was Betty Davis
Mc Kenna totally agree.
I actually had not read this comment when I wrote mine. It's very nice to know I'm not just a lunatic. Or, at least, the only one.
joan crawford was stunning on screen and comparing Joan's 1960s appearances to Jessica's portrayal of the same scenes do make Jessica look rather awkward and grotesque.
I love Jessica Lange but I agree the makeup could’ve been... darker? I think like the eyebrows and the eyeliner
Dimitri,
Thanks so much for the work you did putting this together.....Great job! I finally finished watching Feud: Bette and Joan (after sitting on my DVR for awhile) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
you welcome!
Great work on this upload. Thanks for posting this. Very creative .. I really enjoyed Feud
you welcome! :)
Excellent work, thank you for putting all this together - amazing effort! This was a lot of work!
thanks! :)
very faithful- and so much good work went into the production design!
So wonderfully done!! Excellent work and craftsmanship. The best video online for all things Feud!!
thanks! :)
I haven't watched this entire video, but thank you for putting this together.
And, I'm sure it's a whole team of people--- but those involved in Feud did their homework. The scenes are pretty darn close to their real counterparts. Although, I did have to chuckle when the actress playing Bette's daughter actually gave an "okay" performance when she was supposed to be horrible, and you see how bad Bette's actual daughter was at acting.
you welcome :)
I don't think B.D was too bad actually in real life
I thought she was okay.
Thanks for putting this together. Its brilliant!
you welcome! :)
Absolutely brilliant compilation & so much hard work has gone into making this perfect piece. Thank you for uploading
you welcome! :)
You did a fantastic job! this is probably my favorite video you've done. I also loved feud, thought it was an excellent series.
thanks! :)
Really cool! You made something that had relieved my Feud sudden-induced detox! Really great-I, also, am a new subscriber!
thanks! :)
God.. fantastic. Great job! Truly impressive how close they got this to real life!
Outstanding, deserves millions of views.
thanks! :)
Sarandon looks like Davis but her voice is like an octave lower
Great work putting this together. Huge undertaking. Thank you.
I can't get enough of it.
Very good work. I know how hard it can be to put 2 movies together. Congratulations!!!
Great work, Dimitri. Well done. ¡Congratulations!
thanks! :)
Hello Dimitri. Great work indeed. I enjoyed your video very much. As I really liked that serie over the past weeks, I was happy to discover your work. Merci.
thanks! :)
Susan Sarandon got everything right on point 👏🏻
I love that show so much.
really, really enjoyed this as I am a fan of both actresses. It was very well done and both women should win an Oscar for their renditions of Bette and Joan!
1ekaba Oscars are not for television shows.
Amazing compilation! Thank you.
YES!!! The Bette/ 'Bette' duet! Whatever Happenened to Baby Jane song. Love it!
Great video - you put alot of work in it and it shows. Thank you.
you welcome!
Omg the person who made this video, thank you!
you welcome
I love Susan Sarandon
my favorite actress ❤ 😀
Great edit. It is hard - with side by side comparisons - not to realize what a delicate beauty Crawford had. I think in collective memory she is large and bold but she really was tiny and fragile.
thanks! :)
Perfect video. Thanks for putting this together.
you welcome! :)
Both Susan and Jessica are seasoned actresses and did a great job, but i think Jessica Lange looked much older than Joan Crawford.
TREMENDOUS MINI-SERIES.......2 Superb Actresses at the top of their game each giving their own take on Bette and Joan's complexities
That was awesome! Thank you for taking the time to do this.
you welcome! :)
Really enjoyed this. Thank you for putting it together.
you welcome! :)
Susan Sarandon e Jessica Lange fizeram um trabalho impecável nessa série, estão de parabéns
Amazing editing! Jessica is such a great actress, I love watching her!
thanks :)
Great job!! I loved everything about the series Feud!
thanks :)
They did their damn homework I love t!
Jessica is one of the best actresses of all time...her and Meryl had a little rivalry as well...but they love and respect each other...and good job Dimitri well done!
thanks
Meryl auditioned for the role of Dwan in King Kong but was told she was too unattractive
Omg!!! Thank U soooooooooo much....This IS Divine....I smell EMMYsssss!!!
you welcome! :)
This is an incredible compilation! Great job putting this together, I really enjoyed it! :)
thanks! :)
This comparis0n is a trip . I love it . When I firs heard about feud , I thought it was going to be a cmplete re-make of "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane" . I was surprised it was only about the making of the film . It was a damn shame thar Susan Sarandon and Jessia Lange did not get an Emmy for their marvelous portrayal of Bete Davis and Joan Crawford .
Feud was absolutely brilliant; we loved every second of it. What a (surprise) treat it was to go right into the
making of Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte! This miniseries was robbed at the Emmys, because in my mind it should have taken every award, but this time Davis (Sarandon) winning best actress, as a fun twist on "art imitating life". Besides, I think she ran circles around Lange (Crawford).
This whole cast was sooo outstanding
