The black plastic at the bottom is an insulator. Since it's gaseket mounted there is a chance you could press down too hard and short out some pins on the metal body. Hence the black plastic.

@@香噴噴-p6f u keep the plate foam. Plate foam did u mean the sound dampening thicker foam in the q3? I know there is a very thin foam at the back of the board. Do u call that case foam?

If anyone has this and wants to delete the pinging sound and maximize thock: Three layers of tape under the PCB. Use the extra foam that comes with the keyboard around the metal plate (force break mod). Add a few layers of thin foam (I used extra foam from when I bought screen protectors for my phone). Added some bluetac under the spacebar to add weight and stop the hollow sound. *optional* change the brown switches to gateron yellow switches and hand lube them (I didn't like the factory lubed switches). note: use thin foam to stop high frequency, if you use thick foam it will reduce low frequency, so the thin foam that comes with the screen protectors for phones works really well. Have fun modding!
A bit late, but the "seating" issues is not caused by the stabilizers it's the tecsee carrots switches cause they are long pole switches which means that they sit higher than the stabilizers so they will wobble left and right side of the stabilizers. you can probably resolve that issue with some painters tape on the stabilizer stem and friction fit the keycap on.
Just got my special edition red Q3 and it is amazing. Only charged me 20 for shipping. I did the tape mod but nothing else and it sounds great, I like a slightly quieter board though. If you remove the keycaps the board comes apart with out removing the usb board. I remove ESC and F1-F4 and was able to get it out.
I agree that it's the best form factor for the Q-series. Many people could probably care less about the extra keys, but the arrow, home, end, and delete keys are, imho, indispensable to programmers. (Though, I could make an argument for arrow keys having utility for any computer user.) Great review!

The most stupid “mod” I have ever seen. This reveals a lot of ping from steel plate and top case. Don’t throw away plate foam, just add one 0.5mm layer of PE foam, make tape mod, force break mod and take out foam under PCB. You’ll get some flex and proper sound without metal ping. And if you change stock plate to POM/PC plate, you’ll bring this board to another level!
