    Thank you for bringing back the great memories of spending four days there in my van about a year ago. This park kind of sneaks up on you in terms of its beauty, and you have to go to all four corners of it, even though it does involve some driving. I loved it because it wasn’t the crowds of the other national parks I felt like I left with understanding and experience … more than just seeing the beautiful sites. you missed a beautiful flat trail at the Ellias crossing. You did have to wade across the Rio and go up a concrete trail steps on the right side… to a very easy flat trail along the river. When I crossed the river, it was nearly hip deep and you needed help to get up the steep embankment, and fortunately there were people that helped me! You walk back on the trail between those two high wall cliff canyons. I did it at sunset and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been with the golden light on the canyon walls. Watch out for the scrawny Mexican cattle that are on the roads out there. there is still some informal crossing going of Cowboys going on to get those cows back to the their side. I love this national park and also really enjoyed Alpine. You need to allow more time here because there were some portions of days where the wind was too high to do anything except hide out.

      Thanks for sharing. We were just there on a one day exploration because it’s all we had available at that time. We did read and see all the hiking areas on the maps and heard about a lot of the beautiful areas from my cousin who has been there over 10 times now because he loves it so much. He does a lot of hiking on those trails. We are so glad we stopped for this park to see what we did see and was very worthwhile, as you can clearly see through the video. We’d encourage anyone to not hold back on going just because you only have one or two days. It’s always better to go and see as much as you can than not go at all. For us, we plan to go back another time and see more/do more hiking…and if we never do for whatever reason, we will be so glad we went when we did and seen what we did. Absolutely worth it! 👍🏻🧡😊🤓

    Just a day? We spent a week there. Great video, especially the music! This is the park that convinced us to leave the Prius behind in Alaska and get a Jeep. I couldn’t believe how narrow the Rio Grand was! We did the boat trip across to Mexico. It was a wonderful cultural experience. We paid for a guide and rode the donkeys. He took us all around the town and right to his house where his wife was selling homemade goods. Of course I purchased. We’ll go back once we get our class C.

    Good thing y'all didn't venture down that road to the hot springs! It was definitely an adventure. 😬 So happy the skies cleared up for y'all! 🙌 I was worried up until that point in the video that you weren't going to see the gorgeous mountains because of the fog. 😄🤠

    We have friends who lived on the Terlingua Ranch Road, every year we spend a minimum of two weeks with them, living in our 5th Wheel RV. One of my favorite places is Santa Elena Canyon. The trail goes along the canyon wall up river about a half mile, then drops down to the waters edge. Last March you could step across the river, there was so little water in the Rio Grande. Just a beautiful area, especially at sunset. There is so much more to see in the area, you must go back to the desert again. Sadly our friend, Chuck, passed away this Fall and his wife is selling their place.
    Your video brought back many good memories and tears to my eyes. 😢

    We love Big Bend. We were there just over 2 weeks ago and we were there in February too. Stayed in Rio Grande Village too. This time we did go to Mexico, super easy, had breakfast and headed back to the US. We walked.
    There is so much to do there. You just scratched the surface, but you got a taste and hopefully you will get back.
    First visit e did the drive down to the Hot Springs in an F250 and I was white knuckling it on that last bit. This time we got on the back roads and it was so beautiful

    We loved BBNP! We did go across the river and rode into the small town. Not a lot there, had lunch (not bad) and returned. It was a fun diversion. We enjoyed the video as it’s been several years since we were there.

    The new 2025 comes prewired for Starlink, but it’s for the $2500 High Performance version.
    By the way, Starlink Roam is now $165 / month, but they now include in motion use for that price, so you could use it while driving.

    We also spent the night at the Marathon Motel & RV park. Local citizen scientists brought their telescopes to the CG so we could stargaze. It was special. Regarding the national park, you just didn’t give yourself enough time to explore the park. I guess one day is better than nothing, but it is really is in an isolated area of the country to drive there for one day. IMHO you needed at least a few days there - you really missed seeing the beauty of Boquillas Canyon. We ran into wild horses on the trails there.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  Месяц назад

      Right, we realize that as we pointed out. We visit many areas across the country that we only have a day or two sometimes, and then we go back (like The Badlands, Custer, Spearfish etc.) Nobody should be discouraged and refrain from visiting in just one day if that’s all the time you have. Like us, you’ll be glad you did and you’ll still have plenty of memories. There are a lot of trails in that park too, so many that even someone visiting a week, would never have enough time to hike them all. So enjoy what you can, while you can and never let anyone discourage you from doing so. 🧡

    Very nice!! Although, a lot of the scenery looks like where I live but I think it would be an interesting place to visit. Thank you for showing me all the places that my husband and I need to visit.

      Try telling that to a very nervous wife. 😂
      Good to know, but I read this to her and she just to tell you “the wife” still says no! 😂🤪
      The 24’ Sprinter with all our weight in the upper cabinets, doesn’t take the swaying so well on roads like that, that road got her blood pressure up. 😂

    Hi again. That app sounds great to me , do you have to pay or sign up for it? Just wondering, cause I’m definitely interested in that one. Big Bend seemed to be a little spooky at times with the ominous fog. Just as I type this the ☀️ comes 😂. Those views of the river were breath taking. Another great video with amazing sites and views. Thank You

    Is the tunnel tall enough for rv's?
    Thanks

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  Месяц назад

      There was no sign posted, but there were 5th wheels and motorhomes in the campground that we were in (shown in the beginning of the video), so with that road being the only way in, one would believe that it must be plenty tall enough. There are a few people on the internet saying what the height is, but we don’t feel comfortable telling someone without knowing for sure. If you’re planning a trip there and concerned, it’s always best to call the National Park Visitors Center to ask.

    Are there signs to give you the height of the tunnels?

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  Месяц назад

      No signs that we seen or showed in the video. There was only one tunnel, and by the looks of the fifth wheels and motorhomes in the campground, it must be high enough since it’s the only way to the campground. We’d call the visitors center just to confirm the height to make sure it’s high enough for your rig. Seemed pretty high.

    I don’t know where to begin. The Big Bend area of Texas is very special! It’s remote and majestic! I’m from Houston but this is real Texas! If you go back check out the Fossil Bone Exhibit south of PersimmonGap entrance. Incredible history! The hike from the Basin to the South Rim is a long hike but worth it! You may have been to Terlingua but there’s a lot to experience including the Starlight restaurant and The Posada Milagro guest house. Mimi Webb Miller’s place in Terlingua is very special and she has great views of the Chisos at daybreak. The River Road to Presidio is spectacular and of course there’s Marfa, the Davis Mountains and the McDonald Observatory. Wonderful star parties of the universe!
    Fantastic video from you guys! Really captures the best of Texas!

      So true! At the end of the video, we were at the Starlight Restaurant but it was closed and we didn’t want to wait around until it opened. We were trying to make it out of the desolate area and back to Marathon before it got too late. The least amount of driving in the dark in those desolate areas, the better for us. 😁🤓
