Thank you for bringing back the great memories of spending four days there in my van about a year ago. This park kind of sneaks up on you in terms of its beauty, and you have to go to all four corners of it, even though it does involve some driving. I loved it because it wasn’t the crowds of the other national parks I felt like I left with understanding and experience … more than just seeing the beautiful sites. you missed a beautiful flat trail at the Ellias crossing. You did have to wade across the Rio and go up a concrete trail steps on the right side… to a very easy flat trail along the river. When I crossed the river, it was nearly hip deep and you needed help to get up the steep embankment, and fortunately there were people that helped me! You walk back on the trail between those two high wall cliff canyons. I did it at sunset and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been with the golden light on the canyon walls. Watch out for the scrawny Mexican cattle that are on the roads out there. there is still some informal crossing going of Cowboys going on to get those cows back to the their side. I love this national park and also really enjoyed Alpine. You need to allow more time here because there were some portions of days where the wind was too high to do anything except hide out.
Thanks for sharing. We were just there on a one day exploration because it’s all we had available at that time. We did read and see all the hiking areas on the maps and heard about a lot of the beautiful areas from my cousin who has been there over 10 times now because he loves it so much. He does a lot of hiking on those trails. We are so glad we stopped for this park to see what we did see and was very worthwhile, as you can clearly see through the video. We’d encourage anyone to not hold back on going just because you only have one or two days. It’s always better to go and see as much as you can than not go at all. For us, we plan to go back another time and see more/do more hiking…and if we never do for whatever reason, we will be so glad we went when we did and seen what we did. Absolutely worth it! 👍🏻🧡😊🤓
Just a day? We spent a week there. Great video, especially the music! This is the park that convinced us to leave the Prius behind in Alaska and get a Jeep. I couldn’t believe how narrow the Rio Grand was! We did the boat trip across to Mexico. It was a wonderful cultural experience. We paid for a guide and rode the donkeys. He took us all around the town and right to his house where his wife was selling homemade goods. Of course I purchased. We’ll go back once we get our class C.
I also did a 3 day kayak trip thru the entire park . Camped on islands in the Rio grand . The vertical cliffs at one point was amazing.
Good thing y'all didn't venture down that road to the hot springs! It was definitely an adventure. 😬 So happy the skies cleared up for y'all! 🙌 I was worried up until that point in the video that you weren't going to see the gorgeous mountains because of the fog. 😄🤠
That was a rough road! Lol
The clouds really added to the beauty that day. Just enough to create some cool views. 🧡
We have friends who lived on the Terlingua Ranch Road, every year we spend a minimum of two weeks with them, living in our 5th Wheel RV. One of my favorite places is Santa Elena Canyon. The trail goes along the canyon wall up river about a half mile, then drops down to the waters edge. Last March you could step across the river, there was so little water in the Rio Grande. Just a beautiful area, especially at sunset. There is so much more to see in the area, you must go back to the desert again. Sadly our friend, Chuck, passed away this Fall and his wife is selling their place.
Your video brought back many good memories and tears to my eyes. 😢
We are SO sorry to hear of your friends passing. 🙏🏻 We’re so glad it brought back some fond memories. Thank you so much for sharing. 🧡
The hot spring in the park is touching the Rio grand. Just great .
Well Done! Better than anything on Network TV...
What a beautiful place. A place I have never thought about. Thank you for taking us with you.
We had our jeep with us when we went to Big Bend. We had a blast running the 4 x 4 trails. We love Big Bend and will certainly go back again.
Thank you, Michelle and Brian, Beautiful Park that will be on our trip list thank you for taking the time and showing us the park. We liked the chairs LOL. You made our Morning.
The Big Bend area is so beautiful. I loved the mountains and the views. Texas is a remarkable state.
In our opinion, the most underrated National Park. We’ve visited there more than a dozen times, always something new to experience
Saturday!!!!! I’m working on a Saturday!!! And you show !!! Yayyy ! You are an accent to my Saturday when I’m doing my Marketing list and you keep me going, Jeanne Stark Clearwater Florida
You did a fantastic job of capturing the beauty of Big Bend NP. Thank you!
🧡 Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Stunning views! Beautiful music too. Well done Brian. You're getting better and better. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Great video Brian and Michelle! I was at BBNP the first year I was full time. It was AMAZING! I drove the road from the NP to the State Park and it was so strikingly beautiful, I literally cried! I kayaked on the Rio Grande and hiked the canyon that week too. It is still a favorite memory of my time as a full timer camper!
Sounds like an amazing trip! 🧡
Beautiful photos! Great video. I love Michelle's "Don't go there" look. 😳😁 About 31:47.
We visited in the spring when the dessert was in bloom. So much beauty and color !
That’s what we hear. We may have to make it back in the spring next trip.
Hope you had an awesome Christmas and wishing you a very Happy New Years.
Looking forward to your 2025 adventures.
From your Canadian fans.
Happy New Year! 🎊
Thank you for another beautiful visit to a wonderful national park. We still enjoy your work and we ask you to keep it up if you can. Have a wonderful new year!
🧡
We did that 4 years ago..we're heading back this year..and staying in the park with our camper..looking forward to experiencing Big Bend in the nighttime..
BBNP was our first "big" stop when we started full timing in 2018. We were there for a week and still didn't see everything! It's a huge place and beautiful!!! The video is great! ~Lynette
Happy New Year 🎉🎉Be safe and look forward to a great 2025 travel adventures with you.
Thanks for the tip about the "Just Ahead" app. We'll plan to load that for our next road trip.
We always enjoy your videos! I know we will never get to see the places that you see in person but we greatly enjoy seeing them in video every week!
You will have to go sometime and see the Ark Encounter in Northern Kentucky and the creation Museum located a short distance from there. God bless you and protect you in your travels!❤🙏
🧡 Thank you for the suggestions!
Such a stunning park. Spent a full week camping there and still not enough time to see everything. The town of Marfa was a lot of fun too.
Wow! Never expected such beautiful scenery in Texas.
While I was working for the 8 months I was there the lodge was home. Ran across 2 mountain lions on the trail.
We love Big Bend. We were there just over 2 weeks ago and we were there in February too. Stayed in Rio Grande Village too. This time we did go to Mexico, super easy, had breakfast and headed back to the US. We walked.
There is so much to do there. You just scratched the surface, but you got a taste and hopefully you will get back.
First visit e did the drive down to the Hot Springs in an F250 and I was white knuckling it on that last bit. This time we got on the back roads and it was so beautiful
Did Rio Grande Village have full hookups? (9:07) It doesn't appear to on recreation.gov website.
Yes, we’re definitely planning to go back!
You know that everything is bigger in Texas when it has a national park that's bigger than Rhode Island.
We loved BBNP! We did go across the river and rode into the small town. Not a lot there, had lunch (not bad) and returned. It was a fun diversion. That trip convinced us to switch to a Jeep from the Prius which had a lot of scrapes on the underside. Even more than Death Valley. We enjoyed the video as it’s been several years since we were there.
Great video, love the content. I hope you have a Happy and Healthy New Year 🎉🎉🎉
We subscribe to several RV lifestyle channels, yours with out a doubt is the best, thank you! The production values are the best of any! Brian your commentary you write is incredible. My wife and i will grab a glass of wine and enjoy your latest video. We are budding RV'ers hoping to get our first towable next year. Will you two be in Tampa this year?
That’s very nice of you, thank you. Yes, we are having a meet and greet on Friday the 17th at the RV show in Tampa. The time will be from 1 to 3 PM at the Grech RV display. We hope to see you there! 🧡
Incredible video of a National Park, didnt realize how beautiful it is. Add it to the list. Thanks Michelle and Brian. Happy and health new year to you both
Glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year!
Great video! The John Wayne was EPIC! One more destination to put on our list! Happy New Year!
Happy new year!
@ we’re sad we won’t be at the Tampa RV show to see y’all again. We just can’t purchase an RV every year! Safe travels!
Hard to look without buying? 😂
We’re sad that we won’t see you guys this year! 😔
Brian, you just crack me up sometimes…
Happy New Year Guys! You are on your way west…could you be working your way to Palm Springs and Sherman’s deli!?! Safe travels Michelle and Brian (or should I say, the Duke! Too funny)!
Happy New Year!
Not Palm Springs :(
Thanks for the video. On my bucket list.
Great video! Thanks for the great tour. ❤
Added to our bucket list!! Thanks for the great video!!
Yes, just 1 day? Absolutely better than non, but this park and area deserves at least 5-7 days. It is so diverse. Do appreciate your bringing attention to this often missed National Park. Going across to the little Mexican Village is part of the fun. The photography is as nice as always as is the music. You had a kiss from this park, may it lure you back for big hugs. Happy Trails..
Yes, we plan to go back as we mentioned in the video. If you watch our channel often, you know we often have places we have to be. We have zero regrets visiting this park in one day and would do it again and would recommend anyone that only has a day or two, to not let that discourage you from visiting. Beautiful place! 🧡😊🤓
@ I’ve watch since you began. It’s been fun
At first I thought , na I'll pass on this park., but then whoa! Those views were amazing!! Thank you for the glimpse of things to come.
We're so happy you enjoyed it! 🧡
We took delivery of our 2025 Grech Strada Ion this past Thursday. Have only driven it from the dealer to our home, which was about an hour and a half drive. We are delighted to finally receive it after ordering in October.
The new 2025 comes prewired for Starlink, but it’s for the $2500 High Performance version.
By the way, Starlink Roam is now $165 / month, but they now include in motion use for that price, so you could use it while driving.
Congratulations! Stay tuned for next weeks video where we announce the new model. 😁🤓
Very purdy!! Safe travels!! 😁
what gorgeous scenery! I couldn't really see the purple cactus but to me, what I could see of it, it looked like prickly pear. we have some on our property that just grew (we didn't plant it so probably birds did their thing and deposited it). ppl around here make jelly out of it. they also cook the paddles and its supposed to be sweet. I've never had the nopales (the paddles) but hope to try it someday.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing! 🧡
We enjoyed your video to Big Bend. We took the same route and your correct picture don’t do it justice. Happy New Year. Be safe.
So glad you got there.
Wow' didn't know this place existed. Awesome job on this video, nice work. Going to watch again. 👏👍❤
🧡
Looked like a long day of sightseeing, but well worth it! You always find a lot of beautiful sites. Brian you should have sit on the horse seat. Safe travels🥸😎🤓 Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! 🎊
We were there some years back in October. Boy was it hot.
Incredible!
Another beautiful video. Thank you for a years worth of outstanding videos, places I will never get an opportunity to see. I wish you safe travels, and good health, last not least, much happiness in the New Year..Happy New Year 2025🎉🎉🎉.
Happy New Year!
Alpines a cool little town .
Kayak ing thru that was amazing!
Love your adventures and suggestions!! Have to try that just ahead app. Keep up the great work!! Anyway in your older videos that you can do a search by bringing up the state to check out your adventures ??
You should be able to go to our channel, click videos, then in the search area of the videos, type either the state or subject of the area you are looking for. I know some of our older videos were not optimized for search results though and when I have the extra time someday, I need to go back through them all.
I had the privilege of rebuilding all the communications sites in big bend . In 2010 . There’s not a path or road I haven’t explored in the park .
👍🏻
We also spent the night at the Marathon Motel & RV park. Local citizen scientists brought their telescopes to the CG so we could stargaze. It was special. Regarding the national park, you just didn’t give yourself enough time to explore the park. I guess one day is better than nothing, but it is really is in an isolated area of the country to drive there for one day. IMHO you needed at least a few days there - you really missed seeing the beauty of Boquillas Canyon. We ran into wild horses on the trails there.
Right, we realize that as we pointed out. We visit many areas across the country that we only have a day or two sometimes, and then we go back (like The Badlands, Custer, Spearfish etc.) Nobody should be discouraged and refrain from visiting in just one day if that’s all the time you have. Like us, you’ll be glad you did and you’ll still have plenty of memories. There are a lot of trails in that park too, so many that even someone visiting a week, would never have enough time to hike them all. So enjoy what you can, while you can and never let anyone discourage you from doing so. 🧡
@ - Absolutely agree. Hope my comment didn’t sound harsh. It is just such an amazing place but you really have to want to go there because it is so far off the beaten path. Keep posting. We enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Not at all! 🧡 We simply want to encourage others to visit, even if they only have a day or two. It’s absolutely worthwhile, we were able to cover so much in just one day!
Great video. The big bend area has been on my bucket list and now I’m even more interested. A beautiful area.
This is a very good video and verrrry interesting I must say !
Glad you enjoyed it! 🧡
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks! 🧡
Thanks so much. Hope to see you at this year's Tampa show?
We’ll be there on Friday Jan 17th from 1-3pm for a Meet n Greet at the Grech RV display. Hope to see you there!
I don’t know if you’ve ever answered this question before or if you have the time to answer, but I’ll ask it anyway. What kind of cameras are you guys using for your videos? I’ve always been impressed with the quality of the video. Of course the narration and music is great also.
iPhone, GoPros and a Sony camera for night shots.
Isn't it great that you do not have to get filming permits anymore 🎉😊
Yes! Wish we didn’t during this trip but it was just before they passed it.
If you head to Alpine, be sure to eat at Reata!
We actually did stop there to eat but they were having a private event and the other tables were reserved only and were already full. Looked like a great place to eat when we were reading reviews to find a place to eat. Thank you though.
It relies on its name instead of the food. Spicewood is the restaurant to hit.
Aewsome video.
Very nice!! Although, a lot of the scenery looks like where I live but I think it would be an interesting place to visit. Thank you for showing me all the places that my husband and I need to visit.
I was telling my daughter about your channel yesterday. May I ask what day did you say you would be at the Tampa RV show. She might bring me so I can meet both of you. ❤❤
That would be great! We will be there Friday Jan 17 from 1-3 pm at the Grech RV display. W
Very beautiful although I’m sure the video does not due it justice. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
You’re so right, it really doesn’t do it justice.
Excellent Video! I'm Rit-to-go!
Wow
By the way beautiful video.
Your RV would have made it to the Hot Springs without an issue.
Try telling that to a very nervous wife. 😂
Good to know, but I read this to her and she just to tell you “the wife” still says no! 😂🤪
The 24’ Sprinter with all our weight in the upper cabinets, doesn’t take the swaying so well on roads like that, that road got her blood pressure up. 😂
@LivinRVision
My Grand mother is buried there off Glen Springs road just outside the Chisos, been going there for years Birthplace of my Dad. Your Video was Great!
Hi again. That app sounds great to me , do you have to pay or sign up for it? Just wondering, cause I’m definitely interested in that one. Big Bend seemed to be a little spooky at times with the ominous fog. Just as I type this the ☀️ comes 😂. Those views of the river were breath taking. Another great video with amazing sites and views. Thank You
The app is free. Glad you enjoyed it! 🧡
Paid 50 bucks at a yard sale for 2 kayaks. Gave them away to kids after the trip .
Is the tunnel tall enough for rv's?
Thanks
There was no sign posted, but there were 5th wheels and motorhomes in the campground that we were in (shown in the beginning of the video), so with that road being the only way in, one would believe that it must be plenty tall enough. There are a few people on the internet saying what the height is, but we don’t feel comfortable telling someone without knowing for sure. If you’re planning a trip there and concerned, it’s always best to call the National Park Visitors Center to ask.
What time of year were you there ?
Dec 7
@LivinRVision thanks
@@LivinRVisionjust missed you, we arrived on the 8th
Tried getting the just ahead app going through the website and it states no longer available. 🥺
It now states only available for iPhones
Oh no! We didn’t try any other way since we have an iPhone. Strange that it wouldn’t be available for all devices. :(
Great vid. What is on that coyote's back?????
I think it was just it’s hair sticking up
On x is the best trailhead all across America it has everything past an present but there is a fee monthly
Hi there! What is the name of the app?
It’s called, “Just Ahead”. It’s mentioned in the video also.
@ thank you so much for sharing this!
You’re very welcome!
Are there signs to give you the height of the tunnels?
No signs that we seen or showed in the video. There was only one tunnel, and by the looks of the fifth wheels and motorhomes in the campground, it must be high enough since it’s the only way to the campground. We’d call the visitors center just to confirm the height to make sure it’s high enough for your rig. Seemed pretty high.
you mised the best part of the park. Santa elena canyon . we didit all the way to the back. you missed a reat view.
Wait…we actually did go to Santa Elena Canyon. Are you talking about the trail?
Either way, we look forward to seeing more on our next visit. Thanks!
You can actually drive to the hot springs. Parking is 50 feet away.
It’s much further than 50’ from the main road and is a very rough road, as shown.
@ there’s a few hot springs. I was riding a dirt bike .
It’s a 5 mile dirt road . A car can make it.
You missed all the good stuff . But that takes a enduro motorcycle to get to the best stuff.
❤ Thanks for sparring me the trip.
Lots of nothing in West Texas.
You may have missed some of the video, the park is so diverse and so beautiful. Would hate to see you miss such a treasure.
I don’t know where to begin. The Big Bend area of Texas is very special! It’s remote and majestic! I’m from Houston but this is real Texas! If you go back check out the Fossil Bone Exhibit south of PersimmonGap entrance. Incredible history! The hike from the Basin to the South Rim is a long hike but worth it! You may have been to Terlingua but there’s a lot to experience including the Starlight restaurant and The Posada Milagro guest house. Mimi Webb Miller’s place in Terlingua is very special and she has great views of the Chisos at daybreak. The River Road to Presidio is spectacular and of course there’s Marfa, the Davis Mountains and the McDonald Observatory. Wonderful star parties of the universe!
Fantastic video from you guys! Really captures the best of Texas!
So true! At the end of the video, we were at the Starlight Restaurant but it was closed and we didn’t want to wait around until it opened. We were trying to make it out of the desolate area and back to Marathon before it got too late. The least amount of driving in the dark in those desolate areas, the better for us. 😁🤓
