Matt is such an old soul. I love it so much. He can have have conversations with people of any age, any race. He is such a kind, respectful person. Since he was a kid. No wonder he could start stand up at 15. Loved this.
I'm a lover of YMH and a weekly listener, but never have I ever had the desire to watch two bears one cave... until I saw Matt Rife was on. Fucking love this guy
How heartwarming to see this father/son dynamic between the veteran comic and the up and comer. My favorite part was the end when Tom was advising Matt not to let trollers mess with his head. Words of wisdom. Great interview. 🙏🏽

Man, that was really sweet to hear his grandfather would buy 5 tickets so he could perform.
He’s been very opening about the fact that without his grandfather, he wouldn’t be where he’s at today. Matt has that super genuine sweet personality that he doesn’t get enough credit for.

Today I bought my mum a house. It’s small but nice and in a good area. She lost her home in a natural disaster and I started a business 4 years ago so I could buy my ex out of my house and help mum with her rent. I’m not rich but I don’t have kids and make enough to pay two mortgages. I know I’ll never regret doing this. I love my mum like you all love yours. Mums love us like no one else ever will.

It’s so nice to see that even though he is pretty young and “new”, he was actually grinding and looking for opportunities for himself since he was 15… that’s probably why he is so good with crowd work and looks as comfortable on stage as any of the older comedians, he really put himself out there from a very young age. I had the best time at his show this year in Nashville and yes he did kick out two annoying girls 😂
Once he said he mostly did black comedy shows I knew that’s where he learned his crown work

This is the first time ive watched an entire podcast of anyone. It was really interesting to see this side of Tom. I never pictured him as a mentor but he makes a good one. Matt is lucky to have some people in the industry legitimately looking to help and I'm sure Tom has seen it all
You can tell Matt feels legit hanging with Tom. Good for him. He deserves it. He had a lot of god given gifts but he’s not squandering it.
I love how Tom took this as a moment to kind of “dad” Matt a little like hey you’re doing great here and here. Look out for this, don’t do that. But it wasn’t just a preachy podcast

Deep down he’s just a poor that hit the lotto. He knows he doesn’t belong in circles of true wealth and this is how he copes, he might be rich but will never be an elite like he wishes he was, he will always be their clown and he hates that. I’d be pretty happy to have his success while it seems to do the opposite for him. He was a fat poor like 4 years ago and thinks he’s a different person now, he’s just a bitter angry sociopath slob that broke his arm and leg and is experiencing a midlife crisis. Maybe dressing like a Cali hypebeast teen and those helicopter lessons will make him feel accepted😂

I pulled up this podcast to hear Matt Rife talk about himself but the host hasn't stopped talking for 10 minutes.
The fact you’re on Tom Seguras podcast and you have no idea who he is just shows you know absolutely nothing about comedy. In terms of actual good comedy, Rife sucks. His “crowd work” is just flirting with women in the crowd.

So I watched Matt’s JRE episode and I think he’s more comfortable on here than the JRE episode, he’s flowing and more interested in the conversation….Theres so much chemistry btw him and Tom….Love it!

First of all Tom looks fucking great. He is slinging sage advice, and I didn't think I could like Matt any more than I did before but he is great. All of this is fantastic.
