    Just purchased this compressor. I almost bought one of the cheaper competitors for $100-$130. Gladly paid $200 for this one. The quality is head and shoulders above the cheaper competition. This might be a little quieter than the older Porter Cable that I replaced, but really, they’re all about the same loudness. I take care of my things, and am looking forward to hopefully 15 years of life out of my new Metabo.

    After maybe 6-8 small roof repair jobs mine stopped shutting off, stopped functioning. Company makes it near impossible to get fixed under warranty. Any advice would be much appreciated

    They're handy but too noisy when doing inside trim work. I have a DeWALT pancake w/75.5 dBA very similar to the Metabo. Not to knock it but I needed something quieter for inside work. I purchase from Lowes a California 8 gal air compressor, 60 dBA, 48 lbs, $185.00. What a difference, didn't need earplugs. You should do a review, compare apples to oranges.

      Only problem with Dewalt pancake compressor for me is that is that it is only 2.6 CFM, this Metabo machine pushing 4.0 CFM at 90PSI. So it is almost twice as much more powerful. Yes that California Air Tools 8010 is great, I used to owned this unit until it broke. California Air Tools has very quiet units but they don't last long, I already replaced 4 units in 10 years.

    Great review! Very informative as I am in the market for a new portable air compressor. Saw this Metabo and I'm impressed by what it can do but the duty cycle concerns me and wish it was made in the USA or Japan and not China! Thanks!

    Returned it and got this Tank from lowe's.

    This is a really good pancake compressor , the best I've ever owned , this thing holds some air .... I've been blowing wall texture with it (small rooms , this will NOT do a whole house , nothing like that) , but it has performed great for doing sheetrock repairs and applying texture to walls and ceilings , it will do one room easily , two rooms pretty easily , I wouldn't work ANY pancake harder than that really , but this one is worth the money and the best pancake I've used ..... I love the damn thing

    • @teamsilva7563

      I am looking at this compressor as a DIY guy that has some trim work to do and then in the future some wall texture work for a small 500sq ft unit. Do you think it would handle that?

    • @shure46
      @shure46 Год назад +1

      @@teamsilva7563 YES , I spray Texture all the time with this compressor , I have a valve connected to the hopper , where I can control air pressure , small valve , works great , because you want lower pressure when texturing , and it's easier than messing around at the compressor regulator .... The Metabo 200 psi costs more , but it's the best pancake I've ever owned ..... I can texture a small room easy .... NOT a whole house , but a small bedroom easy

    • @teamsilva7563
      @teamsilva7563 Год назад

      @@shure46 thanks bro, this is super helpful. I was thinking about getting a Rigid pancake compressor for cheaper but it seems like the Tank is a great long term tool investment and I won’t ever be lacking power.

    • @shure46
      @shure46 Год назад

      @@teamsilva7563 if you want a small lightweight pancake that has the best performance and air , it's the Metabo hands down for sure ...... Just remember to run it a little while with the drain valve open for "break in" , and it will seem a bit hot and you'll smell a bit of "burning like smell" at first .... it's okay , it's just breaking in .... I think you run it 5 minutes , valve open for break in .... I did not do that , but now I know it's what you're supposed to do ..... Mine works like a champ a year or more later , I use it all the time

    It's a well built air compressor but I tried two of these and they are really loud! Take that cover off and there is a copper line or at least there was on the one I tried. I don;t know how you got one that was so quiet. The first one I tried, and I was three feet away, the decibels was 98.8! I don't know how you got 70.4 but that's amazing! The second one I tried was even louder at 101.6 decibels! It filled the tank faster to 200 PSI than the first one but only by 12 seconds. The first one took 2:44:50 to fill to 200 PSI and the second one took 2:32:09 to fill to 200 PSI. The first one was also emitting an unusual odor from the motor, don't know if there was something wrong with it or not. It ran fine but just has that smell. Maybe I will try a third one because they really are build well but just too loud! Maybe the third time is the charm! LOL!

    Mine seems to run a bit hot , seems to get pretty hot near the vents covering the motor , is yours like that ???? Obviously motors get hot , but this seems a bit too hot , runs fine , just seems a bit extra hot ..... it is somewhat new , maybe it needs a bit of breaking in , I also get a wee "burning smell" , not much , but just seems weird , like I say , it runs fine ..... UPDATE 1/30/22 - It was breaking in , it was brand new !!!! Compressor has been doing fine on many jobs .... love it , and it's not running as hot or having a burnt smell , it's doing fine .... I use it often

HOWEVER , I am bad about "not reading manuals" and now that you guys have mentioned it , I DO remember from the past , you should run a compressor a few minutes with the valve open .... As for a CFM, manufactures use not the volume coming out of the compressor, but a SCFM - volume of the air it takes to compress the air (coming into the compressor). Check out AVE's video on it. He measured only 0.6 CFM on the output with a compressor rated at, I believe, 4.6 SCFM at 90psi. Customers are getting deceived by all of the manufacturers of the compressor. Check it out for yourself. None of the compressors with certain advertised SCFM will keep up with your tool, which takes the same CFM to run continuously.

      I don't care what the label says , as far as pancake compressors , this one beats them all for producing compressed air OUT the hose , if it's lying , they are ALL lying
