Still can't believe a beautiful voice and singer such as David has left this world. He had one of the most incredible voices in the whole world. It's so sad I can't process it😞
Highest level of musicianship, high on emotion, this is a masterpiece of the modern prog era!
👍
BBT is the most sophisticated band in existence.
absolutly!
The trumpet solo in this brings me to tears it is so beautiful. Amazing guitars, too.
This is BBT's signature track. Goose bumps, lump in throat, tear in my eye - every damn time. Wow guys, what a song.
i don't think you can fault any part of TUY but i agree
First time listen for a few years. Same tears for the beauty of it all. Still my favourite line up. Miss David. Miss Danny. Miss Rachel. Miss Dave.
I was there in the second row, along with my daughter. Still think about the show most days, best gig I've ever been to. Goosebumps from beginning to end.
The best part about finding a band like this after they've recorded so much material is that I get to immerse myself in this wealth of sheer brilliance for a long time to come all at once. I now have yet another reason to travel to the UK. I must see this band live.
Ditto. Just discovered. Gobsmacked...
singer sadly passed, they have a new singer now. i didnt see it but i guess for all the people who tell me, you wont be getting that gabriel style sound....
Dave Gregory represents everything I love about music. Quirky, never boring and essentially British (I would say English, but I'm a Taffy!)
How the hell have I not heard of this band before? And then to hear of David's passing a few years ago. Elation and deep sadness at the same time. This is almost as good as the 70's got. Thank you Big Big Train. Rest in peace David.
Rikard Sjöblom is one of the most underrated modern-prog icons, for god's sake...
csitMusic Could not agree more
Miss Beardfish...amazing!
I've just discovered this. It's soaring, elegiac, victorious but mournful. I made sure my sons had a proper education in prog, and recently my eldest son introduced me to BBT. So, the wheel comes full circle. By God, there is still life in prog rock.
checks every box...musicianship, song craftsmanship, emotion, passion...a proper masterpiece!
Will never get tired of watching this.
I just discovered this band and song today. I doubt that I will make another musical discovery as amazing as this one in many months!
I purchased this whole production 'Stone and Steel' as a VIMEO download. For about a tenner you get three hours of beautiful and unique music (ok, it sounds a bit Genesis in places). Don't hesitate, download it now!
Amazing. Rikard Sjöblom is such a great addition to the band. Can't wait for the bluray.
The first song I ever heard by BBT, and honestly it is still my favorite. An absolute masterpiece.
Just listening to this after the loss of David Longdon. I hadn’t listened to BBT for a while. I’d forgotten how good it is, how great David’s voice is, and how much I love it. RIP, David ☹️
I can believe it. Due to a comment I read i have come to understand this singer no longer is among us. I took for granted I would see BBT when or if they came near by. The music is now even more prescient.
RIP David. You will be missed.
Masterpiece! Never imagined a trumpet (9:00 or so) could be so romantic
I am an avid Yes fan. And Genesis a close 2nd. And this song may be the most gorgeous I ever heard!
Absolutely Fabulous, I'm in tears again!
+Angus Prune Prooooone
Everybody is.
The entire concert must be made available on DVD. If enough fans of Big Big Train ask for it, they should release it. What a wonderful experience to share with people. Real music, well played, beautifully recorded and attended by true fans.
It's been a year since I saw this concert live at Kings Place and still, every time I watch this I'm in tears. Glorious music from beginning to end, but particularly that sublime brass ensemble finale... just superb.
I had to watch this tonight. I only heard about David yesterday! I cant process the news! RIP David Longdon!!
I thought it would be nearly impossible to replicate this amazing song live, but they ever surpass the studio version. Absolutely stunning performance of a deeply emotional song, brilliant, and Rikard is such a great addition. Wish I had been there.
I absolutly agree with You!
Prog music is REAL music! And Big Big Train are friggin' awesome!!!! Thank you BBT....just for being!
A very special band. David was a unique performer. RIP x
Was part of the privileged few to attend last month. Oh to relive all of this!!!
How in bloody hell does anyone still keep playing during this intense piece? I can't keep my eyes dry for ten seconds...
The end just made me cry
BIG BIG MUSIC !!!
This is fab, great memory of a great gig. They must release a DVD of this.
David, so sad. Still can't believe you're gone.
The tragedy is we'll never see them in Australia
WHAT an amazing band and I love David Longdons voice … gives me hope for the future of not just prog rock but music generally … along with bands like Magenta and artists like Peter Jones … fabulous
Great music I just find out now unfortunately based on news that David Longdon passed away such a loss … RIP
Gloriously emotional and simply stunning, uplifting music. Outstanding, just outstanding ...every moment, every note. Lost for words to describe how good this is really.
👍
Just seen it at Cadogan Hall today. Out of this world !!!!!!!!!!!!!
A very special performance by a very special band. thanks much for posting.
this is a very special piece of music. I hope everyone else enjoys this as much as I do...
Jeff Conciatori 👍🤗
Nice to see the old band once again...But it will also be good to see what comes with the new Big Big Train.
*sigh* perfect
Que CLASE tiene esta gente por dios.....
Beautiful sound...that I'm only discovering now.
Spent my only time away this year at the three nights of Big big train gigs ..stunning just stunning ...and this is only a small example of how good this was. ...
David, what a glorious, triumphant song and performance by everyone - thank you!!!
I love you
Rest well, David.
This whole song is a wonderful work of emotion, but the brass performance of the instrumental mid-section breaks your heart down to pieces. I've never listened to solos the same way again after this song. David will be heavily missed.
Damn I was here. And now he is now more :)
My favorite “new” band at the moment. All great musicians. I Hope when covid settles down they’ll finally make it to the States. I’m glad Dave Gregory found a great band to settle into after his time with XTC. He’s a perfect fit.
Fantastic band and perfomance. I just discovered them today.
I just discovered them today. A year later. Wow.
@@DonHornsby I also got to see them live this last fall. Just a fantastic live band.
The interplay between Nick and Dave Gregory is just fantastic during the canon riff. And caught so well on camera. I love iti was thrilled when they played this at Cadogan Hall.
Get it Nick!! Great to see a fellow Paisano tear it up. 🍻
Very good song from a very good band
Enfin, je découvre le groupe en live !!!! First time I see them on stage !!!! So great...
Words fail me... I'm just so happy this amazing band is there creating beautiful music like this for us and that their gigs in London in August were such a success! As I watch the video it's just like I'm there at Kings Place again... ☺
That's just a major miracle. Thanks BBT. Not since Heart of the Sunrise has prog glowed so bright.
Congrats ! This performance is already entered in the legend...
Simply wonderful...wish i'd been there.
I just love how this IPad manages to find for me more and more music that I would an do love!...
Great to see the band performing live.DVD please.
Perfection ! Absolutely Sublime !!!
Rikard's solo is just mindblowing. Even Gregsy looks over and smiles which is a HUGE compliment. This song brings me to tears even more now.
you say that, but were you at the 14/15 performance for steve wilson when you had marco min on the drums and guthrie gov on the guitar. surreal and the prog band marrilion went to see them as well in the crowd 😆
TOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Ridiculously tight. I bet the acoustics and mix were phenomenal for the audience as well.
tears in heaven. This is the real prog !
sublime.
One of the most musical, aurally dynamic, and heartfelt songs I've ever heard. Mission accomplished, folks! 🥰
BBT is one of the modern prog bands that doesn´t have metal or hard-rock influences but pure sinfonic-rock like Camel, Genesis...
There are others out there: Spock's Beard, Flower Kings, Transatlantic, etc.
Hard to say that they dont have hard rock on its shape. Even Genesis and Camel have.
Wobbler
And Renaissance!
With bands like BBT, IQ, Pendragon, Marillion, Riverside (hopefully, if they can overcome their recent tragic loss) and Haken (amongst others) all active, prog is in excellent health.
You forgot bands like Pineapple Thief, Steven Wilson, Gazpacho, Spocks Beard but I agree prog. rock is looking better than ever. I saw the prog. magazine awards last night, and BBT won best band of 2016. Says it all.
Don't forget Devin Townsend, he must be included as "proggy"
Yes! Also check out Wobbler. Their new album is absolutely incredible. Airbag is getting better too. And Anglagard is playing again :)
I tell anyone who'll listen to catch The Dear Hunter. Their Act V was prog album of the year in 2016, but there's about 10 hours of their stuff to catch up on, all very high quality.
dont forget arena
Magical - can't wait to hear/see more!
This is just absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic, just brilliant work. Congratulations guys.
Utterly Sublime - Incredible Musicians at the Very Very Top of their game - this band should be Massive
Magnificent. Memories of a magical August evening are flooding back...
Just wonderful.
Perfect !!!!!!! Woow .....
I was lucky and privileged to see all three shows - what an absolutely marvellous and emotional experience. Bring on 2017. Memories that will always be wonderful.
I am lost for words, emotionally draining, incredible
PLEASE DON'T STOP MAKING THIS TYPE OF MUSIC!!
Beautiful music
Great Band !
Really really great! Fantastic work everyone! :)
still brings me out in goosebumps on my tingle factors , sublime .
That was amazing. I really hope they release a set of DVD/Blu-ray's of all three shows.. Hell, even one would be awesome.
Truely a masterpiece, presented by fantastic musicians.
MAGNIFICO, CUANTO TIEMPO ESPERE ESCUCHAR ESTA MÚSICA, ME HACEN RECORDAR A GÉNESIS, PETER GABRIEL, O MARILLION, PERO CREO QUE SON GENUINOS Y ESPECIALES, OTRA BANDA TREMENDA, UNOS GENIOS!!! IGUAL USTEDES FLACOS NO ME VAN A ENTENDER PERO IGUAL LOS BANCO...............
i'm in tears too
Totally sublime.
This had me in tears on the Friday night and it's just happened again, simply perfect!!
If there is one band that picked up the baton that Genesis dropped many years ago, then this is it. I'm a new fan having found them only a month ago, and I can't find a song I don't rate. Awesome. And to top it off, their albums are a really good price from their own web site.
I've just found them
Agreed!! just found them now, but it's not new it's a mimicking of the Masters that took your life as a child by the music they made .and .I'm right there with you.
I'm delighted to hear these song birds
I just discovered them a year or so ago, and I’m enjoying immersing myself in the wealth of beautiful music that they have. It’s almost all I listen to lately. Boy, I hope they come to the US like they say they will.
I'll always find prog the most exciting music, I've Just listened to new kid, It must be the A&R person in me but I think he deserves a break. Click on link if you get a chance. ruclips.net/video/7G4-VpLf9X8/видео.html
Una belleza de tema y ejecución.
There are some songs (and bands) whose reputation is only enhanced by live delivery and this is one of those songs. It's hard to believe a tune with so much complexity and so many layers can be pulled off in this context in such a (seemingly) effortless manner. There are so many sections that make the hair stand up on end, the second guitar solo (spine tingling), the brass section, Dave's signature riff, the beautiful harmonies and not least Dave L's powerful vocal. Above all, the deeply emotional subject matter is perfectly captured. I only wish two things: that I had been there to see it and that an official live recording is released! Bravo guys and gals, this was magnificent.
Heard The Underfall Yard on my local radio station and the drums sounded great among other things. When I looked them up and saw Nick D on drums I recognised him from Sweetwater gear demos. He always gets a great sound. I'll be listening to more of this group :)
Brings it all back. What a gig!
Lovely thing to wake up to. I've heard nothing but the highest of praise for those shows, and from what I've just seen it's certainly well-earned. I do hope there's more coming.
Simply brilliant.
This IPad is filled to the gills with music both, old and new!!
Sibelius meets folk and rock together. Truly beautiful and uplifting, with excellent display of team work between the players.
Hope they perform this incredible piece of music this Friday on "Night Of The Progs" at the Loreley.
