I met Janie at an airport in the Quad Cities in IL. back in December, 2001 or 2002 (hard to remember, been so long ago), I got her autograph on a piece of paper and I thanked her very much for it. She was kind & polite, had a very beautiful smile. When I stepped away the gate agent asked me; "who is she" and I told her; "that is Janie Fricke, she's a famous country singer and song writer", then as I turned around to leave I had to walk past where Janie was seated and she told me; while I was talking to the gate agent, she (Janie Fricke) was looking in her purse/carry-on for something suitable for an autograph other than the previous piece of paper, and presented me with a 5x7 colored photo (that she had just autographed) of her siting on the floor beneath a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree. I did not expect that at all. It speaks volumes of her kind character and personality. That was over 20 yrs. ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday (I felt as if I were in the presence of greatness). Janie, I didn't know this at the time, but you are only 2-yrs. 364 days older than I. Janie, you are the essence of a sunny day.
JD could have sang the printed word off of junk mail and it would have been a hit. Absolutely one of the smoothest yet powerful voices in the history of music. He was a mainstay hit maker on country radio in the 70’s and thank God he was under marketed by his labels, so what you see was what you got, simply genuine. Amazing how he didn’t need lipstick, eyeliner, earrings, pantys, flames, smoke or a light show to deliver the goods. He was the real deal. And Janie.....don’t get me started, she was and is still a powerhouse.....pure class and talent. Nothing like the screeching brats/tramps that never mentally or emotionally, graduated junior high and that we have been forced to listen to them for the last twenty years on “country radio”.
Johnny was a personal friend...we were both from Dublin...he graduated high school with my Dad. Had one of the most pure country voices I've ever heard...they held his funeral at the biggest church in Stephenville Texas and it was literally standing room only...I miss him
Don’t know what year this video was recorded, but I’m sure it was way past the original hit. With that being said, it was still great and she could still melt every man in the audience with her voice!

Johnny Duncan was a great country singer, very underrated.
I miss sitting in a coffee shop in ft worth listening to this on the juke box while my dad and uncle smoked cigarettes and I ate toast and jelly.

Those two were having a GREAT TIME on stage. Best country!
Still remember this classic hit song on radio stations and tv show back then. My younger days . Pop Goes Country and Nashville on the Road.
There was that certain honesty in his voice that came only with the licks the country gives you.

What happened to country bumpkin the duet with janie fricke. ???
😊
Those shoulders she could have been a linebacker, but she sings great
Their are pads in the shoulders...….
Back then, most women wore lots of shoulder pads.
Sold gas to him a couple of times in stephenville, texas. Was a very nice kind man! Always welcoming!!
Ha! - 80's shoulder pads. They got bigger as the fad went on, until they started looking like wings!
Is Johnny dead
Awesome
