Also, for those who don't already know... you can use the superchargers as a wifi hotspot. You don't actually have to be charging either... just as long as you're parked nearby.
How does this work with navigation? - too bad you can’t use GoogleMaps via CarPlay - I like it’s voice and directions better - chooses better routes and roads.
Ok so, if I have Tesla’s Premium Membership, do I still need to share my hotspot in order to use apps in my Tesla? (Like Music Streaming, Navigating, etc.) Thank You!!!
I did try the keep connected, I just tried to keep connected to my home Wi-Fi too to see if maybe that will not shut the wifi off? not sure what 2 finger reset is? can you elaborate? @@EverydayChris
Depends on the weather outside. If your car constantly turns on due to the cabin being too hot, it will be a lower percentage. Also depends on how old your car is. The older cars battery life depreciates over time so it doesn’t hold much energy
My Tesla keeps asking me to connect to WiFi even when my phone’s hotspot is always on. Is there a way to make the Tesla always connect automstically to the phones WiFI?
Hey Chris, love your videos-very helpful & informative! For my 2021 Model 3 Performance I can get the car to connect through the hot spot and it does NOT disconnect in drive (box checked), however EVERY time I leave the car the wifi turns off and I have to press the LTE icon and switch wifi back on. SOO annoying! Do you experience this and is there any way around this? Thanks!
Thanks for the video, I’m just having a problem when using my phone as a hot spot, the thing is for whatever reason the wifi option on my Tesla model 3 2022, shuts itself off even when I turned it on, I’m thinking maybe Tesla uses this as a form to push you to get their connectivity package.
@@EverydayChris 🤔 no, I’m only using my cellphone as a hot spot, I thought the problem was my cellphone but then I realized the WiFi on the car was turning off by itself, I guess I need to use another cellphone to see if the issue persists, thanks again and greetings from San Bernardino CA, awesome channel you got.
Just got a 2023 Model Y. Love the hotspot feature and I an stream You Tube TV on it..only while parked it seems...anyway. When I leave the car the WiFi turns off. Can't you keep it on without having to turn on each time I get in the car? So annoying. I use Waze, which is way better than Tesla Nav...but I can only use it with my Hotspot on my phone...the annoying part is that it keeps turning off. I have tried the two finger reset....is that a default feature in the car to turn off ? I have premium conductivity as well, as soon as my 30 day trail is over. Any help would be nice.
@@EverydayChris I use up a lot of power....if this was a gas vehicle I would be filling up almost every day. Hard to keep off the throttle. LOL Thanks for the response...guess I will have to turn on every time...Ugggg Maybe an update will fix in the future.
What are the pro and cons of paying for Tesla's premium connectivity? I live in a apartment and my wifi won't reach. However, I have a large hotspot package with my phone.
Is it not possible to use Bluetooth on the phone to share data with the Tesla? all other cars allow this so you only need to have Bluetooth connected rather than Bluetooth AND WIFI
I want to enable Tesla software updates via cellphone hotspot. You said that it will do it, but you also said that you never tried it. I am wondering if it definitely does work. My model Y hasn't arrived yet but I am very interested to know this now.
My 16 S no longer finds or connects to WiFi. It did work in my garage for years but not since the last update. If I tap the LTE icon to search for WiFi it finds nothing, not even my phone's hotspot while sitting in the car. My phone finds my house and more. Tesla wants to sell me the Infotainment upgrade for $3000 to fix it but may just have a bad antenna or connection. I did have the door apart to fix the broken gear, but I doubt I disturbed the wiring for the antenna. Tesla says there is a WiFi module in the MCU that could be bad, but they will not sell me one and they didn't indicate it could even be replaced. Does anyone have a link to where the WiFi antenna splices connections are in the door, Tesla service said towards the bottom. I suspect the antenna has an amplifier in it so I probably can't do a continuity check. I have tried multiple re-boots, moved the car into the back yard to put it close to my Xfinity gateway and Tesla was supposed to have done over-the-air tests and reloads. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Could you make a video about what to do and what to not do at a Tesla supercharger. I just got a new Tesla and we’re about to go on a road trip and some hints would be helpful.
Get a giant wifi antenna (line of sight) and point it at your parking spot from your apartment window. Or if you dont have line of sight, get a giant omni antenna and crank it up. 😉
@@EverydayChris Thank you very much. I re-set the touchscreen, un-powered the phone, turned it on again, disconnected Bluetooth many times, and finally got it to pair!
My 2022 M3 LR frequently does not unlock unless i pull my phone (iPhone 13 Pro) out of my pocket. Is this just a thing or is there some super secret hack to make this work all of the time? The Tesla app is always running and location is set to always.
My Tesla app will not connect to car even though I can open door to car and drive as normal. Tesla app will not connect thru my home WiFi network even though it has always connected before. I reset my Iphone, deleted Tesla app, reinstalled in my condo, it still it take a long time to connect or not connect at all
Hi Chris, Great intro to using a cellphone hotspot & benefit of Premum Connectivity. I have Premium Connectivity, BUT wondered if I could use my Tesla cellular Connectivity to provide wifi for my PASSENGERS laptop while traveling? Thx! Cheers, Eric
Hi Chris, thanks for all your hard work on these really informative videos. I watched you A LOT when I was researching to buy my Tesla about a year ago. Keep up the good work man! How to update proxy settings when joining a wifi network? My apartment complex uses a proxy.
May not be possible you may be able to use a router and use the proxy to set up Wi-Fi

Can you do the opposite and use your Premium Connectivity to give internet to a tablet or phone?
I have my car now and I can answer my own question. The answer is no.
I connect my WiFi at my tesla and the softwar didn't downlaod what should I do ( please)!!
try 2 finger reset! then try forgetting network again. Make sure it can connect and security settings arent all crazy on the router itself.
I followed your directions and did the checkbox. But I constantly have to click on wifi and turn it on! Is there anyway to keep wifi on?

I think it’s an option stay connected to WiFi in drive but maybe not with hot spot

2 finger reset your car! It’s a bug. But once connected restart it and it should connect to wifi
@@EverydayChris still did not work. Tesla WiFI cannot get a IP address. It said check DHCP?? What is that?
