So I've put this on for at least the 20th time. The good news is I won't hear it through to the end. Again! That signifies a solid sleep. I will of course skip forward a little every subsequent night. Your narrations have a beneficial effect on many people. Isn't that great? Cheers Greg! Your readings are singular. 😀
Richteahoyle6825 Me too- have listened to these episodes many times. I don't need sleeping pills- the narration slips me into sleep. The narrator could bring tears to glass eye.
I never sleep when I listen to these. I’ve read them a zillion times and seen the videos and movies but listening is Thrilling!!! It’s suspense all over again. Greg is an absolute master! They are all brand new and fresh again and every story I listen to becomes my new favorite…until the next one. Many thanks.
Same here! I could never sleep when listening to this! If I accidentally miss several words I would go back to listen again until I catch each single word. What a marvellous story! Thank you, Greg, for the most beautiful narration!
One of my personal favorites, Greg. After listening to this, I had to immediately go watch the Jeremy Brett adaptation of the same story. The ending where he's so affected by LeStrade's admiration really lands with Brett's performance and is one of my favorite moments in his entire run as Holmes. Cheers, as usual, sir! o/
*It is hard for me to see/read these the way I could when I was young and being able to listen to them by such a superb reader with fabulous vocalization skills such as Greg Wagland shares... is a gift I shall always cherish, Thank you...* gw
Yes I too love the book's i can't get enough of them i put my phone im my pocket and listen to the book's when doing things about the house. Even when I'm in the car with my husband keep the book's coming thankyou
Same trope as was used by Conan Doyle in the 'hide the valuable inside a living goose' story. But superior to it, in using a wider canvas, encompassing Italian history and sociology. Beautifully read, as always. Text is a bit down on 'sallow' Italians resident in London during the late 1800s,(they tend to bite) but the author was a man of his times and must be read as such.
A general thanks for all of the sherlock holmes story Mr. Wagland! It's my first experience with audio books and it is a great one. I had an eye surgery a week ago and l must have listened to close to 20 stories by now. Keep them coming and l'll keep listening.
Thank you so much, Greg!!! I started listening to you a while ago , while recuperating from an accident (cracked ribs, damaged rotator cuff, etc, etc). To make matters worse, a few weeks after that I had a serious concussion (May 31st), and I can't even smell, taste or feel yet. I'm very worried, as you can imagine. You have no idea how much your readings are helping me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 🤗 I am lost for words, everything now is so confusing... It's still hard for me to think in any language 😢 Warm regards from Buenos Aires ❤️ God bless you! 🙏🙏🙏 🏵️
Look into therapy for traumatic brain injuries, I had the same thing after a car accident and if it wasn’t for the TBI program I wouldn’t be where I am today! Hope you get better!
Thank u so much for making this story easy for me when I read this book I understood nothing but after hearing your voice in the vedio I understood the story very well Thank u so much ,and your voice is very nice to hear 😊
Hi, Greg! This one is becoming my new bedtime story. The plot has SO many details! I still don't think I have heard it all the way through without falling asleep (I work 12 hour shifts) but I figured out how it ends. Or I read it somewhere once. Thanks!
Thank you again for your help getting through a difficult time. Like so many others I feel enormous gratitude for your wonderful audios. (The Elizebeth typo has proven unfixable..it should be Elizabeth)
Facts and clues are two different things. Make no mistakes. I listened to this one already but I will assume I shall get something that I missed the first time.
Hi Greg, thank you for your work. Could you put the text during the audio for all audio books ? It would be helpful to people who are learning english. Thanks 😉
Alexandre Sayin The Sherlock Holmes stories are in the public domain. They are freely available online. Should you put 'six napoleons conan doyle full text' in Google (or any other story) I do not doubt you will find several copies. Just print it and you will be able to listen, while reading 😉
Thanks a lot for your stories. I am a fan of your readings. BTW, I read the VALLEY OF FEAR 1, but didn't find the number 2. Maybe it has not been recorded yet?
I grew up reading the Sherlock Holmes stories. Now as an adult I find myself bored by the general drivel produced under the name of literature. I'm going back and listening to these now while I work alone late at night cleaning
He gave the blue carbuncle back! He said "I will drop a line to the Countess to let her know we have it" after he said he would put it in his museum. The dramatized TV version made it look like he kept it.
The man who owns the bust wasn’t a rich man? Holmes knows it contains a priceless black Pearl so get this man to sign over all right of the bust to Holmes?? So if anyone offers you 7 x what you paid for an apparently worthless item beware!! I think he should have at least split the money with the owner. Very dodgy Mr Holmes an already wealthy man!!!!😮
The Six Napoleons is without doubts one of my favorites, not only is it in a series of events, but also because it ends with a long lost treasure being found.
These readings are brilliant, but this particular recording could use a run through a sibilance filter because each use of the letter s is killing my ears. No offense intended of course.
I love this. Massive creds for not adding ads. I love you for that. This dude should get knighted ❤
Glad you like that. I’m sure the option will be removed at some point!

Great reading. Greg Wagland is the best Sherlock Holmes narrator !
Thank you gm or mg!!!
This is one of my very favorite Holmes stories.
Yes!!
I love these stories! Blood, guts and grown men fainting! True Victorian men's stories.
One of my personal favorites, Greg. After listening to this, I had to immediately go watch the Jeremy Brett adaptation of the same story. Jeremy Brett is the best Holmes in my humble opinion. 😊
That ending is beautiful.❤

Great story in a great series by a great author by the undisputed forever world historical champion of Sherlock Holmes narration!

Excellent narration by Greg Wagland
Thanks Gordana
Beautifully read; a pleasure to listen to as always.
The most gifted of readers a joy to listen
Thank you for another wonderful presentation!! Your voice just makes the story!!
Aaaaaw, Sherlock getting flustered is the most precious thing~
I bet he turned because he blushed.
Thank you so much for this audio. It is one of my favourite books but I've never heard it being so well-read!!!
Thanks for saying so, Scarlett. Appreciated!
Thank u so much for making this story easy for me when I read this book I understood nothing but after hearing your voice in the vedio I understood the story very well
Thank u so much ,and your voice is very nice to hear 😊
Excellent job on all the voices. Possibly my favorite (favourite?) reading. Definitely my favorite short story. Thank you.
It's a good one, certainly.
This - along with The Blue Carbuncle - are cozy classics in my family. We watch the Jeremy Brett adaptations of them, from time to time.
Good choice! Hound of Baskervilles and Blue Carbuncle are my favs 😊. And to me Jeremy Brett WAS Holmes!!! 😊

As usual, an absolute pleasure! 💐 Thank You 💐
Thanks again, Bears Lake!
I am already so excited! This is probably one of my favourite Sherlock Holmes stories. Thank you so much for this outstanding recording, once again!
Rick loves Sherlock he gets it right all the time.
Superb, world-class presentation.
I joined you on Patreon recently, but you are so convenient here on RUclips. Thank You Andy, Florida
Wonderful narrator
These commentors are cringe, but with a few I agree, that your readings are absolutely spectacular. Your channel is a treasure of youtube, thank you!
Thank you kindly!
Facts and clues are two different things. Make no mistakes. I listened to this one already but I will assume I shall get something that I missed the first time.
I think this is one of the best of the Sherlock Holmes stories and you read it a treat.
Ta!

"Promiscuous iconoclast" :-D
Fabulous reading. Thanks, Greg!
My pleasure!
Outstanding story. Put me out like a Tyson knockout.
The brutal power of the fictional sleep aid.
You keep 'em coming. I'll try and duck! Great content. Any chance of you doing Alfred Hitchcock?
so grateful for this
No worries
Glad you enjoyed
I heard the, (unmentionable) edited story, as this is, a vast improvement.
I meant read, “The Six Napoleons”.
Excellent... Thank you!
Classic. Brilliant. Sherlock Holmes is always a gorgeous hours listen.
Thanks for listening
Great story and a great reading. Thanks for posting it. I couldn't find my copy of the collected stories.

Thanks Vladislav. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks a lot for your stories. I am a fan of your readings. BTW, I read the VALLEY OF FEAR 1, but didn't find the number 2. Maybe it has not been recorded yet?
That's it exactly.
Cheers Antonio.
This was a nice one.
These readings were much better when not interrupted by the damned ads.
Hi Montana. Have disabled them, Thanks for letting me know.

Nihilists! Anarchists! Red Republicans!
He doesn't know what they are, but he knows what he's not. Politics in a nut shell. XD
20:57 I love this monologue, and the fact that this character mispronounced nihilist is a great narrative detail
So Holmes gets to keep the Borgia Pearl and the Blue Carbuncle?
He gave the blue carbuncle back! He said "I will drop a line to the Countess to let her know we have it" after he said he would put it in his museum. The dramatized TV version made it look like he kept it.
