As the trails have become more crowded over the last decade or so, especially with all the newcomers and the side-by-sides, I've come to the conclusion that a high bright amber light is essential safety equipment. I also wheel with them and they do well on the rocks. Good looking tire and they run pretty close to 37” (36.8” I believe). I have them in C rated and they flex well. Hope this helps!

Thanks Joey! This was filmed about a month and a half ago and the areas around Highway 31 from La Pine to Lakeview are definitely worth exploring. I have a few more videos I’m working on from trips in that area. Safe travels and happy hunting!
Yep, I hear that! I have a few core friends that I overland with that are easy going and on the same page. When I lead bigger groups with my Jeep club I change my outlook and understand it's mainly about hanging out, showing them a glimpse of what overloading is about, and not so much hardcore exploration.
Drone Stuff: I finally broke down & bought myself a drone this Christmas, especially as I'm having the opportunity to spend alot of solo time playing in the Siskiyous & Klamath Mtns. What drone are you flying? Are you piloting the drone on alot of those shots while you're driving? I noticed your wheels stumbling to stay in the tracks & figured it was due to flying the drone (no real safety issue when you're alone). Getting those kind of follow shots has been my biggest struggle. The significant, rapid changes in elevation & all our trees out here in the PNW make most of those shots nearly impossible without hand flying. I've tried the automated modes but the drone has a hard time with the rapidly changing elevation & trees. The only safe way I can do it is to send it way up above the ridge or tree tops and then my truck just looks tiny. All the sideway's stuff is super risky - just yesterday I tried to let it orbit me up in Bee Camp in Siskiyou County & it managed to hit the one tree that I hadn't realized was above it's altitude. It was a painful couple minutes watching it slowly tumble down the greenery - incredibly, I found myself hoping for it to continue falling as it looked a couple times like it was going to get stuck 20, 40, 60, 80 feet up. It's a DJI Air2S and to their credit it appears to have not broken - though I was chicken to test it out until I was back on a level plain where I could recover it if it failed.
I have the DJI Air 2s too and also a mavic mini for back up. I’ve learned to fly while driving but it’s tough! Takes a lot of tries to get a shot that can make the video. It would be nice to have a copilot!! I’ve crashed twice and one was bad enough to need a replacement. Luckily I got the replacement warranty though. Great talking with you RainGoat Pathfinder. Happy adventuring and maybe I’ll see you on the trail!
I keep coming back to this video. For me it perfectly captures the attitude and vibes of overlanding and camping in Oregon.

I also wheel with them and they do well on the rocks. Good looking tire and they run pretty close to 37” (36.8” I believe). I have them in C rated and they flex well. Hope this helps!
@@OverlandScout81 Thanks for the helpful information.
Anyway, loved the video. Liked & Subscribed. I enjoy seeing local material & that looked like some nice stuff that I would enjoy relaxing with. Are you based out of Bend now?
Thanks for subbing! Yep, I'm based out of Bend now. It's great to be closer to all of the areas I like to explore.
Always enjoy your videos and the great reminders of the home range! Whereabouts in Central Oregon was this trip?
Thanks Jake! This was southwest of Christmas Valley. It’s currently my favorite area right now and I have several trips planned to thoroughly explore this region. I’m actually in my RTT right now on one of those trips:)
Love the videos. What is the mount for the iPad Pro you have?
Thanks Nelson! I believe it’s a Ram mount but I got it along time ago and can’t recall for sure. I’m going to do a rig walk around soon and will be sure to include it.
@@OverlandScout81 thanks looking forward to that video!
Are those Baja Boss MTs in 37? Are they noisy on highways? How do you like them in snow?
What are those red things on the side of your Jeep? All those things in case you get stuck? Or are those fuel canisters?
They’re rotopax fuel cans mounted to a TrailRax mount. I generally carry 12 gallons of extra fuel which is probably overkill but I’ve had a few fuel scares in the past so better to be safe than sorry.
Nice video
Thanks Curt!
Excellent video as always. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get your music from?
Hey Cascadia Backroads. I’m using Epidemic Sound for music.
@@OverlandScout81 thanks for the heads up. I've been struggling to find good, free music for my own videos. Really like the acoustic vibe you've got going on. Thanks for the eye candy! Haha
@@cascadiabackroads my pleasure, hope it helps. They have a ton of music covering all genres and I’ve been happy with it. Subbed to your channel too. Looking forward to your adventures!
Yes sir
Nice!
What time of year was this trip? This was an amazing video. The music, editing and shots made it fantastic to watch. Another question, is that access to the trails off Highway 31?
Thanks Joey! This was filmed about a month and a half ago and the areas around Highway 31 from La Pine to Lakeview are definitely worth exploring. I have a few more videos I’m working on from trips in that area. Safe travels and happy hunting!
Solo overland is the best. I hate going with large group of people. They are always slowing me down or rushing me thru the trails
What a beautiful video. Really, just amazing work. “Truck Porn”, as my wife calls it, at its best!
Ha! It definitely is! Thanks for the compliment David!
@@OverlandScout81 For sure. Keep up the good work, and be safe out there.
🙂👍
Where is that?
Hi Jay, it's South/Southwest of Christmas Valley. Incredible area of the state.
