So many people choose to live in flood zones, in wildfire zones, along the coast (tsunami zones). Do most cities have crappy Emergency Management Plans? Yes! Absolutely, and that is mainly because it's so difficult and costly to plan for the what-ifs, because a lot can go wrong and in so many different ways. It's better for individuals to figure out their own situation. Anyway, greetings from NorCal...We know what it's like with these fires. We also vote against building more things that will congest traffic and cause issues during evacuations. As a result we don't get as much revenue, but we have less traffic. So this is the risk of living in highly populated areas with horrible traffic.

This! There is only so much that the government can do. There is only so much that Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters can do. People are in charge of choosing where they live. It's their own responsibility to look at maps and determine evacuation routes in various hypothetical situations ahead of time before anything real does happen. So many people choose to live in flood zones, in wildfire zones, along the coast (tsunami zones). Do most cities have crappy Emergency Management Plans? Yes! Absolutely, and that is mainly because it's so difficult and costly to plan for the what-ifs, because a lot can go wrong and in so many different ways. It's better for individuals to figure out their own situation. Anyway, greetings from NorCal...We know what it's like with these fires. We also vote against building more things that will congest traffic and cause issues during evacuations. As a result we don't get as much revenue, but we have less traffic. So this is the risk of living in highly populated areas with horrible traffic.

I remember getting fined for cutting down a small tree and clearing out undergrowth in my own yard after several fires were caused in our neighborhood from storms when I lived in CA. They said I didn't have a permit. A couple years later Berkeley burned up. Bump that state!
