I typically take at least my magic users off when I'm grinding. Try to make grinding as mindless as possible, but for anything where I could potentially get KO'd it's full speed ahead with Take Commands. I get you though, you can end up in some difficult random encounters on this game sometimes and get KOd on fight wisely lol

I usually leave all my Party Members on "Take Commands" because I don't want things to be left up to full chance
