I worked for the architect's that designed St George's park , yes it was designed in Newcastle . I had the privilege of taking the full scale model down to Wembley quite a few times , the project was sworn to absolute secrecy for over two years because of the complications it would have caused . It was Burton Albions training ground that the FA bought , I could not tell a soul what was going on and the parallels with Leazes park are virtually the same . Nobody says anything until it's a done deal , urban green looked after it and the council took it back off them . Why ? Leazes park has had its day and it had to come to an end sometime , the money generated by a new stadium will be massive for the city and everyone profits from it . Mark my words , it's going to happen. Of that I have no doubt .
I wonder if Newcastle will get the same government backing for the surrounding area as what Man Utd are getting🤣 We are now known by the government as The Forgotten North as investment by any government doesn't get past Stratford..
Also, we all now know that this government is working for WEF , Davos have kier, Gary neville , Beckham, ferdinand, andy Burnham explains alot of how Manchester will be funded by the taxpayers 🤢 like you say we are the lost land as far as this government is concerned.....
Once all are on board planning etc
3 years build fast track
Of course we won’t. Manchester has a mayor in Andy Burnham who knows what he is doing compared to the muppets at our Civic Centre!
We cannot make the mistake of building a new stadium which we will outgrow within months. With a capacity of 80,000 we can keep all fans happy and attract far more bigger events like boxing, internationals, big named concerts that the northeast misses out on at minute, champions league final, etc.
Would you risk loosing the atmosphere being that size ?
@@lukesheppard8526There's plenty of ways to design the stadium so that the acoustics envelopes it. But we also need a decent atmosphere...
Stadium will have option to expand in future
I hope this is the case. I reckon that 80,000 seats would sell out most games @@macca5986
70,000 seater is maybe not big enough.
Need an 80,000 seater stadium, it can't be smaller. Especially as it will take 4-5 years to build. As where is NUFC going to be by then and how many people and fans will want to be part of it!! We already have 52,000 and 10,000 - 15,000 that want tickets (sth) and then tourist fans from around the world and then 180+ boxes and the whole commercial effect
Stadium capacity needs to be 90,000 or more, as over 52,000 already go, plus there's a waiting list of 30-40,000 who can't get tickets so it needs to be done, no point spending over £1 billion jst to add 8-10,000 seats plus it needs to look amazing so it rivals old Trafford wembley and other stadiums around the world
Can easily upgrade new stadium if needs be
Build a new stadium on Leazes and turn the current stadium site into a new, mega fan zone similar to what Man City are doing. Then we could build a club owned hotel on the site of the Stack fan zone. Plenty of opportunities to maximise our PSR.
then we can sell the hotel to ourselves
It's not going to happen .. Leazes Park is now a grade 2 listed conservation area & has been added to English Heritage's register of parks & gardens.
You'd struggle to get permission to build a garden shed there, let alone a new stadium!
I've been against a new stadium but this is basically rebuilding St. James Park from scratch with it being near enough in the same place... so if we can't expand SJP then lets get it built and if fans are not happy then as the saying goes... "if you build it, they will come" (pause)
As long as the capacity is north of 75k and within a few feet of SJP then it's OK with me - and I really have NEVER wanted to leave SJP
I remember the picket fencing around 1963 and the west stand and clock etc.. watching us win the inter cities fairs cup "magic" memories that live forever.
Reminiscing but remembering the old .. beacause without a new stadium i dont want fans waiting as long to see us win the league or major cups etc as i have been waiting since ujpest dosza 😊
I hope it’s one of those stadiums that’s easy to expand because 70,000 isn’t enough.
Hopefully they are just playing it safe with that capacity and plan to quickly expand if things progress and success comes.
Sorry to say but a 70,000 stadium is NOT BIG ENOUGH.
WE NEED A 100K SEATER STADIUM.
A proper Wembley of the North...!!
Think of all the FA Cup Semi, Carabao Cup Finals, Olympic events, Commonwealth Games, Concerts and the list gaans on that the new stadium can hold in the future.
Tottenham’s stadium project took around 18 years from initial planning to completion:
• 2001-2007 - Early discussions and feasibility studies.
• 2008 - Official plans for a new stadium were first submitted.
• 2010 - Planning permission granted.
• 2014 - Land acquisition and preparation began.
• 2015 - Construction started.
• 2019 - Stadium opened (April 3rd, 2019).
So from first planning submission (2008) to opening (2019), it took 11 years. But if you include all the initial discussions and site negotiations, it was nearly two decades in the making.
A new Newcastle stadium would likely face similar hurdles-land issues, planning approvals, and potential local objections-so it could easily take 10-15 years unless they fast-track it. That’s why some fans prefer expanding St James’ Park instead.
Would you be happy waiting that long for a new stadium, or do you think they should just go for the quickest expansion possible?
@@Plymonk666 Very different here to getting permission to build & then planning in a built up London. Our City Council will do anything to make sure its biggest asset extends or builds within the city boundaries , there'll be no trouble, especially as they don't intend on impinging on our beautiful, Grade 1 buildings right next to the current stadium whereas Spurs have had a Grade 1 building included inside their stadium, that's why it took so long !
Yes yes yes for the new stadium, be good if they could bump capacity to 75k to have the second biggest stadium in the uk
I feel the biggest part of moving is allowing for expansion room, moving away from the listed buildings will help massively when we expand to 80/90k in a decade
75k would be the third biggest stadium in the UK
Anything smaller, 70,000 what's the point of moving from st james park? PIF and NUFC want extra income and want to be No:1 in Europe. 80,000 has to be the way
9:36 they played the ‘Sunderland card’ specifically to highlight to the council it’s a non-starter ground share, and if not giving this planning we would have to move out of city location taking its ‘fans’ business away from the shopping centre; which council will not let happen else all those business will go nuts.
They are purposely, publicly, removing options to leave only the one they/we want, new stadium, no losses taking down old before building new, as the new will be build around the old, they are playing this perfectly and exactly how I would instruct them to do… 9:36
It needs a walk way over the top that mirrors the Tyne Bridge so I can be seen for miles and do roof tours
As much as i love SJP and still remember the first time standing under the old scoreboard 😢 a new stadium is the way forward and lets be honestly SJP is a bit of a concrete dump
70,000 capacity is not ambitious enough. 80,000 minimum I reckon. There are (allegedly) 120,000 people with memberships man.
5 year ago they give 10k tickets away for free.
@Marco65730 under Cashley & I hate the man still because one of those seats was mine in order to force him to sell & it did..however, because of Eales I was unable to buy my seat back on the say after takeover , What IS it with little, fat, power mad men ?
Oh, before anyone says it's my own fault, think on this, Wor Flags left the day I did and got their seats back straightaway (ironically I give £5 a month to Wor Flags so YOU can see those fabulous displays !)
I don't know who is advising the club, clean piece of paper and you still can't build the largest stadium in the country.
Wake up ffs
Have the club published details ? if not then let’s wait and see
70,000 is only 17,000 extra. By summer 2022 we had 33,000 memberships & since 2023 they have had memberships open 24/7 to buy ! We need 80,000 and make sure they're NOT extra hospitality seats because that's exactly why the atmosphere goes flat now.. new folk, only just discovered NUFC in the last 3 years & sit back & want to be entertained, never think of themselves being part of how the team can be helped !
100% need a new stadium, otherwise we will forever have our hands tied. It’s already going to take 5-10 years to cement ourselves imo. Leazes park is a shit hole currently, if they build behind the current footprint, I imagine they’ll have something in their contract that they’ll make our current footprint into a newer park, one that looks decent for fans to walk through on the way into the stadium and not full of crack heads.
When a new stadium was mooted I was against. However at Leazes Park with 70k it’s a perfect solution. 👍👍👍
I knew the new stadium would be built this way! It was the most obvious option. Keeping SJP open to us fans - so no need for ground sharing - while the new stadium (3 sides was built with the 4th side added once SJP was demolished). If the new stadium is going to be anything like the Mercedes Stadium in Atlanta - I’ll be well happy!!
I love St James Park, it’s such an intimidating place for any team to come to who find it a difficult place to play. In an ideal world we would stay, but since this is one in a lifetime investment we simply have to move to a new stadium as it sets up our whole financial future basically for free. My only concern is that we must keep the stadium intimidating by maximising the use of Newcastle fans. I loved the idea of our version of the yellow wall. I feel like we need features like this as it will absolutely compliment our fans and keep it a cauldron to play in. Not sure about the bubble wrap either. I prefer the artist impression of Leaves Park Stadium and keep it traditional.
I think there's a chance here to give a massive boost to the entre economy and infrastructure of the city as a whole. I hope the powers that be - and of course all Geordies - realise this. It's not just about the football club - though of course that is such an important element of the whole city and wider region. The business of being in Europe and having thousands of supporters flocking to Newcastle from all over Europe would be fantastic. Let's do it!
Definitely all ok for this plan 👌 was against rebuild if out off city but this is a plan i can get on board with
New stadium is the only logical solution, SJP simply can’t be extended enough in the modern game vs the cost to the new infrastructure, and with all the other bigger clubs already improving and even smaller clubs extending to 60,000, so this keeps us in line with other growing clubs
Maybe unpopular with people wanting to stay at Gallowgate, but I’d say it makes more sense to buy up the land the arena is currently on and build there. Still near enough to the city centre and you’d get a decent stadium plus hotels, restaurants etc. There’s also a railway line to central station running along there so they could even add a station
Something like Mercedes Benz Arena in Atlanta would look better than the bubble wrap style and it’s 71,000 capacity
Unreal stadium!
I know for a fact that a couple of Newcastle’s hierarchy were in America the back end of last year looking at the best stadiums in the US
But it also has an artificial turf pitch. They only laid natural turf for that summer series (and will do so again for the World Cup). A dome stadium like that can only work if they can open the dome regularly to sustain a quality natural pitch, which I'm sure is possible, but not cheap. It would be exciting.
If the ground was big enough you could get the young supporters maybe to pay 10 quid a game get them hooked like we were during the sixties and seventys then thats your future fans for the next 50 years the old will die off and the young there to replace them got to think about future support we need at least 80,000 capacity
80 / 85,000 seats!!!
Like the look of it. Good location. Some will whinge but it's worth it and if the Club are smart they will invest in revitalising the park as well. Great for tourism model if you have a Hotel behind Gallowgate with the Metro and a Stadium/Park right next to it
Great video Matty
I was looking at the table today . Man City already have a bigger better squad than us . We are on the same games, wins , losses, draws, even F’in goal difference. Yet we have to sell two players and they can sign £130 mill worth of players. How is that fair on Financial FAIR PLAY ????
I hope fans understand when we don’t finish top 4 and they do this is NOT eddies fault ! Keep up the good work pal . Ps New stadium for me mate defo
Extending SJP won't give a big enough return on the money spent & it won't increase our revenue enough to really compete with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool & Man City.
A new stadium won't just allow more revenue from games (compared to an extended SJP) it will also hopefully be used for other events increasing our revenue even further.
That's what Spurs did by making their pitch retractable with an NFL pitch underneath to put on NFL games - the view from the seating is much better than at SJP too.
Hopefully new stadium will have some general safe ticks as a mag+ member not getting anywhere with tickets great video matty mate
Be a lot of new corporate seats mate so get the lottery on!🤣
@@TheMagpieChannelTV you know mate lol
It's only hour and a half on the train to Edinburgh I do it every home game with being a season ticket holder and the tram system goes right to Murryfield
70k is good maybe another 15k can get tickets with 5k going to corporate, hopefully it will be made where it can be easily expanding on once we are winning trophies we could fill 80-90k
The Newcastle tax has really worked
Hopefully they move the memorial bricks to the new stadium. We have many gens of family in them
Yes we need a full walk through of PSR...when and how do get out on the other side and be able to spend accordingly??
Build new stadium in Leazes and then an arena where St James once was. 20,000 seater, attract the biggest artists and shows right to the city centre. Loads of revenue for local business and the city
I'm in favour of a new stadium but I have to be honest, I hate the bubble wrap Bayern Munich stadium... from the outside that is, inside and close up to the pitch, nice, bring it on.
Glad the fam can is coming back.
80 000 seater sounds perfect remember population getting bigger and waiting for season tickets is 25 000 so makes sense eh
Over engineer the foundations so the new stadium can be further expanded if (when) needed. Its what Geordie Stephenson used to do!
They need it to be 70k plus with also room to expand if needed. Future proofing is everything.
I'm for a new stadium, expansion won't solve anything.
I don't think 70,000 is big enough & everyone will still call it St.James 😊
I think tottenhams ground took 3years,1year over the time they originally quoted. I was delivering to the sight taking insulation there.
I think only media people are complaining about the January window. I see it as an emergency measures for clubs (Man-City) and not window to try for solid business. We are okay for now. Summer is office hours.
Anotjer brilliant vid matty, where did yoy get the prints behind you on wall by the way
@@anthonystronach8026 thanks mate, wor flags website
Cheers bud, am gonna be skint but the mancave will look cool
they could put a temporary satnd above the east stand therfore solving the lost seats as its only a temp stand i rekon the cocuncil would ok it .
just do a forrest buy who you want take the six points move forward
Tempting like isn’t it!
We havent got the balls .. it seems eddie and pif are just us plodding along ..
Everton overspent by 20 million got 10 points deduction talked down to 6 so if we spend the likes of 60 million we could get 18 to 30 - points deduction . So that’s not realistic and it’s Newcastle United the club the PSR rules got changed to stop do you think we can get 6 points knocked off for a 60 million player overspending, it would stop us getting mid table and could even get us relegation battle,
@@LGlifeisgood city took them to court it was deemed not lawful so they had to rewrite it not done yet so no rules so how can they give you any point deduction if no rules in place ???
@@johnrowland6144 the city court case was due to sponsors they changed the rules 10 days later as the same clubs all voted for it ,it changed nothing, that’s how Everton got their 10 dropped to 6 because they voted for it ,
Im not a newcastle fan but having watched the likerly lads i think the players should run on to the pitch with that soundtrack as it mentions cathedral in the sound track and thats what st james park is called by your fans.just a thought for all of you all.after all it was filmed in newcastle?
There will come a point if that design goes ahead that we will have to ground share for probably 2 years. It's almost exactly what happened with White hart lane and the new ground. Spurs played at Wembley for 2 years... Sunderland is the only viable option which tbh sends shudders down my spine....
Eucchh! A bit of sick came up briefly!!
Our esteemed Sporting Director begged for the club to put out a good news story……….et voila!
70k isn't enough I'm sorry but we could fill that easily. That's 60k season tickets at most... That's not a massive uptake over what we have at St james. I'd rather upgrade at James to 63k than build a 70k stadium. Makes no sense at all. Build a whole new stadium for an extra 9k seats? It's a joke. Should be at least 80k seats.
that is more season tickets than SJP has CAPACITY, that is an immensely good upgrade
The overlapping makes sense, they can still play at st james with a limited capacity and wont have to move.
Hopefully new stadium but i want it to have a resemblance of st james park
for 1.2 billion or less they could move the current stadium using hydraulic jacks.
Its ashame the rules have come to this. Ideally we stay at st james but the rules as they are mean the more revenue you generate the more we spend. Have concerns though about the atmosphere of new stadiums we need to keep that atmosphere. Last thing we want is a souless bowl like west ham or Tottenham's stadium with no atmosphere.
It was like a library against Fulham iirc.
This is like our transfer windows... Slow.. And can't make a decision... Build a shiney new one.. Yes a few fans won't like it...but u can't please everyone... All this asking fans what they want.. Doesnt work...
The longer it's put off the cost will keep going up due goods etc costing more each year.
Regardless this is a must to help us with PSR going forward
70,000 is okay IF a built-in capability to increase that to 80,000 is included.
75 maybe 85 seater stadium.... n
I agree with a new stadium but we should go for 100,000. The club will attract a larger crowd as the club grows and big revenue from sporting events, group performances etc.
My heart says, keep the old stadium but logic says we need a new one. It is the only way we can increase revenue and love the plans to keep it as a "New Castle" on the hill
A 75K BRAND NEW STADIUM INSIDE ST JAMES PARK
ignoring the red tape, the actual physical building of the Spurs stadium took 3 years
Hopefully in the summer we won’t hear , we can’t spend again because of PSR and FFP. We haven’t had any first team squad players come in during the last three transfer windows.
A new stadium 🏟 80 k
If they don’t put the prices-up, that will only add £26m a year on current income per seat levels.
We need sponsors and more sponsors and more sponsors..!
70,000 a bout right, have to balance out being able to fill it with lesser fixtures as well as demand, anything above that is too much for week in week out use
I can already see the 'lozers park' jokes
Newcastle's record home attendance is 68,386 for a First Division match against Chelsea on 3 September 1930
…and 000s more couldn’t get in!
They gonna have to build one hell of a stadium to win me over !!
New stadium yes. Capacity needs to be 80-90k and multi purpose.
Got to hit 70k at the "very least", 1.5b, big numbers. 75/80k for me
Was it not said they may have to stretch the elastic band regarding the city centre?, so the outskirts of the city centre?
As you said, certain you tubers said there was no way they would build on leazes Park, and of course, nothing is set in stone, after all the Telegraph were always sticking the knife in regarding the take over, I'm always wary of them.
I'm more than happy if it was Leazes park, but instead of howking all the grade two listed park up, why not stick it on the town moor, ok it's listed but there is nothing on it, no victorian terrace or bandstand or wildlife, it's ten minutes walk up from SJP, one kilometre. Imo a new stadium would look fabulous there, and as i mentioned if they are going to allow our main park in the city to be used which is of course listed, then why not that perfect open empty space on the Hoppings site.
It's going to be very interesting what they come up with.
There are allegedly 120,000 people with memberships
fantastic news this is the way to go, the best of both worlds!!!
its a no brainer...new shiny state of the art stadium. Just look at the designs for the Saudi world cup stadiums. Beer glasses filling from bottom of glass like Spurs. How do they do that ! 2nd biggest Prem stadium. It is a no brainer not least as it would be so close to SJP
I'm interested in a PSR vid, as you asked.
I wholly endorse this 🥳
I 100% thought that was a sponsor coming in when you got that delivery 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Looks good.
We had a too pay Chelsea this season for Lewis hall
To get the revenues to compete they need to charge exorbitant ticket prices that the fans will be unwilling to pay. It's very short-sighted of the Saudis to invest in such a poor area when there were heaps of better options.
A new stadium will be amazing might get tickets through the ballet system now as ain't getting any what's the point in the membership if ain't getting tickets
I'm all for a new stadium. More financial income to bring in so much more revenue for players. SJP is the cathedral on the hill and I'll miss it but we need to move forward and stop relishing on the past.
build it bigger than old trafford, 76k minimum
Ooooffff I'll be pushing 60 by then.
Tell me about it mate! My first game was 1975. Fifty years ago! Where did the time go????!!!!
I honestly think 70k is too small. We don't want to just compete. We want to dominate and should be looking at 80 to 90k. We need to make a statement to the premiership
Matty i would rather you did a vid waking your cat, than on f+++in PSR, keep up the good work!!!!
Sunderland fan here u need 80 k plus
Some of you folks asking for an 80k+ stadium is fkn nuts 🤣
We need to turn up tomorrow am hoping that we don't try and protect that 2-0 score cos its gonna be a long night we need to turn up and get at them am not looking forward to this game to be honest
For an 80k seater the infrastructure definitely needs some investing in, it’s bad enough going to an existing game on the unreliable Metro
it took 3 years for spurs to build their stadium
Breaking News!!! AKA Unconfirmed pr spin with vague stadium news to distract our attention away from another bad transfer window.
I look Wikipedia page Tottenham hotspur stadium built from 2016 to 2019
Niceone, cheers!
@TheMagpieChannelTV your welcome. Howay the lads
Took 3 years to build Tottenham stadium, so 6 years appears to be a bit long
Yes, I want a new stadium cause I can never get a ticket for me and my son
The Tottenham ground was estimated to take 9 months by the builder at first 😳
3 years according to Google
That’s builders for you, they’re all the same haha
