If you're wondering if it's just put on for the camera, yes, he really does smile that much - and has a distinctive laugh that echoes around the office!
Mate, this is WONDERFUL! Also pointing out your won personal weaknesses you want to improve on and showing your own self-reflection is just great and humanises you. No one is perfect and it just makes you more authentic. LOVE IT!
This was rather more interesting than I thought it would be. What an interesting guy. Leading a team of professionals is a 'fickle business', but I think I would be happy to have him as my boss.
Let's not forget the founding heritage of Mercedes HPP that started long ago back in 1983 (40 years this year), that of Ilmor Engineering, who designed and built winning engines for Indycar in the US. Founded by Mario Illien after leaving Cosworth, and Paul Morgan (whose names lend themselves to the company title), and with backing from General Motors, the V8's the company produced were branded Chevrolet and went on to achieve great success. Then in the early 90's Mercedes came seeking assistance to return to Formula 1, thus the partnership was born and went on to win with McLaren before Mercedes gained a controlling interest in the firm and it was rebranded in 2002 as Mercedes-AMG HPP as it exists now. There is a very fascinating book entitled "Prime Movers" by Karl Lugvidsen that details the history of Ilmor into the late 90's and early '00's, even covering the involvement Adrian Newey had with them when he was at March. I was fortunate enough to meet Mario Illien at Goodwood Revival last year, and he was very kind to sign my copy of the book, as well as Messrs Newey whom I managed to pin down in the staging area as his son, Harrison, prepared to take to the circuit. Ilmor still exists as a separate company now, just down the road from Mercedes' factory in Brixworth, where they specialise in marine and bespoke power units for advanced applications.
Big love from Belgium to Howell ! what a person with great personality . I love to see you in video even though you don't like :D . thank you for your work !!!
Thank you so much for these videos. This series never fails to impress me with how many different job titles, positions, and skills are needed to make these cutting edge engineering marvels we call F1 cars and to coordinate all these dynamic components into a cohesive team effort. Quick question about the powertrains though. Is it in your contract for Mercedes AMG HPP to provide McLaren and Williams with the same level of support that you offer the Mercedes F1 team? Let's say, hypothetically speaking, mid season you discover a weakness in the power train that could be improved with an upgrade. Would you notify all three teams of the issue and the fix at the same time or does Mercedes F1 team get preferential treatment?

PU potency is not so important nowadays. What really matters in the engine is the torque curve, it is where significant gains are found. A little engineering: Power = Torque x Speed. As speed (n exceeds 350km\h stagnated due to aerodynamic drag, today it is much more worthwhile to work on Torque where the limit is the tire.
Great team, & even greater bunch of people. To fill in the shoes of Andy Cowell, that's a remarkable achievement. Now let's put some xtra horses into the PU...
Watch as red bull have a new back end look at back of wheels as they have a very air force peace air over back not tail wing at will full on any thing be hidden am not wrong
Another team member video resume for the competition to know better and try to make a offert? Mercedes in the last year loss to many important people.😢

Why does it feel like the video has been sped up or shot at slower fps like 24 & then encoded at 60fps
awesome but the office cubicles are really small and congested

Can you show us James' Vowels role in the team?

My garden father woken at same work place as you long time ago
Can I get a job here.? Looks a well nice working environment!!!
Suggestion to the edit team of the clips: change the text color of the subtitles to PETRONAS blue 😇
Perkins Engines to in charge of HPP, that is some career
What’s the difference between Mercedes and AMG? Can anyone explain it to me?
amg make the performance vehicles
i hope you found a few horses in the PU for this year
I love Mercedes AMG
Can the engine be improved even with the freeze ?
Or is Mercedes stuck with this gp2 engine ?
It can only be updated for reliability reasons until the new engine format arrives in 2026.
some performance improvement is "inevitable" during reliability upgrades, if you know what I mean 👀
Certainly doesn't seem like a guy you'd want as your boss or manager.
This is why Newey wins he sits all alone in office and if someone dares speak to him they get a neck shot from the secretary
🙌🙌👍👍
👆👍
Nice. But make the W14 Faster. Or get Rory Byrne from South Africa
give the W14 some horses
🙏💖
