    Joe, you are wonderful. The effort you put into bringing this to us is unimaginable. You bring us all to the "Tent" so to speak and we can, for a short time, join you in a heavenly wilderness lifestyle. Thank s so much for doing these videos. Please keep them coming.

    Joe, it’s been a few years since I watched this video and I have to say, the spirited young woman in the vid is much the same today. It’s fun to watch you with your kids, doing over them like they’re still babies. What a great dad you are. Look, today, at how the kids have all turned out. Can’t see reality through this lens, but they sure seem great to me. Mostly, I love and miss the teasing and joshing from those day. God bless you all, Joe. I have really gained much from your sharing of these deer camp vids. Thank you, Math Brown

    Sara looks great, seems like forever since we've seen her! Your Pops looks so relaxed in his cabin, it is just beautiful. I really enjoy your subtle sense of humor :)) flames out the side of the grill "that doesn't look good" :))))) Two tangerines "makes it healthy" ha ha Ok maybe it's a woman thing but the real plate and utensils were perfect!! Better luck next week but for us, it sure is beautiful to watch from our warm homes :)))))

      Melody Capehart Medina Thank you. I always love it when Sara or Zachary goes up and wish my Daughter Emily would. Emily prefers to do things with her Mom but maybe someday that will change, I no longer beat myself up over it and just have a great time with who ever decides they want to come up. I make sure I have lots of food. As far at the utensils, My idea of being prepared for an emergency is having lots of paper plates and plastic spoons and forks so I can preserve the dish soap for bartering... LOL

    I must say sir, you are a fantastic father...at least judging by the videos you put up. I too was raised by and am still learning from an amazing father. (I am 31 years old.) But as long as my father is around I am gonna continue to learn from him, as it seems Sara will from you sir. I am sure she enjoys the time with you as much as you do her sir. Best of luck with future endeavors and keep the vids coming. They help me retreat from my desk job while at work.

Can't decide: Awesome dad and a wonderful host, or awesome host and wonderful dad, but I know you enjoy taking care of your daughter(s) as I would. I have replaced 4 gas grills in the last 5 years. I seem to be where people drop off their grills when they decide to move. The last 3 were old enough to only have single burners. I havent found repair parts for a single burner grill. So I salvaged the regulator and grates and rollers for the lower frame then turned the rest into scrap metal. This last one I bought new. I had to replace the drip tray they call the flavor enhancer. Then I had to replace the burners. Letting them sit over winter seems to make them rust faster. But new burner and replacing the regulator with the plastic knob with the old style brass nut that you need a wrench for made it into a good grill again. I have a offset smoker charcoal grill like yours here too. the convenience of being able to light the burner and be cooking in 15 minutes is too big to get around

    Missouri deer numbers are down too, but it looked like a good season from the numbers I saw. I think they are going to adjust the number of any deer permits for next year...we had blue tongue really bad...the conservation agents went down the Maries river, and counted over 150 dead in or near the river...not good.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  10 лет назад +2

      ***** I have never heard of blue tongue, I will have to look it up. We had a horrid winter here and the wolves had easy pickens with the deep snow. What happens is that the snow is deep then the sun comes out and a crust gets on top of the snow that will support the weight of the wolves but the deer still break through. The deer get tired from running and the wolves are still doing fine. Also the Dept of natural resources has had too liberal limits since 2001 they said in the paper and now its starting to show. I will be back in my stand tomorrow afternoon. Thank you.

    • @HoneyHollowHomestead
      @HoneyHollowHomestead 10 лет назад +1

      Oh wow! I remember we had a bad year with blue tongue about 5 or so years ago in my area. I don't hunt, but I remember the hunters talking about it. :( It's nasty business.

    • @mountnman100
      @mountnman100 10 лет назад

      JoeandZachSurvival Blue tongue here in SW Michigan too. 2 - 3 years of it. This year they have recovered but doe permits are pretty much sold out and each license went to $20. Btw, blue tongue is also known as EHD. I believe your problem is just too many damn wolves.

  • @jimmiller4023

    Thanks for sharing the first week of deer camp with us. Michigan's firearm season started November 15 and runs through the end of the month. I have to miss all of it ths year, finally got back surgery today and am doing well and on the road to recovery.
    The State DNR had two propositions on the ballot this year to legalize creating a wolf hunting season and both got shot down. Our wolf population isn't quite as large as yours, but given some time I'm sure it'll become a factor in deer populations.
    Enjoy the rest of your season, looking forward to enjoying your deer camp in the next episode!

    Thanks for sharing. Sad about the low numbers. Back in Wisconsin before we moved my hubby was a taxidermist plus we both hunted. We have seen over the last couple years the deer numbers go down. And luckily we moved out here to Idaho two years ago missing that long deep freeze that really affected the herds. WE are just gearing up for our rut out here. A little later then you guys back in Minnesota. Looks like you still had a nice time!!

    Great video. I really enjoyed the whole thing. As a bowhunter in southeastern Ontario I know the feeling of sitting in a stand day after day through the cold of December without seeing a deer (especially bucks if I don't draw a doe tag). It sure is a far cry from those outfitter videos where the hunters see dozens of deer but only want to take those that are 150 and up. Oh yeah, like posted below, I found myself getting very, very hungry watching this! lol

    Your daughter is a trooper, getting up early every morning. A lot of men would have elected to sleep in on them cold windy mornings. You must have spent a lot of quality time with her in the outdoors for her to have that kind of passion for it. Now you are reaping the rewards. Good job dad

    Love the Mustang Sara, I have a 96 GT, but have to say it is the worst vehicle in the snow.

    Another nice video. You know what they say. A bad days hunting is better than a good day at work. Thank you for sharing. Good luck on the next hunt. :o)

    I just started watching your 2014 .. Now here is a tip and you may know this but in case you don't this may help .... A fellow friend/hunter uses those chemical hand warmers , Hottties brand for his camera battery and camera too... He bought a nylon case /cover for the camera and it has outside pockets and he just stuffs a Hottie hand warmer in the pockets it has several pockets on it.. Oh too those Hand warmers as i buy them by the case have different sizes inside the box... You hunt where it get colder that where i live...

      Being a master hunter along with doing fine camera work , i kinda thought you may be on to using the hands, feet, body Hotties ... I had not thought about phones but why not they help make the battery last longer... I'm watching season 2015 , it's nice you have family that comes up to hunt too.. Good food too ... Thanks for the tip, i found Johnny's seasoning salt Hunter Blend and ordered some ..

    Good luck, same problems over here in Michigan. Last winter was harsh and I am sure that the few feet of snow we got last week will mess things up this year Real winters are back! So much for global warming. Migration deer have been moving from the northern UP down to the southern areas. Sometimes you see a bunch and sometimes no deer at all. Same issues like weather, poor management and now wolves and cougars have been doing their number on the herd.
