- The first week of the Minnesota deer hunting opener is done. Low deer numbers and cold weather greeted us. Sara is up at the tent in this video and she sees deer. Georges hunting party has some luck. Its not all about the kill. This video will show you what deer camp is all about. Great food, good times and lack of sleep. Its not over yet.
I must say sir, you are a fantastic father...at least judging by the videos you put up. I too was raised by and am still learning from an amazing father. (I am 31 years old.) But as long as my father is around I am gonna continue to learn from him, as it seems Sara will from you sir. I am sure she enjoys the time with you as much as you do her sir. Best of luck with future endeavors and keep the vids coming. They help me retreat from my desk job while at work.
Love seeing Sara and you enjoying deer hunting season! Love the extra long vlog! Thumbs up! :-)
Joe, it’s been a few years since I watched this video and I have to say, the spirited young woman in the vid is much the same today. It’s fun to watch you with your kids, doing over them like they’re still babies. What a great dad you are. Look, today, at how the kids have all turned out. Can’t see reality through this lens, but they sure seem great to me. Mostly, I love and miss the teasing and joshing from those day. God bless you all, Joe. I have really gained much from your sharing of these deer camp vids. Thank you, Math Brown
Thank you Math. I miss those days, they are all grown up now and going in different directions. I enjoy the time I do get to spend with them.
@@JoeandZachSurvival nice thoughts, Joe. I have some myself. Thanks for sharing so much of your life. I truly admire you, the kids and your projects.
by the way, you seem like a great dad. doing all the prep. work, cooking, etc. Your daughter is lucky gal.
My favorite time of the year deer hunting yippy .Love being at the camp with my brothers enjoying the hunt.
Joe, you are wonderful. The effort you put into bringing this to us is unimaginable. You bring us all to the "Tent" so to speak and we can, for a short time, join you in a heavenly wilderness lifestyle. Thank s so much for doing these videos. Please keep them coming.
Every night before sleep i watch your video to feel it. You are doing great brother.
Just started watching the videos. Great stuff. I enjoy the preparation and how you take care of everything. Very nice!
Either Sara is a great sport or your just really brave to be filming her waking up. If I did that with my kid I had best be sleeping with one eye open after that. Always enjoy these tent videos, they are my favs.
spudrubble You have to film them AS they are figuring out that they are waking up. LOL. never once they know whats going on. Thank you. Joe
Thanks for sharing. Sad about the low numbers. Back in Wisconsin before we moved my hubby was a taxidermist plus we both hunted. We have seen over the last couple years the deer numbers go down. And luckily we moved out here to Idaho two years ago missing that long deep freeze that really affected the herds. WE are just gearing up for our rut out here. A little later then you guys back in Minnesota. Looks like you still had a nice time!!
Where in Wisconsin
I had never heard of a pork steak until I started watching your videos. You cook one on almost every tent video. Your meals look delicious.
This is July 1 2021 I don't comment hardly ever but been watching for years I went back and rewatched this I love it and all his videos they are like movies to me
Thank you for the nice comment.
Great video of good memories for you and Sara. Thanks for sharing!
Your daughter is a trooper, getting up early every morning. A lot of men would have elected to sleep in on them cold windy mornings. You must have spent a lot of quality time with her in the outdoors for her to have that kind of passion for it. Now you are reaping the rewards. Good job dad
Another great video! Always a pleasure to watch; thanks so much for sharing with us.
Love your videos! This one was particularly interesting since you and your daughter got to spend some quality time together in the beautiful outdoors. Congratulations from Newfoundland, Canada. Keep the videos coming.
Great video!! I love that you show what it's all about. I really appreciate and look forward to your channel. Thank you for posting. Keep them coming.
***** Thank you, I am heading back up in the morning and will be in my stand for the Thursday afternoon hunt.
Watching this vid made me soooo jealous!! I didn't go out this year, my buddy whom I hunt with stared a new job and couldn't make it. Just to be out there is enjoyable in of itself. You have a beautiful place.
Hi' man! You are the King! I'am Tamás from Hungary, from central Europe
You have a good daughter, that's a good testament to you teaching her the right way.
+tom noeldnerr Thanks Tom. I would have to agree with you, shes a great Daughter. Joe
Thanks for sharing the first week of deer camp with us. Michigan's firearm season started November 15 and runs through the end of the month. I have to miss all of it ths year, finally got back surgery today and am doing well and on the road to recovery.
The State DNR had two propositions on the ballot this year to legalize creating a wolf hunting season and both got shot down. Our wolf population isn't quite as large as yours, but given some time I'm sure it'll become a factor in deer populations.
Enjoy the rest of your season, looking forward to enjoying your deer camp in the next episode!
Love this video, reminds me of my hunting camp, except we don't have electricity or showers. No TV, and just aradio for listening to Badger and Packer football games in front of the fire place. And my group is 15-16 guys ages 12-80.
Made me dang hungry watching this good food.
good stuff mate, good to see Sara out hunting with you again. not sure I could handle the cold but there is nothing day break on a morning hunt. keep the faith mate and good luck next time
Really like watching your videos. Beats the drama crap they have on tv. Keep the videos coming and hopefully you will have better luck the last weekend.
thanks for sharing your adventures...they are great
I am a bird hunter, lifetime NRA, Turkey, Grouse, Partridge, Pheasant , I like the chase, a tree stand to me is not hunting, it is ambushing. Did that but targets had their own guns so it was fair. But I do love his life style,so jealous.
Bing watching all your videos trying to catchup can’t believed I missed your site! For all these years
Going back and watching your old deer season videos. Some of these I havent seen yet. Looking forward to your duck camp video this year and deer season videos. I think this past weekend was the duck hunting weekend,
That's the way some hunting trips go. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have a trip like this. The scenery is beautiful.
Charles Christenson Thank you, I have many videos where we do harvest deer etc. You have to make it real and show the unsuccessful hunts as well. They are a good time either way. Thanks again. Joe
Sara is a sweetheart! Gem of the channel!
Why is ever time I get done watching one of your video's I have to get up and get something to eat....lol

Love the videos they are very exciting and good response for deer hunting and fishing the way I like it love it too
It's snowing here right now, covering everything... with a forecast accumulation of up to 5 inches tonight and more coming tomorrow as well. I loved watchin your video... it went very well with tonight's weather... despite Missouri's deer season having ended a month ago on January 15th.
Last year I didnt even see a deer by my stand. In kansas here. I saw some deer other places just not there, It was fridged though. One day it was negative 30 with the wind chill. That grill you could fix, i've fixed alot of them. You can get replacement parts for those.
Sara...LOL! You are like me I hate getting up early! Your dad reminds me of my brother waking me up for school years ago..except he wasn't so kind.
Hi there I'm new to RUclips I really like all your videos there inspiring. I'm young and I love to all that kinda stuff like hunt, trap, fish, learn to make stuff and ice fishing. I really love the outdoors. Keep up the good videos
Owen Hall outdoor's Make sure you get out there and do it, you cant enjoy the outdoors sitting in front of a computer.
As person who lives in northern Minnesota I can relate to these videos and it gets that feeling going inside me to get out to the shack. Love the tent layout. Question what kind of camera do you use? Thanks
Will
Awesome video Joe! I didn't get a chance to shoot a deer this season Just one of those years. Thanks for sharing, and better luck this weekend!
Really liking the channel, ive kept up with your newer videos the past year.
**flame shooting out the side of the grill** "that can't be good..."
I've lived in Texas for 23 years (originally from Ontario Canada), I met 2 gentlemen from Michigan, their accent sounds exactly like yalls accent.....apparently I sound more southern than Canadian...lol (in Texas no one notices but when visiting Canada, I'm told I sound southern..just great..lol) enjoy watching your videos..I travel I-35 extensively when visiting home, Minnesota is one of my regular stops (cept in the winter..lol...state of Minnesota I find is bitterly cold)
just stumbled onto your videos. I must say I can not remember when I enjoyed a video more. Real hunting not a kill on every stand sitting. many thanks for sharing
Man, these people eat well. I'm sitting here drooling through the video. There's always good food at the tent! I LOVE TENT VIDEOS!

karenchakey Thanks Karen. Deer numbers are way low here but I will be back up there tomorrow afternoon to try again.
Love the Mustang Sara, I have a 96 GT, but have to say it is the worst vehicle in the snow.

Les From Oregon
Good stuff joe! Man i can't wait for fall! I've had enough of Summer 😩 Oh yeah, you should cook a chicken this year! 😉

Fun time. Friends and family is what's it's all about
I always enjoy the "sara its 4:15 time to get up"
at least someone had the gettin' up early down pat. I'm a 7am man myself. what time would you usually get up when your not there?
Since the 2019 video isn’t up yet I thought I would watch an old one -- I was shocked when you were washing dishes in your cast iron skillet! No soap!
I love watching your deer hunting videos to get excited for the upcoming season. Season doesn't open until Nov. 30th here in Pennsylvania. Can't wait for your 2015 video, hopefully some more action this year! Any news on the wolves this year?
I love the area your tent is at! I do fishing opener up that way. Best part of Minnesota.
Catwomanmn I just drove back up here this morning. Roads were not to bad until I headed strait north from lake superior. The roads are all snow covered and shes a bit chilly up here. I have the wood stove going as hard as I can to get it warmed up in here lol.
What was that noise ? The wolf’s May be the whole problem good luck 👍🏻 please don’t let anyone hurt your feelings you have a wonderful daughter
That had to be brutal...you are the man for staying with it. Our county did the no doe thing for a couple of years. It really helps. Best wishes.
GodsGreatOutdoors Thank you, I had a great time and am already excited for next year and hope that it helps the deer numbers like you said it did where you are. Thanks again. Joe
Another nice video. You know what they say. A bad days hunting is better than a good day at work. Thank you for sharing. Good luck on the next hunt. :o)
do ever have have a bunch of old buddys in for the hunt /??? drink beers and carry on???? that's what the camp is all about??? leave the wives at home ???? I got nothing against bringing the old ladys to the camp but deer season is the time to get away from them lol
Awesome video as always.
Those trees. Wow. I love pines.
4:30am! That is my work day wake up time. LOL Then an hour and a half commute, pull 10 hr for 5 days and WOW deer camp sure does look great. I'll split the costs if you let me just come and hang out. Loved the video. Thanks for sharing.
My friend just tuned me in to your channel. Really enjoying the videos!
Man, I need to find people to go hunting with, seems like it would be pretty enjoyable
Omg Joe so glad you have these vids up that we can go back to and watch again the good times! Year 2020 sucked... (Not your vids just the year) So bad...
The worst part of deer hunting for me is that last hour. By then I'm nearly frozen and ready to go.
Great times no deer yet but anyway you sure do eat good lol makes me hungry
Really good video Joe, thanks
Joe,didnt know Sarah was your daughter til I read comments, maybe let us know expecially New watchers,I was thinking she was your women.Great vids man.Thanks.
I really like your cabin/tent.
hiya Joe , my wife and I really enjoy watching your videos of you and your family , and we were wondering when the new vids go up by chance ?
You really are a good dad
I have to follow you now !!!! i lost you some years ago when i lost my laptop and Gmail account.. im glad i found you again
what type of generators do you use to power everything ? btw i'm hooked on your videos :)
Back when I was using a generator (which I was back when this video was posted) I used (and still have for backup) a Honda EU3000i I believe it is. They run about 2500 dollars but are super quiet and would run for 23 hours between fill ups. Thank You.
You make me so hungry when I watch your videos. lol It's about 2:30am Christmas morning 2016 and I'm about to raid the Fridge. Lol Love the videos! Do you know a guy nicknamed Minnesota Al up there?? Thought I'd ask!
this was an awesome video didnt realize you were up in mn im looking into movie to the ely area within the year! keep up the good work
Joe does anyone else ever fill the wood bin? Lol.
Fun Video Joe... did I see you using soap and water with your cast iron
Need to build yourself a sauna! Nothing better than a hot sauna, when out at camp.
Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Better luck this weekend.
I bought a .243 back in 1972 when I was living in Alaska, primarily for wolf and wolverine. I discovered that I couldn't shoot a wolf, and I couldn't find a wolverine. But I still have the .243, and it's my favorite rifle.
Unlimited does here. Season starts September 1 and goes thru April 30. Antlerless for Sept. and also Jan. 5 thru April 30. I'd send you a few if I could. Thanks for sharing your video.
wow ....I watched this entire video...and you didn't kill a dang deer...
When I saw this was an hour long I said oh god. But it was a great entertaining video. Great camera work bud!
NoOneImportant556 Thank you, next time make some popcorn. LOL. Great comment. Thanks again. Joe
Beautiful video. I was cracking up with, "Sarah, its 4:30. Time to wake up". The again, and again, morning after morning LOL
She is not a morning person lol
you are living the life sir....... great vid!
Finally the reality of deer hunting, some think every time you go out you shoot a deer, however that is hardly ever the case maybe this will help people realize, plus great video those meals were making me hungry!
Great little videos...but bless your hearts you have to be the loudest hunters I've ever met. Yankees are don't have a quiet voice.
I disagree, My girlfriend who I have been with for 7 years just moved up here this year. She was born and raised and lived in Louisiana her whole life. I am much quieter than her. haha.
@@JoeandZachSurvival lol
Hey I love Ur ice fishing videos and can't wait for the 2015 season! Best of luck to u and Ur family
Joe my friend when he went hunting on the first day he twelve doe and one buck and filled his tags within ten minutes
Great Video. Bad luck with the deer i think those wolves had a major part to play in that.Looks like you had a great time regardless.
Beerpig Thank you. I am heading back up early tomorrow morning.
Great video! Love your channel! It seems like you eat a lot of pork steaks ;) I've never had one but they look dang good
Kato Khaelan They are delicious. Thank you. Joe
what a great channel u have thanks
Hey, just wanted to say I really enjoy the videos. You have some strong will power to do all that work, and try to capture it all on film and not skip a morning or evening session. You should come down to South Arkansas and I'll take ya deer fishing. A nice relaxing reward
I've seen in a lot of your hunting videos that you make Jambalaya. Do you have the recipe you use to make it in any of your videos? I'd love to try and make it some day!
Melissa has true Jambalaya homemade on her channel As The Rooster Crows. The stuff we make at Deer Camp is just Zatarains which you can buy at walmart or most stores. Jambalaya out of a box. Just add sausage or shrimp or whatever.
Joe had an Escanaba In Da Moonlight hunt.
Do you ever use anyone to walk through the woods after the others get set in their stands. It keeps the deer moving. We have had good luck doing it that way..
