As is tradition I prepare for the MN deer opener by watching your video(s) and the ones sintax77 and his old man put up out in PA! Thanks for doing this again!
Ole Whiterook 85 yeah I feel the same I also watch camp benny in up Michigan I miss hunting up north I grew up in western ny and now I live on the coast of nc where so many people dog hunt for deer and bear
Awesome.. What a ride it's been for you and yours..... I think it gives us all some peace knowing this kind of life still exists, even if it's part time. Thanks for taking the time and effort to put it on for us. Working in media, I know it is a lot of work!
I've already seen the same comments, but I've been checking every day for this update as well! Don't have time to watch tonight, but will watch tomorrow night after my hunting party goes home!!! Can't wait!!!
That was a great video, I felt bad for Sarah having to get up early but she is a trooper. I have two daughters but they are grown and gone. This reminds me of the good old days I had with them. Thank you for making videos..
Hi Ed. Stumbled across your comment and glad to see you like this channel as much as I like yours. Actually just watched your spring beaver trapping video about an hour ago. And I also think it's cool when a daughter likes deer camp as well. ATB Mike
I just love Sarah's reaction to the time to get up (LOL) . Your videos are so entertaining that it isn't necessary to get a deer. She makes for a good hunting buddy. Your meals are to die for also. The days at camp bring back memories to an old hunter who now lives through the eyes of younger folks. God bless you.
love all your videos and the adventures that you and your family share with us! It's kinda sad to see the end when you clean up your cabin as you head home. Thanks for sharing all that you do!
I mean to say that ive just started to watch ur show for the past 1 month n ive watched most of it n im fascinated of the series hope to c u when i come to America
Hi Joe, I just found your channel a couple of hours ago and was watching the Backwoods Cabin videos and then a couple of others. This one so far is my favorite :) I gotta say you're an awesome dad to take your kids out and teach them like you do. They're so lucky to have you for a father.
Living the life I'm dreaming about and can't wait to go back to. Although, not a huge fan of hunting (I find it incredibly boring). I just love hiking, observing, exploring nature and the back country.
Hey y'all just finished watching the 2006 opening. Wanted to say I love your videos it makes me feel like I did when I was younger and was able to hunt with my dad every weekend in Georgia. Keep posting and happy holidays from Texas..
Another wonderful video, that French toast at the beginning of the video made me crave french toast, Half a loaf in each slice, nice... To bad about Sarah's deer but you are right, it happens. It's not what a hunter strives for, but an unseen limb could cause a deflection. When that happens you have to do your best to recover the deer and it sounds like you guys did just that. Have you ever tried a quitter approach to your stands like peddle bikes. I've use them from time to time with great success. Beats walking and you can cover a lot of ground ever quietly. Thanks for taking us along on another great adventure. I love how you converted your tent into a beautiful cabin. Looking forward to seeing your return in another 8 days. Best of luck...
Great video Joe, I look forward to these every year, now if a darn dear would just walk in front of you this year, it would be perfect! Good luck on your next time out bud, and thanks for another great movie :)
Can Sarah come hunt with me please? She's the star of your videos you know. She seems like such a pleasure to have in camp and in the woods with you. I enjoy your videos. There's a homespun quality about them that makes them very appealing. Much more technologically complex than I realize I suppose. But they come across as being being uncomplicated - just a story about a couple of people in camp and in the woods. Very nice.
Sorry i dont no if u will read this ive been watching ur shows all of it the tent the house the farm everything u done over the past 10 year or so n i really respect that im from London England as u no city isnt same as the way u live i wish some day i come to America to experience what u doing anyway if ever i come would u except me to ur place in the tent so i could no the of the experience
You have about as much luck deer hunting as I do muskie fishing. Hopefully that will change for you on your next trip. I guess that's the difference between you and I, you're a hunter and I like to fish. I look at your pretty lake and want to be in a boat and not on a stand. But to each their own. I also love the duality of your tent, the old fashioned things like the outhouse, cast iron pans, heating water on the woodstove, campfire cooking, and so on, versus the microwave oven, flat screen TV, internet, laptops, NOAA weather radio. Makes for an interesting combination. lol lol
There is another little diner in that town that is really good if your interested in trying something new. Its past the one you stop at, you go down the big hill to the stop sign and take a right. It is on your left then, Rustic Diner. Good luck when you go back up!
Dang, I envy you so much, but not in MN. I like the weather here in Louisiana much better. But I love your camp setup and the view you have, it is incredible. I for sure don't envy your 1400 mile trip coming this way, especially pulling that big 5th wheel. Will keep you in my prayers for that long journey. Bob
when staring to using lighter fluid, you can drop some on the floor it could start a firer ...you could put the wood in a buck out side then use the lighter fluid out side then bring the buck inside an put the wood it in the stove. a lot safer that way. love Your videos
You know Joe five minutes after you left the stand the biggest buck in history a sixteen pointer weighing in at two hundred pounds walked right up to it and rubbed his horns on the ladder! Then walked off and yawned and curled up and lay sleeping there to morning!
Hi Mr Joe that was a nice video. I would love to hunt with you and sarah. Me you had some good tempture to hunt. I do not like to hunt in 40s weather. I like mid 60s and mid 40s. Iam like you joe that i have not kill a buck in 4 years. All my time, i take care of my mom of 80 years old and my nephew of 35 that can not see to drive. I try to fish and hunt on the weekend but no luck with deer hunting and with no place to hunt too.It been very dry here in Louisiana. A burn band for the whole state. I may bet to good hunting later. God Bless you and your Family. Take Care and stay safe. You have all true video of how hunting goes. Good Luck on your next Hunt.
Enjoyed your video. I had the same luck hunting Paul Bunyan State Forest. Skunked, didn't see any. The guys around me did some shooting but no deer. Must be missing a lot. There was quite a bit of sign and the wolves were howling. It was fun hunting though. Good luck next week.
Deer camo memores. love the videos. More dads need to take their daughters.Deer camp recipes LOL, never know what concoctions people come up with. Opening day here today Too warm n breezy.
With 2 of us up there I go through 5 gallons a day with the showers. a few water bottles for drinking. I do have a hand pump water well but when I can I haul the water in because the water there has quite a lot of iron in it. I use the water well when I am there for an extended period of time. Thank you. Joe
Thanks, Joe for creating another entertaining video. No offense, but I don't completely understand why your hunting videos are so relaxing and entertaining. I just know they are! You must put a ton of effort into recording, editing, and posting them. But, what a great way to document and capture your experiences. I'm happy to hitch a ride and live vicariously for a little while. Thanks again and I wish you well!
i like all your videos just wondering how do u keep everything going it looks like your a busy guy im from pa. an id like to own land an stuff but cant afford to but i get lots of great ideas from u
I am for sure a busy person, I am not very good though at sitting and doing nothing, it causes anxiety for me. I do not own any type of gaming counsel nor do I play any games on my phone or computer so I guess I just use my time differently maybe than a lot of people do.
Wasn't it a beautiful weekend up there! I was at Highland for the weekend, we had a good time, caught a few fish, drank a bunch of beer. The hunting guys all shot their deer before they came up Sat morning, so we didn't have to worry about all this hunting stuff.
I had a GoPro Melissa bought me on my head for most of the first 4 days. Just didnt have a deer kill to use it., It will be back on my head in a few days when I am back in the stand.
im speaking only for me of course ... as much as p apreciat hunting i dont want to see the kill ... i have taken my share of deer over many years and have never taken a picture of any of them and never will ! to me there is no lory in the kill only in providing food foe me and my family .... i judge no one in what they do ... just putting my views out there ... ps love your channel
Good to see you did another video. How about letting sara take camera up to her stand and narrate a little video just to change things up. It would be interesting to get more of her perspective. Good job as always.
Ever thought about one of them cheap Harbor Freight solar kits, they have everything and is like $130-$160 depending on the sale at the time? Might be perfect to use for that battery setup.
@@JoeandZachSurvival So, you bring both with you to the Deer stand? I use to use a double and put a slug in one barrel and a bird shot in the other side.
I edit the videos and then I watch them and then I render them in my first editing program and then I load it into Movie Maker and let it take the movie and render it again. It drops the file size quite a bit. I normally never really watch the videos again once they are uploaded, ......no need, I have already watched..... Someone complained about there being so much glare. My camera is about 3 years old now and I usually get about 3 years out of them so last night I watched the whole video start to finish off the youtube channel. What happened was just recently instead of clicking "save movie.... for playback on your computer" I have started clicking "save movie...for playback on youtube". I agree, its horribly grainy. Its taking to much of it away during that process. When I go up this weekend and do the follow up video I will go back to clicking "save movie..... for playback on your computer" it adds almost 3 hours onto the upload time with a movie as big as this last one but the quality will be much better. I apologize for how pixeled out this video is in places. Stay tuned for the next one. Thanks Kato. Joe
Hey Joe great video! Quick question, do you own the land that you hunt on? I am wondering because if you do you should try to make a food plot in that field by your clearing stand this next spring.
FYI, anyone interested in the Camp Chef camp oven that Joe uses at "The Tent" it's on clearance in the Midwest at Mills Fleet Farm for $169.00 which is an awesome price compared to the regular $219.00. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. There is just something very comforting and satisfying about your style of filming.
You are correct
Its so relaxing ! The way Joe talks to the camara is like he is speaking to you and makes you feel a little less lonely. Love all of his work 👍👍

Even though you guys did not see much i bet it was a lot more comfortable sitting in the stands with the warmer weather.
seems like the deer have you guys patterned.....videos are great!!
Joe, Real cool video man. The food is top notch. That place is organized. What you using to pop them Grouse? I keep missing them every year. Lol

Joe ? What do you thank . Which would you buy if you could only buy one . The 308 or the 30-06. for deer or bear hunting . Thanks

Do you guys have two-way radios to keep in touch while out?
Thanks for sharing!! Where exactly is your tent? That is beautiful!
The tent is in NE Minnesota. Thank you. Joe
been waiting for this thanks! can u try a gopro kill so we can see you harvest a deer?

What kind of seasoning do you put on all of your meat and vegetables?
I use this when I go to the tent. www.amazon.com/dp/B00B03VEXS?psc=1&smid=ADN8AR50GV5WO
JoeandZachSurvival thanks for getting back to me I've been looking for a multi use seasoning.
They have a "seasoning salt" with no MSG also. I have that up there as well but the hunters one is awesome. Thank you.
Wish I was there! Very nice!
