I remember visiting the city with my parents when I was a young teenager. Then after university I moved to San Francisco in October of 1974 and I'm still here and will be for the rest of my life.
Stayed here for 2 weeks in the late 90's and never left the city once! We stayed in Chinatown and discovered the city by foot and also the wonderful bus service. In the evenings we went to the bars and were like locals by the time we left!
San Francisco is one of the best cities to visit on the west coast. Absolutely love the weather. It’s also really amazing to witness Karl the Fog rolling in over the city.
Great video but the most interesting aspect of SF is its variety of neighborhoods (in addition to Chinatown) such as North Beach, Japantown, The Castro, Haight Ashbury,(hippies/summer of love), The Mission, Hayes Valley, Cow Hollow and The Marina. Also, Dolores Park, Baker Beach (birthplace of Burning Man) and Lands End.
A really interesting video about one of the best towns in the world! When we were there 2018 we liked the Twin Peaks Vista Point very much. There you have a stunning view of the city - when it's not foggy. Another great experience was the view of the Golden Gate bridge while passing by our cruise ship. Greatings from Germany, Reinhold
SUTRO BATHS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I go there all the time and he didn’t mention the 3 mile long hiking trail that has amazing views and leads to amazing other beaches
In schools around san francisco theres the gold rush lesson... then you get out of school and read about gold/silver rushes in places like alaska, new zealand, colorado, nevada. Same for technology.
I moved to San Francisco for 3 years after my parents divorce and we stayed nearby Fisherman's Wharf because my dad worked as fishermen... our step-mom, before she was diagnose with cancer, would take us to the aquarium or the docks to look at the boats...
Great vid! I visit once a year. Along with the famous places, you also named a few lesser known or specific things to check out. I've learned about some new destinations!
Thanks 😊 Exactly, many times hidden gems are just as impressive as the famous attractions. There are many places like that in San Francisco 😀 enjoy when you visit again 😀
The Palace of Fine Arts is not the same one that was there in 1915. The decorative structures are a reproduction that was built decades later. Most of the original statues were lost to time.
#1 Burrito in the world at El Farolito 2779 Mission Street. Ask for Super Burrito with Your choice of meat. Cash Only and about 40 feet away from the escalator to 24th Street BART (subway) station. Hours vary but on fri and sat open until 230am. Read the Yelp reviews.
Hey Curry, I think it is generally OK to drive to all the attractions. The traffic around the Financial district is a bit hectic and not exactly tourist-friendly so maybe it’ worth parking your car somewhere in that area and explore on foot, at least in our experience. Other than that we were able to find parking spots near all the attractions with a little patience. Hope it helps & enjoy SF 😉
Parking in the city can be quite expensive, and there are a number of steep one way streets. You need to pay attention to the flow of traffic. We did some exploring by cable car between Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and Chinatown, as well as on foot to other attractions in nearby neighborhoods like North Beach (Little Italy). You would need a map to figure out what's near the stops.
Hey there, thanks for your comment, however, we were talking specifically about the Financial District, which is a relatively small area. Some of the big tech companies you mention do have HQs in SF but are located outside Financial District. Others, like Google are located in Silicon Valley, Mountain View in case of Google. Anyway, San Francisco and the Bay Area is certainly where you’ll find some of the world’s biggest companies 😀
