Thanks Budd for the 1st running video. RGT are coming along nicely with their crawlers and with few upgrades this stock crawler will perform even better👌🏽😎👊🏽
I remember you said tires are same as rescuer, so you know they're poor, but on a first drive, I guess we should still give them some slack for being brand new. Still props for having a real plan to actually using them instead chucking in the drawer like so many people.
I think you've got to give the stock tyres a chance just like you have to give stock everything a chance. I'll keep testing it with those tyres as well as others and just see how it really stacks up. I don't really understand people that buy a car and then change loads of parts before even running it. It seems a shame, like buying a meal and just covering it in ketchup before tasting anything.
@@rcpie got to admit I have to take the blame for modding my 3rd or 4th RC car like that and I never even used it much after that. I know it can be part of the hobby to but its so wasteful and I wouldn't do it again
Yup, get some tires for her and bring her back to this same space. Not sure if I would recommend buying a set of Hyrax, that would be the same price as the truck but if you have a set layin around,. . .
Nice look a like comp Truck, way to top heay even with the big gearbox. I build a Samurai on my RGT Bowler chassis ,pretty good crawler near comp level.
I watched the unboxing vid, now the running vid. It's a cool looking rig. I'm not much of a crawler, more like the Ryft or my Daughter's Wendigo (Rock Bouncer). The Body is sweet with that Blower and 4w steer. You haven't mentioned a price, still a Cool review. Stay safe and bash on from Colorado!!!
The price seems very unsettled at the moment, so I didn't want to focus on it until we know what it's going to remain at. I paid about £330. Check the links to see what it's sitting at right now. You should try crawling.. It's great fun and very relaxing. Thanks for watching.
Is the rear steer only on a mix, or can you steer the rear independent of the front? Just curious, i use a futaba 6 channel on my class 3 (and all my other serious comp and race cars) and I have 3 different programs that i can choose from depending on how I want my truck react. I usually keep it on a 4 wheel steer with a momentary off button that allows the rear to not steer. Then I have a program that puts rear control on a knob on the side of the radio, and it steers linear on both ends independently. And the 3rd program has a toggle mode that switches between the three common mixes. Straight, crab, or 4 wheel. The first one is my newest mix, and I'm really digging it. Super tight steering makes gate set up real easy once you get the hang of your ass end moving around you. Looks like this truck could be messed with enough to make it a bit more capable, like you said, springs, lower the weight a bit, get her some tires. Hope you and yours are warm and happy, be well and have fun.
On that stock radio setup you can only cycle between those four steering settings. Front/crab/4WS/rear. As I said, I've never had a 4WS car before, so I'm not used to the options but I'll be interested to see what I can do with my FlySky GT5 as that's 6 channel and has dedicated crawler modes which I believe are also ready for 4WS setups. It seems I have some learning ahead.. but that's always good and I might be able to pass on what I figure out to others. Your setup sound interesting.. what truck(s) have you got that on? I'd ordered a batch of generic springs to use on a couple of cars but they all got cancelled. Shame as they were really cheap from a generic spring manufacturer, not RC specific. I'll have to source some more, especially for this. Stay safe, Brian.
@@mattiasrc I'll try another tweak in the next few days and see how it works. Lowering it has been suggested but it seems a shame to lose the clearance.
Yes, it's waterproof (with the usual need to protect the receiver). I've already shot some wet footage. The edited video will be out in a week or so. (Don't forget to subscribe!)
I reckon they'd probably do fairly well there. I'll probably just save them for wet adventures with different trucks. I don't think this will be for that sort of trailing, it's a bit too slow and unless I changed the body for something more scale, it just wouldn't look the part.
16:11 rgt forgot to mention in the brochure, that:"THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN EQUIPPED WITH STEALTH TECHNOLOGY" 😅 The same, that F35 jet fighters come equipped with. 🤣
Nice one mate, thanks for doing this. It looked really good out there, a set of decent tyres, some better springs & I reckon it'll improve it no end.! I never buy a new RC without watching/reading everything I can about it, unfortunately info for this is a bit sparse.! It is a very appealing rig... Another thing that's hugely important to me is long term reviews but hardly anybody does them. The majority of channels do an unboxing, a run & perhaps a mods video & then they move straight on to the next RC. Diffs & running gear are my biggest concern tbh & a couple of running videos aren't going to tell me anything.! Sorry for the rant... Thanks again, liked & best wishes from the Scottish Highlands. 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️.!
Great post, Alan. I completely agree about long-term tests. They're on my list but I've not been going long enough to have done any yet. My first one will be on the Rescuer. I reckon it's had enough of a kicking/soaking/crashing/falling to qualify by now. As far as this is concerned, it's looking much better already and I'm looking into trying a more significant setup change very soon.
@@rcpie I only just noticed your video about changing its tyres & suspension, I'm looking forward to watching it when I get in the house. The Rescuer is extremely intriguing to me, I've got a couple of standard crawlers (Hobao DC1, FTX Fury & a Gmade Komodo) & I enjoy them very much, but ever since I got the Absima Sherpa it's opened my eyes to trail/scale trucks & I'm still impressed with what it can do after a year of owning it. (it's in the boot of my car right now).! All my crawlers now have to have mirrors/handles/wipers/snorkels/accessories etc, etc or I'm not satisfied. LOL.! I'll pass, as I'm on a cake-free diet! But seriously, it wouldn't be able to do them without putting a silly motor in it. It's so low-geared that it's not got enough wheel speed.
Drive shafts are quite easy to replace. You don't need to buy the same brand. You can just buy the right length from a third party manufacturer like Injora. All you need to know is the length.
@@blackwoei7486 Sorry, I misread your question. Not sure about the portals. I've not really compared them to anything else. I wonder if they are the same as in the EX86190 Rescuer / FTX Outback Tracker.
Thanks for the running video. Needs a full droop setup for sure and at least softer foam. Great high clearance body, and outfitted nicely.
Thanks, James. Interesting idea with the softer foams but I think the tyre compound is just not right for rock.

I've not had any issues with any RGT/FTX stuff and I crawl pretty hard.
