I think I've watched just about every video/test you've done on your crawler course, and that thing laughed at it like it was a joke. I'm sold. RedcatRacing is killin it!
RedCat has been stealing my heart and now they’re gonna get my money too! Uhhh Boy! 😝💯 Wow man , this thing just ate your course! 🥴😂Superbly done Troy!😄
@RoadsideRC absolutely brother!! Did you see any pics from our 2024 Night Crawl. Something like 250+ trucks running Elphant Rocks State Park at night..whole park lit by our tiny trucks...
Great video brother!, looks pretty darn good otb, I'd put some metal wheels with hyrax or landmines on them and call it a day! It would be pretty near perfect for me! Redcat knocked it out of the park again with this one! 💯🤜🤛
That awkward moment when you realize the upgrade you need now is to your course, not the truck lol. Maybe you can add an active water feature with a hose or something? This is going to be a good year for Redcat. I like the direction they're going, with more effort being put into initial design, durability and future upgradeability.
@RoadsideRC yeah that thing is impressive.. I should have one on the way very soon.. my plan is to just leave it alone and just drive it box stock.. lol.. take care man.
Redcat has stepped there game up forsure! Never bothered looking at Redcats until the Ascents. Ended up buying 3 of the 1/18th scales and the very next day the Fusion Ascent.
I agree 100%! I have swapped over to some Treal beadlocks already. I do like the stock tires, but of course folks need to use what works on their local terrain.
“Usually this is the point were I’m finding the issues and I’m planning like what I’m going to to the truck next and uh it probably needs this upgrade and I should probably move this weight here and I should probably…………hmmph…. I, I think you just buy the truck.” Pure gold.
Another awesome video thanks for the review. Looks like there is going to be another redcat in my collection. Was going to upgrade my ascent but I think I will at this one as well, the only thing I could say about it is metal gears maybe didn't see anything on that
That is two very different vehicles. This Ascent Fusion is performance oriented while the FMS is scale-looks oriented. I personally would rather have good performance vs looks.
This things eats EVERYTHING alive. Redcat has created the Best, value for dollar, RTR on the market. I wonder what FMS does to compete. I don't see Axial or Traxxas even trying. The ONLY thing it needs are some brass beadlocks and it's done.
Yes - they did a GREAT job on this truck. That is for sure. I am thinking about picking up the Vanquish Stance. That and the Ecto are both great crawlers as well.
All those people that bought the first release 5 or 6 months ago and spent on upgrades are probably feeling great about this. Maybe Redcat will give those buyers a break on all these parts 😂. It looks like the shocks are still mounted to the top of the axle and the front upper link is mounted on the wrong side for correct geometry with the panhard. Why are the shock towers bolted on instead of just being a single piece with the chassis?
That is all part of the RC game. There is always a new truck right around the corner... The suspension is all stock geometry on purpose - just like the bolted-on shock towers. The Redcat engineer said that was on purpose so other aftermarket parts would still work on this truck.
@@RoadsideRC yeah backward compatibility makes sense. I'm sure I'm just salty about some of their design decisions. I won't be buying their crawlers anytime soon. The RDS has a couple fans at my local track though
I'm so pissed off. Had I known 10 days ago . I bought the red 10 days ago. A fusion sc brass front portals brass wheel hex.. I'm well over 399 .. I'm pissed
what have you heard about this fusion? is it really their 1800kv SE or is it different? i.e. a 'lite' version kinda like what some software is; though it has same name, it just doesn't have same options or manufacturing quality because i'm weary of what compromises were done to get this seemingly low price (to which I have a whole other theory on based on info spoken and omitted from redcat). i haven't seen anything yet that doesn't have a con so i'm wondering on what did the shoe fall on.
So far, the performance is great. I have not seen any difference in performance vs the Fusion SE. What I was told, is that some of the tuning features were removed - example: it only is at 7.4V BEC. I need to plug my Hobbywing programmer into it and see what it let's me do.
@@RoadsideRC ya. It's interesting to hear of either it is a new version of this motor or it's their motor but cheaper because they didn't add programming to it. Sorta like the 'lite' you get with phone apps
@@AnySumptionBanter This is a new version of the motor made for OEMs who want to offer a Fusion style motor and it is not something that Hobbywing offers to general consumers, which is called the Fusion RTR. The only differences with the Fusion RTR vs. the Fusion SE is that you can't change the BEC voltage output. On the SE you can switch between 6V and 7.4V, but the Ascent Fusion's Fusion RTR is set to a permanent 7.4V. All of the other programming is available on the Fusion RTR if you get the Hobbywing brushless tuner separately, although the settings out of the box are well-tuned for the vehicle so it will be unnecessary for most users.
@@ShaneMikulagreat piece of info. why? because what if you want to add more powerful servo, some lights, rear steer? you'll need that info. Any idea if you can add an external bec and disable the esc one in this case? But you're also correct in that many RTR buyers won't be fiddling with things like that, especially if they are novice. Thanks for the engagement
can do even better. plenty of carbon chassis for below 100$, plus a cheaper fusion, cheap straight links, soa, decent shocks, just put your own rig together.. its going to come out either cheaper or at same price with better geometry. vrd has some really good engineering behind it and you pay for that plus all its flexibility with diff mounting options with very little compromised compared to any rtr
I think I've watched just about every video/test you've done on your crawler course, and that thing laughed at it like it was a joke. I'm sold. RedcatRacing is killin it!

Redcat is going crazy right now!
They're proving a point, loud and clear.
And I’m here for it! I love the Ascent18 and this one is in the mail!
Blown away, has got to be a top contender in the crawling industry soon as possible there will be one on order
Yes! The best just got better!

Agree 100%!
For me, the stock tires are surprisingly good in my area, so metal wheels alone works for me.
@@RoadsideRC I've seen that most people say the new compound is even better than the standard Ascent, much stickier! 😊

Ha! Yes! I need some new obstacles....off to the garage!
😂😂😂 Troy.. hilarious at 6:59 .. just standing there puzzled.. lol.. was just a comical moment.. great video man!

@basherz_den I'm excited about trying it at some local events. Stock truck, $399 - vs other folks $2000 trucks...
That ate the wall. Impressive! Great video sir.
Thanks Senor RichD.
Redcat going crazy. I'm getting one for sure. Glad I waited. Thanks Troy for the awesome video 👍
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the truck!
Best rtr crawler ever, period. This thing is dope. Great video as always. Can't wait to see what ya do besides real beadlocks.
Yep! 100%!!!
Definitely ordering next month I will use you link, the Glade you did the review on it heck ya.

Wheel, tires, and a radio. Which the radio isn’t necessary but I like using my own. You have a beast of a machine

redcat was sitting in the board room with an og plan, thinking 3 moves ahead of everyone else.love my ascent!!!

The only plastic gears in the whole system are the transmission gears - but I have not heard of anyone stripping them. They are pretty beefy.
@@RoadsideRC I haven't stripped mine yet but it might be a nice upgrade something that redcat could possibly do later in time
Great video! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🔥
This is awsome! But I kinda like the red body. Will it fit this?
Yes! It will mount right up! They include all of the standard body mounts in the box.

Can the HobbyWing 1800kv Fusion Brushless FOC System run a nimh battery?

60-40

Hehe 😂nice Redcat😋🤙
This new offering from Redcat is the closest thing to out-of-the-box RTC (Ready-To-Comp) that I've ever seen.
