Sculpey Original is a polymer clay. Sculpey actually does a range of different firmness clays, Original is the softest which is great for someone who maybe has mobility issues such as arthritis) but it doesn't hold fine details as well as firmer clay. Their medium clay is a bit firmer but still fairly soft and then they have their firm version which is great for super fine details but needs a little more conditioning before use (which you can do with either your hands or a pasta roller - just not the same one you use for pasta 😂)
Instead of rubbing alcohol you can use clay softener to remove fingerprints, dust and hair - it works better than rubbing alcohol. Sanding is a good way to get a smooth surface though which not only removes those but also gives a better base for paints, glazes or additions.
Personally I use matte acrylic paints on my clay pieces as it is more opaque than acrylic gouache so saves the need for any primers or gesso.
Tip for removing the stickiness from the UV resin is to pour some of the stuff they use to remove the sticky layer from gel nail polish onto a lint free cloth and wipe over the surface of the resin. It gets rid of the stickiness and any fingerprints or smudges in the resin that you may have gotten on the sticky residue.
I love polymer clay, it is so rewarding, especially once you get used to it. Check out Ace of Clay on RUclips - he is a sculpter and does tutorial videos - I have learned a HUGE amount from him since I subscribed to his channel!
Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas and New Year. Here's to a better, safer, healthier and happier 2021! 🎉🥂🍾🍻

If you want to rollan even thickness with out a pasta machine stack popsicle sticks to the thickness you want and roll the clay between them .

There are rolling pins with different size discs on both sides. They vary in size, so you can get different thicknesses, do recommend it a lot!

You're right - Sculpey is a polymer clay. The Americans can buy it from almost any hobby/art store. The more expensive Super Sculpey is less likely to break in the oven and it's not as soft. (For some people that's a bad thing, others like the ultra soft.) Mineral oil or softner can also be used to get rid of finger prints. Some artists prefer rubbing alcohol, some like the softner better - it's all up to you. :) I've used acetone to get rid of them after baking. I'm not sure how readily available that is where you're at. It's like really really strong fingernail polish remover and used as a paint stripper. These came out so well! The fox is my favorite! I found you through NerdECrafter's 2020 rewind. I'm so excited to be here and a new artist to follow!

I love it when you try something new and you end up really having a good time doing it. The pins all came out great and I can't decide on which is my favorite but since I love cats, I'd have to say that the cat with the scarf is the one that I like the most. In fact, this gives me an idea on what to make....

As a dedicated grain, I waited for the rubbing alcohol to make its appearance and wasn't disappointed :D.
Seriously though, they turned out beautiful, can't decide on a favourite.
    P. S. We have those magnets at work, they are stupidly strong, even if they are small. We actually had problems getting them off our magnetic board again...

these are all so cute and the medium suits your style really well! i used to make mini drawings on polymer clay for necklaces/jewelry (used a lot of micron pens, and sponge gradients for cool backgrounds!) and a lot of little sculptures; i've used different nail polishes quite a lot too, especially holographic/iridescent/duochrome ones for really fun and smooth finishes. i definitely recommend xacto/craft knives with thinner/pointy blades for cutting things out. they look incredible with the resin!! i can't wait to see what else you do with polymer clay!!

Can't we just all curl up next to Sally til this whole messy year finishes...? 🐱 If this resin is anything like the gels and gel polishes nail artists use, you could try alcohol or acetone to take off the sticky layer. Also, you can mix all sorts of things into the resin like glitter, shimmer powders etc 😊 it makes it more versatile and fun!

I absolutely love how each piece turned out, they are very cute...
I have a couple of packs of clay but haven't got round to using them yet but you've inspired me to go and dig them out from the back of my craft cupboard...
I have a tip if your thinking of making more of them,
*cut some acetate into 1inch strips and crease them (they crease well especially if you bone fold the creases to get a perfect edge) to match the outline of your drawing and just tape the ends together and then you have the perfect cookie cutter to cut the clay as many times as you want, I hope this is helpful to you...
Happy Holidays to you, your family & your furbabies of course 🐾...
Take care & stay safe my lovely...
