Let me try to interpret what he is saying. The people are not buying into our propaganda. We are failing and government officials need to step up the propaganda so we can continue feeding the military industrial complex instead of utilizing our resources to help the citizenry.

@@vedmakism It didn't surprise me, at all, so I must've read it and it's logical as E. Ukraine is the heart of manufacturing and an outlet to the sea would make import/export easy. A big seaport would allow Russian ships easy access to Europe and the US.

I'm not voying Trump, nor am I voting Biden. Looks as if I am writing in my choice.
I have two criteria: Be pro 2nd and reduce spending. Both Trump and Biden fail at each of these.
Former Secretary Gates has so much wisdom and experience, too bad he is not still serving in government.
The main problem in the U.S. right now is that we give legitimacy to the inexperienced and unqualified. People in leadership positions need to have a proven track record.
Biden had fifty years of experience in WA....and he has historically low approval ratings.
Trump has a proven track record as a strong and effective leader.

Mr Gates hits the nail on the head by advising the slick, opportunistic J.D. Vance that: “some additional information, briefings, and information may be required“.🎯

Secretary Gates' long service is remarkable for his non-partisan craftsmanship. His pragmatic and practical approach to problem-solving can only be attributed to patriotism.
Recalling Secretary Gates' capacity to get 'down-in-the-weeds' to pinpoint contemporary transformational capabilities, I would appreciate hearing his assessment of Directed-Energy weapons.
Representatives dont bring things to their people. For example Ted Cruz does 3 Podcasts a week, and played basketball all afternoon last Friday saying he had nothing to do.

Mr. Gates has served his country well BUT, though he is clearly not supportive of Donald Trump, he cannot bring himself to suggest directly not to vote for him. It would be a service to their country if he and other credible Republicans would reveal their concerns regarding another Trump presidency. Choosing loyalty to a flawed person over the best interests of the country is a betrayal of their oaths to support the country.

Are you going to ask Gates about the transfer of technologies to China during times he served in government. Things like technologies that enabled China to develop ballistic missles that carry nuclear warheads? Ask him about information transfered to Russia?

No it’s not. Firstly, there’s not anyone watching this video who is unaware of what happened on January 6th. At this point it’s already baked into people’s opinions and we don’t need to hear yet another interview where the focus is on January 6th.
Secondly, she gave him an opportunity to speak freely about his support, or lack thereof, of Donald Trump and he politely declined to go there. As the interviewer, not the interviewee, nobody cares what she thinks, and her job is not to become the focus of the interview. I applaud her for not engaging in activist journalism. If everyone engaged in these types of neutral interviews maybe the public would still trust the media.

Bob Gates is absolutely right. Western governments and especially ours talk too much. What happened to the elements of surprise in a war? I was taken aback last year when western governments and Ukraine themselves continually talked about their offensive and were naïvely dismissive of the Russian’s preparations. I’m not sure why anyone thought that Putin would have folded like aluminum wrap and allowed Ukraine a walk in the park.

Yes, those threats seemingly disappear--for awhile. For example, check out Germany in the 1920s-mid 1930s.
We seem to think that if we stay out of the way, the threats to our country will magically disappear. We have tried isolating ourselves from the rest of the world, but tragedy struck our country anyway.
I was glad when Bush brought Gates in to manage the debacle in Iraq. I was glad when Obama kept Gates in his administration. I’m glad now to hear Gates using his voice to share this wisdom in our current foreign affairs crises. I hope Biden and Trump listen to him, and the base of both parties cool their heads with each other so we can get through this in one piece.

Pres. Biden has united NATO, raised the alarm about the authoritarian threat to us and our allies, and is showing strong support for Ukraine.
