An appreciative audience! Not the "experienced" symphony attendees since they didn't realize that you don't applaud between movements... not until the ensemble rises. But this shows the honest appreciation of those who attended. I've heard some groups address the audience and after a brief explanation of the music, will request that they hold their applause until after all of the movements are completed since this would otherwise break the mood of the piece. The audience understands. At one special performance the soloist even asked for no applause until the entire evening was over, since the music was very sensitive and a mood was being created. This guidance seems to be very helpful to the audience.
One of the best works of Brahms with my favourite clarinetist,Olivier Patey
