Great video - and should work well. I'll probably put my pot in a more accessible place. QUESTION: do you have a solution for adding a headphone jack that will switch off the speakers? THANKS
You used the wrong lugs on the volume switch. When you rotate the switch clockwise, it should get louder, not lower. When rotating it CCW it should get lower and not louder. Otherwise, good video.
becuase its made to turn down the extremely loud volume so that you can use the factory A1U adjustment. On some games even low is extremely loud. With this you can set it where you are happy with the range you get threw the A1U volume control. Not everyone wants extra buttons or dials on there cabinets. You can mount it to the front panel by all means if you want too :)
Its not a standard potentiometer. The ones you will get off of amazon will have no adjustment but will lower the volume. Ours will adjust the entire turn.
Absolutely! this just lets you fine tune the volume control. The top side one is still 100% functional. IE you can adjust it down then use the top ones to go high or low. Just on some machines the low setting is even too high, this allows for total adjustment
I have switched out the inbuild board and replaced it with a raspberry Pi. The speaker connects to an amp. You think this method would still work for my set up?
its not thread for a knob, it has a center slit for a flat screw driver if you need it, its not hard to turn my hands were a bit sweaty. Its a special made pot, not a off the shelf unit. You should only have to adjust this once and not touch it beyond that.
Would be a better product if you could use a switch that could replace the existing volume switch from the cab ( perhaps a slider with the shape of the existing button ) - that way it is easy to access rather than having to remove the CPO each time you want to adjust the volume ( ie. if using in a room where the volume needs to be turned down at times but you prefer it louder when possible ) - Having to remove the Control panel each time to adjust the volume would be a PITA - Now if you could make it work using the hole already in the CP - simply pulling out the existing switch and replacing it with the potentiometer would be much better since it is also already labelled as Volume -/+ . If paying for a kit you want one that looks good and fits in a usable position not one that makes it inconvenient to use !
We give you a foot of cable, drill a 3/8 hole in the front CPO filler plate and mount it there. Problem solved ;) You can mount it anywhere you want, typically you can adjust the volume down and then use the factory A1U volume control. This is more to help when the machine is still way too loud even on low volume. Thanks for the feedback!!
@Rufus Watson - comment was more for using a slide control rather than dial ( or a dial that uses the same size hole that is already on the control panel ) - so that it could replace the existing switch on the cab - rather than having to mount it somewhere else and still having the 3 position volume switch on the control panel. If buying a kit to modify the volume - then I'd rather pay what is needed to get one that fits into the existing CP and is accessible rather than 1 that is placed in a position where you have to remove the control panel to adjust the volume.
JDFan01, you said the same thing again. To be constructive offer a source of slider potentiometers that fit exactly in the control panel hole without modification. Do you really think they would have one made for this level of sales? The slider potentiometers craze went out in the early seventies because they were unreliable. The slider controls you see on graphic equalizers are much more expensive devices than this price point. Just drill the hole out of sight somewhere. If you do not have a drill use a knife. The thin MDF in that area will accommodate you. Good luck with mounting your dial!
@@TheSquaredM - Got the Pots from China today so Installed the volume switch in place of the original - It fits fine just deciding whether to cut off the original switch to use the plate to cover the bottom of the hole or just leave it as is. $1.28 for the 5 1K ohm pots and another $1.99 for 5 10K ohm pots with knobs ( had ordered them first but the 10K ohm is too sensitive so the adjustment barely moves to go from off to all the way up - so then ordered the 1K ohm without knobs ) - And didn't want to solder so used a couple dupont connectors I had for jumpers ( $1.33 for 40 wires) - so less than $5 for parts to do 5 machines. I just finished using your kit on my Space Invaders Arcade1up and it could not have been easier! My eardrums and I thank you very much!
Such a good idea to put this kit together. SF2 is very loud on the low setting, been wanting to do this myself for a while now. Thanks.
Installed this product today. Works great!

Installed this today, works as in the video. my pac-man machine now isn't blasting all over the game room downstairs. :)

You mean he connected the wrong cords to the switch and that it matters which one?
Would i be able to use this to turn my volume off and on? I think my volume switch on my gen 1 pac man isnt working and trying to find a way to fix it
Why doesn't turning the knob all the way down kill all audio out in the video? Is it possible for this to completely mute the audio?
yes, you can turn it down to 0
@@diyretroarcade you can set the volume to 0 via the potentiometer or the stock switch?
Is there a way to add another speaker to make it stereo?
why would you not mount the volume control to the top of the control panel, you constantly have to unscrew the panel to adjust the volume.
😂😂😂😂

@@diyretroarcade you mean it's a secondary volume? And that you are still able to use stock volume? If so, this is the mod I want.
You can buy a crap ton of potentiometer's on Amazon for like 8 bucks. And they have knobs.
Its not a standard potentiometer. The ones you will get off of amazon will have no adjustment but will lower the volume. Ours will adjust the entire turn.
Can you still use the original volume switch on the control panel if you want to cut the volume completely off?

If you guys have a mortal kombat arcade cabinet you can just go into the ejb menu theres multiple videos on it

No, control the volume threw the amp now.
No knob included? The video clearly shows how difficult it is to turn up/down the volume without a knob.

Hi there. Do they ship this kit to Germany/EU? I am not the big techie and very careful, but I would try that at least.
Ships world wide
would using this potentiometer work for the speakers you sell? im interesting in getting the "speaker grill panel that comes with 4 inch speakers"
Its should be its not a decorative knob, so best for inside mounting or would be a eye sore
Potentiometer?
Can i eliminate the original volume control and just use the dial?
its made to be used with the OEM one
@diyretroarcade . Ok thanks for answering. Is there a way to use a potentiometer for cabinets with 2 speakers?
I have centipede. It is not loud enough. Would this let me make it louder or am I stuck with its maximum volume and this will just adjust lower?
No, this will only lower the volume
Awesome!
Will this work if i have 2 speakers and a subwoofer
this is only for the factory A1U setup.
Will This work with the pcb ?
this is meant to go inline as the video shows and works with the factory A1U pcb.

that is not a good reliable method to connect wiring
