Bernard is definitely one of the GOATs of funk bass for a reason, all of the bass lines he came up with are just impeccable and melodic enough so you can always sing along with them

Not the funk genre, but I've always felt the bass parts in Airbag by Radiohead are just incredibly tasteful, minimalist, but they perfectly align with the groove

Wow. Sapko himself and I both see the "Everybody Dance" bass line as one of the best. Bernard very well may be the goat. Disco was despised by quite a few people in its day, but I haven't the slightest idea how one could resist these tunes.

I love that you're into funk and disco, so am I, I grew up in the 70s and 80s and miss the music so much. As soon as I one of my friends would put down everything but punk I'd throw on something like Walls by Crass or Abba so they'd lose their mind and leave.

IMO: James Jamerson’s bass on The Jackson 5’s “Darling Dear” is the best bass of all time. But, credit where credit is due.

I know we're all about the behs here but can we have a moments appreciation for Nile Rodger's opening guitar riff on 'Thinking Of You'
In my humble opinion the greatest opening riff of all time
I had no idea "chucking" had a name. I've been doing it for years. I just began one day when I couldn't find a pick, never looked back. Always played six string guitar with fingers anyway so I guess it developed naturally from that.
Today I learned Ratatouille makes Stingray-type basses.
Danny, you're a Hell of a behssist! Bravo! BTW, you play Good Times in first position...i do the same and i'd wager Bernard used to do it as well. Am i right?

Hey Danny, great video, I love Chic. Have you ever piccolo bassed? I know the internet recommends a short scale and preamp. But I put piccolo strings on a 34in Pbass and it sounds great. Tone on and tone off sound like 2 different instruments. I'm gonna get a new nut and saddles and make it proper
I got Daddarios. Tuning it was scary. Despite what the internet says, it doesn't hurt your finger anymore than regular roundwounds
