I had uncles and cousins who were affiliated with the Guatemalan guerrillas and died in the fight against the military junta. Thank you for uploading this, it reminds me of their sacrifices in the face of oppression
So many people say this was a civil war this and civil war that but what people forget is that many of our families express that this wasn’t just a civil war but a genocide against the indigenous population of Guatemala. Even till this day many are still healing and fighting against the oppression and erasure of the people and culture. Always indigenous and always proud I hope we always remain resilient and carry the pride of our indigeneity for what our parents and family were shamed and even killed for.
