yep, we moved out of Uptown in the mid-90's and still go back JUST for some GiGio's. The state of Uptown since then only really brings sadness but this lil spot is nearly unchanged.
Absolutely Love this place, hands down they have the best pizza in chicago. I've been eating this pizza for 47 years, since I was 2yrs old. As a kid I would save my allowance just to go here on the weekend and when I didn't have enough the owner would still give me pizza. Thank you. Now I travel to get this pizza. I grew up in the neighborhood & they don't disappoint. ❤❤❤ My favorite
It's awesome. My girlfriend took me there but I didn't really think it would be good. But OMG! It is better than chicago pizza! And I'm from chicago. Love it. Def recommend!! A+++
My family has been going there since the 1970's, even when we moved back to Chicago from Florida, Gigio's was the first place that we stopped to eat, missed that pizza for sure.

I grew up with Gigio's Pizza in Uptown. I use to sit at a table at as a young teen with my sister and there was only a curtain for the back room and I would watch the owner separate the sausage from a large white bucket. I have been all over the U.S. and nothing can compare to Gigio's Pizza.

Coming from a real Chicagoan forget the freeken doe, the sauce, the Chicago tavern thin crust square cut the SAUCE that original Chicago SAUCE SAUCE SAUCE!!!!!
Ya, as in Neapolitan style with wet pool of UNCARAMELIZED cheese floatin ON top of very expensive tomato sauce.. what a WASTE !!! Even a CaveMan can tell you where the TASTE comes from = caramelization
