Honestly if the original PSP's charger wasn't so long, I would probably do this mod. I just see no point for myself who normally just plays at home and doesn't mind plugging it in when it dies lol. You made the mod look super easy tho!
I agree, I honestly have no problem with the original cable & port, much prefer it over microusb, I got plenty of spares, battery is long enough to not care for my use, its just a nice have type of thing of a project lol
I'd love to see a 3d-printed adapter that could simply replace the yellow connector and allow (or provide) physical support for a USB-C terminal. Frankly I'm surprised no one's developed one yet, as it would be a really clean way to do it while eliminating a now-unused connection.
Keen to see how that power delivery port works! I also bought some needle files to fine tune the port, it's definitely better than trying to melt the hole or using a dremel! I am surprised you are doing this on original shells though, as quite a few members of the community complain if an OG shell is altered damaged, and a third party shell is good for practicing. A friend of mine also made a 3D printed faceplate that goes around the front of the USB C port. You bring the port out 1mm proud and can glue on this face plate and it hides the hole. It makes the port sit slightly proud but in my opinion it looks quite good. Another alternative is to plug something into the USB and use a very fine RTV silicone with a needle applicator to fill in the gaps around the port, then you smooth off the silicone with a cotton tip/qtip
@@TotalKommando It would be good to see how you approach this for a 2000 or 3000 especially if you leave the original port and splice in a new one. I'm busy investigating that right now
9:51 For your 2nd soldering guide, please experiment on trying to swap that mini-usb to usb-c. Ever since I got a psp decades ago, I feel having the cord at the bottom hinders while playing. If the USB-C is at the top, you could solder the data lines + power from the bottom as well.
@@TotalKommando LOL first time hearing those exists, but yea I don't think anyone will use any of those ever again since phones exists. Please do! I will follow your footsteps since you will be the first ever on youtube/internet that does it. I'm not brave enough.
"And I thought: What am I doing with my life? And went to bed." 😂😂😂😂 that was hilarious. Awesome video and funny. Gets a sub from me bud🎉 Keep up the info and comedy 👍
Yea ended up being more complicated than expected lol You could get the little adapter but you will have to remember to take it with you at all times, could be lost I may give the side USB idea another attempt for the sake of simplicity, but its placement is not optimal.
iirc the psp 1000 has a IR sensor on the top that is unused (except for some homebrew applications) and the IR port is roughly the same shape and size of a usb-c port. Might be a good alternative location.
@@TotalKommando Lots of modders use it for a HDMI out mod though now that i think of it. that poor IR sensor port gets used for just about everything except IR applications XD
@TotalKommando yeah, with the video out on the 2000 and 3000 it's not all that required. Though I can see why some would want to implement a video out on the 1000, and the placement of the cable is a far improvement in the mod over the official one, comfort wise at least. I look forward to your video covering it as I am curious what aspects you dislike about the mod.
@TotalKommando thanks for the reply, love your vids and passion for the psp! the pspi 6 looks like a great project to keep the psp alive 💯 hope to see more content!
Waiting for the upcoming video with a USB-C port o PSP incorporating more functions as you said in this video. In the end, you left the original charging port not connected, right?
Yea cant wait to get into that project, in the end of the video for the "Solderless" method I did leave the charging port not connected, but since then the psp is left in parts. Once I do it again, I plan to keep the original charging port function as I still want it to work like stock on old accessories : ) I want to add function, not remove as much as possible
Yea you can adapt the methods learned here to use on other models. The only thing you will have to figure out is where to exactly cut to end with a clean result. I will have shorter quick videos for other models once I do them.
I mention in this video, my goal is to keep original function, but yes you can do it, I just don't like how it looks and requires heavy modification to the case. You can use what you learn in this video to do it anywhere else you want.
Yes, you can do this too (you can even find a video on this modification on RUclips), but it doesn’t look very good. Therefore, the option in this video is one of the most optimal
The Solution is looking for a Problem 😂😂, man i really appreciate you trying it but that original charging port is already 360 Rotatable , much reliable than 2 sided usb C,
Brother can you tell me where I get psp street glass lens.. AliExpress have only 1000-3000 model. There is no psp street glass...so where I get it.. please send me a link .
@@TotalKommando Oh I see...but I saw in your video the street glass was cutted tow times. where psp 3000 model glass are not same..will 3000 glass fit on street model.?
Way more complicated than it needs to be with that you've done just for charging a psp with usb c. People are going to destroy their psp like the way you've done. I wouldn't recommend following this. 😢

Man I’m loving your psp modding series! Amazing quality videos

Will get there once I take my long vacation
If they could make it also able to use the composite output via USB-C "HDMI" that'd be super neat.
Yea it might be time to experiment and see what can be stuffed into a Type-C port

I don't like removing original function if I ever want to use an OG accessory but will def be looking into it

WHY?! The only notable OG accessory is RCA cable which uses the 3.5mm jack.
