Helped a lot.....I've worked on a lot of laptops and you never know what surprise you may find. One little wire or pin or a single screw missed that rips apart some plastic...then bam....serious damage done. It's so good to go slow and to watch someone who's done it before. Thanks for the help!

THIS VIDEO IS GREAT! If it wasn't for you I would've never been able to do this by myself, thanks to you my computer now runs great with the new fan! much appreciated

This is another reason I love my Acer Extensa 5230E. One cover on the bottom of the machine, and you can access the HD, wireless, CPU, heatsink, fan, memory, everything. I wouldn't still own it after 3 years if it was hard to work on. Thanks for this video, I think overheating is the cause of problems on a C700 I got for free and I will try to get it going again, this video will help me get 90% of the case apart to get to the heatsink/CPU to get some Silver 5 on it and clean it out good.

Thanks for the video. Mine had the fan running almost constantly and was getting hot. When I took the fan off there was a big wad of fluff blocking the vaynes on the outside grill. Now it runs great. Vid was a big help thanks!!

Thanks for the video. The only thing I needed to see additionally was how to remove the keyboard cable (which you do by sliding the pieces on each end out a little bit - which then allows the cable to just slide out). My new fan is quite and hopefully will make my laptop last a little longer!

Big thanks mate, used this vid to upgrade the CPU and give the fan/heatsink a cleanout. My poor old laptop has a new lease on life now! Cheers!

awesome! I'm going to be replacing the LCD on my c700 soon, I'm glad you have the steps leading to remove the screen assembly and housing. That's the hard part!
After the LCD is replaced, I plan to turn it in to a hackintosh, just for fun :P

Compaq Presario c700 Notebook was my first laptop. 2007 BlackFriday. 4th in line at a Staples. My cousin and sister got it too. After 6years; their laptop are still functional but not main usage. My Compaq Presario c700 Notebook has a start-up problem. Its trying to check system but freezes. I gave it hours time once but no changes. It's stuck. Need advice on that if you could. This video is perfect. I wanted every single detail. Thumbs up. More to say, but damn character limit.

thanks for the vid, It turned out to be the fan clogged up with dust stopping it spinning, so I lifted keyboard and used the vacuum on low power and spun the fan with screw driver.

On some C700 models the bezel above the keyboard has at least two screws that need pulled, maybe the video showed it but the video didn't specifically mention that the keyboard does in fact have at least 3 screws specific to it that need removed from the back. Likely you had just removed them along with a lot of others in the prior step of removing screws from the back.

On the one I did the screws were so tight from locktite that a couple of the brass threaded inserts they screw into, spun and cracked the plastic molding around them. Using a tiny bit of model cement (because I was out of superglue) I glued the brass inserts back in being careful not to get any glue in the thread area, along with the cracked plastic, then around the entire plastic raised area the stud fits into I put a fortification of epoxy being careful not to use too much so the bezel still fit down into the cavity it sits in.
I vaguely recall the same laptop had one of the screw studs for the screen frame to base, cracked too and I repaired it similarly with glue and epoxy.

I totally agree with you, I have 4 AMD quad core laptop's. And it's not a good idea to, rush through the repair process. I have a HP AMD A12 ENVY DV7, it always runs hot. But it's a quad core. So I think that's normal, it has HP cool sense. I don't have the right tools to, disasimble it. And preform a check up, but it's not a constant run hot. I think it's just application running, all of my quad core laptop's are very well taken care of.

HP offers excellent detailed instructions for replacing parts. Too bad they have these small white connectors that almost never come out in one piece. I busted two of them; one for the mic input and one for the speaker. There doesn't seem to be any release on them. You simply have to wiggle and pull on them and hope they come out in one piece.

Great tutorial Nick! I have a Toshiba L645D with overheating problems. I took the whole laptop apart and noticed the fan barely spins. I've cleaned it an unplugged it and the problem still persists. It began working for a while, but quits working after the processor reaches 60 C. Could the fan be failing or defective fan connector? Thanks for the help.

The video is great thanks.Just one thing I did not see in your demo was when you lift the cover over the motherboard there are two wires. One is attached to the mother board from the mouse pad. that came off ok but the other is a black and red wire that attaches from the cover by the fan to a connection on the mother board by the fan. The wire came out of the connector when I tried to pull it out. Any suggestions?

Followed the video as directed, but when turning the computer back on the screen did not come back on. I only followed the video to know how to get to the fan meaning that I did not take the screen off the laptop or mess with those cables. The only things removed were memory and hard drive. Have a clue what the issue might be?

I'm going to replace the fan in my c700. But I have no idea what I'm doing. Lol. I'm going to use this video as a guide. Was it really necessary to remove the hard drive, ram and the wires from the wifi card and stuff??? Or does that have to be done to replace the fan?
