Proportions. It's a pain to get right sometimes isn't it. Well it doesn't have to be.
In this video, you'll learn how to think about proportions when sketching products and of course....cars.
You want to start BIG. Explore the big elements of your products and how each element relates to another. Start with big cubes, rectangles and ellipses to get the proportions down correctly BEFORE going into detail.
There is no point of adding details if the scale and proportions are off. This is why we want to start using big geometries to "block" our product in.
I hope this made sense and that this video is useful! Turned out to be not as planned but who ever said things have to go according to plan :D

Hi dude, big thanks for this video... probably you are reacting on my comment about proportions :) designing cars is exactly what I am interested into... but my problem is, that sometimes I want to draw an existing car, I take the pictuer of it, I draw it and... I end up with deformed car :) this guessing/estimating of proportions and positions of car parts is sometimes really tough and I am looking for some hacks, how to make it better :) or is it just about time and drill? :)
Anyway, I just love watching you sketching and how easy can you draw effective drawings :)

Could you make a video how to add reflections to a sideview car sketch without markers so just with one pen?

Can you make more videos on product designing. Also, what goes in your mind when you start to design a product. What will be the first thing that you do when you start to draw. I am finding it hard to get the perspective view of any product that I have in my mind. I am good at CAD design but I want to learn and do wonderful sketches like you do. Can you help?

Hey you, I'd just like to tell you that your videos are ultra interesting to watch. I'd also like to know why don't you ever try put your drawings on the center of the paper? It could be cool every once in a while 😊

Love the cloud sketching techniques! Use it all the time on car sketches. Could you maybe show it on a few different types of vehicles? It works well for me with sedans, and sports cars, but when I try to sketch a hatchback, truck, SUV, etc... I seem to get a bit off. The other day I was trying to work on a Jeep Wrangler sketch and just kept getting off... Seems like it should be a relatively simple design, so not sure what I was doing wrong? Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge I am really struggling with perspective while drawing vehicles like I cannot get the height right where the hood matches the side of the car etc.

Any alcohol based markers, start with a set of cool grays 3-4 markers to practice shading.

For modern cars aft. 2000 yr...these proportions are invalid...hoods are short...rears are short too on most cars.
