    Loved the video! I know you don't design towards manufacturability,, but I always wonder how would this kind of cars, or some less sporty ones, if you sketch them with side mirrors and normal sized wheels. I bet they would suck if I tried, but maybe you can take on the challenge and show it's possible for it to still look good (after all, real cars are that way haha). Hope you're well and keep up the good work!

      Hey Juan, sure I could sketch the cars more realistic. But to me a sketch is suppose to be bold and dynamic and emphasize the category of vehicle that it is. Sport cars - low ground clearance, big wheels and almost like a speed form in profile.
      If I were to sketch a SUV it would be different. I would put more focus on big tires, exaggerate the ground clearance and box up the profile if that makes sense.
      It's all about what you want to communicate with your sketch.

      Every time I try to sketch a car interior, which doesn't happen very often, I end up throwing the pen away and ripping up the paper. But I might give it another shot :)

    Hey, i have something to ask to you. Do you let your pen dry a little before going with the markers? I don't know if are just my markers o what, but when i use them on top of the pen, the alcohol disturbs the lines i make with pen. I hope you get my point, greetings from Argentina! you are amazing :D

    • @Thesketchmonkey
      @Thesketchmonkey  6 лет назад

      Yes it's a common problem with markers. You can get around it by planning your pen lines. For example, in this video I decided to NOT add line weight with the BiC pen before going over with markers. If I did that, there would be more BiC in that would smear and bleed. So be light with the pen, add markers and then go back with the pen to fill in and sharpen up the lines.
      Makes sense?

    Hey Marouane sir! How are you? I started to sketch cars last year and I learned many things. But the the cars I sketch are looking plain. I think the cars need some shading and different line weights to different parts of it. Can you please help me?

    • @Thesketchmonkey
      @Thesketchmonkey  6 лет назад

      Hey Manas, the first two things to work on when the sketches are looking shallow and plain is 1, Contrast 2, Line weight.
      Add contrast and 100% black somewhere in your sketches while adding line weight to base lines and any edge facing away from your light source. Do this and you'll see improvement.
      Hope that helps.
