Just wanna quickly thank you all for the support this video's been getting! I genuinely wasn't anticipating this video to get nearly the amount of love and attention it's received, considering I originally made it for uni, so seeing it do this well has been overwhelming, to say the least. And yes, I do have plenty more of these types of videos planned, one of which I'm working on right now. Stay tuned!
idk why somebody would need a beginner's guide for an artist as mainstream as tyler. i think he would be better making videos with this quality for underground but with a firm fanbase like JPEGMAFIA and whatever..
Surprised you’re a new fan but I have to agree with your take. I discovered his tunes through interviews of him and liking him as a person before I got into his music right before flower boy came out and it solidified me as a fan also. Then IGOR came out and omg man it blew me away
Decided to listen to IGOR during the first few weeks of the pandemic after seeing all the buzz surrounding it, and needless to say that listen sent me on a death spiral, lol. Hyperfixation does wonders.
Honestly one of best video essays on Tyler I have seen. In the saturation of video essays that keep rehashing the same things/events over and over again; this is a “beginner guide” and does a very good job as that.
I remember the album not dropping at midnight for spotify users but apple music people were trolling us with how good it was on twitter. Just hearing Igor's Theme makes me tear up because I instantly think about life before Covid and how everything just stopped. It's also aged like fine wine, not all of my friends liked it when it dropped but now everyone loves it.
Killer video man. I'm a hardcore T fan and I know pretty much everything there is to know about this guy, save for the most obscure pre-OF material. This video really is a great introduction and should do a good job of peaking people's interest. Seriously, the quality of this content does not warrant these views. Great job.
I just checked the channel and HOLY SHIT DUDE the quality seems like you've been making content for years! It's a simple, straight to the point overview of Tyler's career, with high-quality graphics and meaningful insights. This is probably one of the best music-related RUclips videos i've ever watched, prolly one of the best YT vids I ever watched overall too. Would love to see more videos like this! =)
i have listened to tyler since around the release of wolf, my mom LOVED goblin and bastard, and showed me wolf when it released. While i am not a beginner, this video goes insane.
I also came across Tyler the creator with IGOR. i listened without thinking about it and liking a few songs then got deeper into it and then actually LISTENED. its an amazing album and is a perfect start to Tyler as an artist. Cool video :))
i feel like this video completely matches tylers vibe, and it just is extremely well edited. i cant agree more with the fact that igor is a very good starter album! i am a huge tyler fan and love the way you phrased every detail in this video
i feel like cherry bomb had to be generally disliked for everyone to really appreciate and love flower boy as well as is it made tyler take a more experimental(i.e. how he goes away from what he did before) approach but in a different way
I first heard tyler when my brother called me into his room and told me to listen to “answer” with him, ever since then i’ve been listening since, excited for the next album. Great job with this video, it’s absolutely amazing.
ive been a tyler fan since 2019, and have fell inlove with his music ever since. this video is perfect, you did a great job explaining and the visuals were also amazing.
im honestly blown away with the editing on this video! ive been a huge fan of tyler for 12 years and this video would be so helpful for newer fans, or just fans who want to know more about him. you are truely talented, super engaging video and the editing is amazing!
I got goosebumps at 12:35 because I read some Baudelaire poems in a book that is currently right infront of me before watching this. I watched this because I loved SWEET/I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE and was captivated by the french bit which says "apelle-moi si tu te perde" and it all makes sense now
I listen to Tyler since 2010 when I was in high school. Out of all the artists in the 2010s... I like how he evolved the most. I don't listen to him nearly as much compared to 2010-2016 ish? but some of his old songs evoke good memories, so I appreciate him.
Wild, I found Tyler when IGOR came out and listened to Earfquake a lot but never bothered to check the rest of his stuff out. Now in 2022 I got recommended him by a friend and have listened to Call Me if You Get Lost, IGOR, and Flower Boy and love so many of his tracks, excited to listen to the other albums soon. This was a really good informative video and surprised to see you only have 502 subscribers, I'll make it 503 :) and personally I like almost everything on Call Me if You Get Lost more than the other albums but they're all really good
Nah bro same cause when I listened to flower boy it changed my life in so many ways. I had always been in the fence about Tyler but I finally opened my mind up about a year ago and gave him a chance
The Wolf Trilogy (along with early Death Grips) is a major factor in me exploring rap/hip hop, after being exclusively metal/punk for my late teens. The sort of violent chaos was kind of therapeutic for me, in a way that previous musical interests just couldn't quite scratch. There were days where I craved the gritty, aggressive sound of Tyler contradicting himself on Yonkers. Really, looking back on his discography, it's all sort of relatable. Going from violent, chaotic thoughts and trolling, born out of a sort of fractured psyche from a shitty upbringing; to gradually becoming more chill... and gay.
I've actually been video editing for over 6 years now, but this is my first time doing something in this style. Definitely will be doing more like it down the road!
I still listen to Igor twice a day Edit: Ayo I got that like, also now I still listen to Igor but I’m bumping call me if you get lost just because that shit makes me move.
The video is great, the style is unique, the editing is vey very clean, and all of that with 1k subs,Legendary You are going places bro Pls make the next video about Frank Ocean in this same style
I do have reason to beleive that he planned out Bastard, Goblin, and Wolf. Heres why: In the fist track of Bastard, Doctor T.C, the alter ego therapist that speaks throuhout bastard, goblin and wolf , says "Well, Tyler, hi, I'm Dr. TC and um, I'm guessing that your teacher sent you here to talk 'cause you were misbehaving Um, it's gonna be three sessions: today, tomorrow, and the next day". The first session between the two is Bastard. The second, Goblin, and the third and final one, Wolf. He must have planned out something like that.
i just recently got into tyler through igor and honestly he’s already one of my favorite artists. awesome editing and honestly amazing video this needs more views - new subscriber!
Great video. Loved the editing style and really apreciate the amount of effort this probably took. While being very opiniated its still very clear and much more self consious than i expected. Good luck dude keep up with the good work
After watching this video i immediately went onto your channel to watch more, this quality of content is so refreshing, I’m a huge Tyler fan and would love to see more videos!!!
Im not new to Tyler, Ive been listening to him for almost a year now, but I keep coming back to their video. It's just so well produced. Great video man
reccomending this video to everyone i know who wants to become a tyler fan. amazing and understandable descriptions for each album with awesome visuals. i cant imagine how long it took to get the script that perfect
Amazing video but you should’ve mentioned more about the album , like the deaths in each album like, how the flower boy dies in garden shed, or how Igor era dies in a boy is a gun
i found tyler when yonkers released and i never looked back. i do cry about everything BUT getting to watch his way up - nothing like it. i remember going to a show of his in 2013 at a really, really small venue in seattle. at that time, he didn’t bring his own sound and used the house sound. it was terrible haha. every show since. every album. it only gets better.
I have known Tyler for quite some time, but as someone who doesn't listen to rap extensively, I hadn't paid much attention to him until I came across the song "See You Again." It piqued my curiosity and led me to explore more of his music, particularly "Sorry/ I Thought You Wanted to Dance." However, I found myself confused about where to begin and which album to choose. That's when I stumbled upon your incredibly well-edited and fantastic video. I cannot thank you enough for creating such an insightful and captivating piece. As you suggested, I will definitely start my exploration with "IGOR."
if you were to start listening to tyler id say the best way to go would be: (left to right) flowerboy > wolf > CMIYGL > cherry bomb >igor > bastard > goblin. this gives you a good mix of what he has to offer whilst also easing you into some of the stuff that is an acquired taste that can take many years or multiple listens to start enjoying. sounds crazy that i says years but i never liked cherry bomb, bastard or goblin at all but every once and a while id feel the urge to give them another try and over time there is probably less than 5 tracks in his entire discography that i genuinely think are bad and dont like.
This video is one of the nearest thing to reach perfection that i ve seen, and u have 2 thousand follower… like, how is that possible? keep it up dude couse what u ve done is really beautiful.

Dude I can't accept it's been 4 years since IGOR was released. I remember like yesterday. I had first listened to Tyler around 6 months earlier and was into hip hop more than in any other moment of my life. Rusty and I Ain't Got Time were bangers that I'd listen to everyday. I was with my wife in a hospital because she was kinda sick, and while waiting for her to get examined (which ended up not happening bc the place was full as fuck and we left lol) I listened to most of IGOR and HATED IT so much. When I saw a new Tyler album I thought it'd be 100% hip hop bangers and when listening to songs as Earfquake or A Boy is a Gun I was like "WTF is this shit". Then I read he said it wasn't a rap album. Still pissed off. Days passed and I felt like listening to one song or another... Weeks passed and I started to know the lyrics of a few songs... then many songs... then ALL the freakin songs in the album. Up to this day it's my favorite Tyler album and one of the rare situations where I listen to a whole album without skipping a song. It truly is gender bending. Flower Boy stands as my 2nd favorite and now I caught myself finding out about CMIYGL 2 years late lol and not liking the album so much because I expected some different stuff than just regular hip hop. Man, do we change! hahaha Amazing video, script, editing, narration. Unfortunately you didn't post anything else, but you got the potential to live from RUclips easily with your skills and talent.
Funny, when I first got into him I liked songs like garden shed, peach fuzz, Igor’s theme, then got into radicals, ace music and bastard/goblin/wolf so and I’m currently in love with cmiygl
