Я меняюсь к лучшему. YA menyayus' k luchshemu. I am changing myself. This is why we have reflexive verb with [cя=sa][ сь.=s'] Maybe I used to have bad habits, but now I am changing for the better. 3. Поменять[Pamenyat']= to change{Perfective form- one time action} Same meaning as “Менять [menyat']{to change} but with a different grammatical aspect. We are going to focus now on simple facts versus the process of changing something. For example: -I changed the windows in my house. Я поменял окна у себя в доме. YA pamenyal okna u sebya v dome. 4. Зaменить[Zamenit']=To replace Now we will get into specific words that have additional meanings, because we are going to add prefixes to them, that have meanings within them. For Example: Зaменить[Zamenit']=To replace something with something else. And the focus here is that the thing we replaced is don with, finished. And the new thing{the replacement} is the most important thing. Not the previous old stuff that was there, we are focusing now on something new to come. For example[ a sad one though]: -We have replaced you with a new employee. Мы заменили тебя на нового сотрудника. My zamenili tebya na novava satrudnika. 5. Cменить[Smenit']=To replace and get rid of old stuff Cменить[Smenit']= Also means to replace something but focuses more on getting rid of old stuff first then on the actual replacement or new thing. This is because the current stuff is no longer good or useful. For example: -We need to change the topic of discussion. Нам нужно сменить тему разговора . Nam nuzhna smenit' temu razgavora . 6. Изменить[Izmenit']= to change something by fixing/repairing Изменить[Izmenit'] does means “to change something” not by replacing it with something new, but by changing the thing itself; by altering something in the existing object. For example: -We need to change the company’s policy. Нам нужно изменить политику компании. Nam nuzhna izmenit' palitiku kampanii. Not to get a new policy, but to change what is in it, maybe to change the rules that govern it. 7. Обменять [Abmenyat']= to exchange, swap, trade, barter. Basically to exchange something with something else.
