I’m happy for this young man 🇰🇷 make your country proud in LA ! As a Dodgers fan I love all the new international players and heritage coming to Dodger Stadium! Already made couple friends from Japan who stay in touch and talk Dodger baseball !
Hyeseong Kim played against the Dodgers in Korea this year. Had a double off Bobby Miller. From what I’ve been watching, great lead off guy, lot of speed, hits a lot of doubles and good infield glove. Through 8 seasons, has 1000+ career hits, .304 career AVG, 386 RBIs, 211 SB (37 CS for an 85% steal success rate), .766 career OPS
As a Korean I don't have high hopes for him. He can be an avg MLB player sure with great defense but everyone's looking up to Kim Do Yeong who is only 21 and has the highest OPB + AVG and great power while playing decent 3rd base. But who knows Hye will have to improve because he's .322 in KBO doesn't mean shit to me. He will need to adapt to MLB and improve for sure.
@@aoh4905 This is fine because they signed him to a 3yr/$12.5M deal +2yr club option that would generate him a total of $22M. If he doesnt pan out the way the Dodgers like him to, they dont need to pick up his club options. Kim Do Yeong on the other hand, great power and speed but on the flip side, not a utility player like Kim Hye Seong. It'll also be another 4 years till he post for the MLB so if for whatever reason it doesnt work out for Muncy, who's in his final year of his contract unless the Dodgers exercise their club option for the '26 season, they have people they can slot at 3B if they want to sign Kim Do Yeong 2-3 years later (after Muncy and again, if they want to part ways) OR trade for someone later. Either way, Kim Hye Seong was a very good bargain gamble coming in at $4M a year. Its not like they're gonna start him either
Phx resident, Lifelong Dodgers fan. I will 💯 going to Dodgers Dbacks gameS. This season will be great. I am excited to watch this Dodgers team all season🙌🍻
Ireland asked a great question, both Japan and Korea still to this day use traditional Chinese words in some of their literatures and related areas esp history related areas
As long as they get a bag of sunflower seeds and a tub of bubble gum for Taylor and Lux I'm happy! Keep Kiké, that's the other "utility guy" they need. Dude can pretty much play any spot on the diamond!
@@martingalvez4097 I strongly believe they have a plan and a handshake agreement. There are players currently on the roster that can be DSA or traded. For instance, i(just an example) if they can trade Lux for a prospect that spot would open up or they can or just DSA Taylor who only has one year left and is basically useless to the Dodgers at this point. Kiki is too valuable in the clubhouse and versatile on the field and in the playoffs for the Dodgers to let that walk. They want him and he wants to come back so they'll figure something out 🤞
@@martingalvez4097 they are trading Lux and CT3 to make room for Kike and whoever they bring back. Bo bichette or Luis Robert jr make a lot of sense for this team or they might just move Lux in a deal to bring a minor leaguer back like they did with Busch
Just a heads up on Mookie. Brandon Gomes has already said Mookie will definitely be playing SS this year. I think he may have some idea what's up with that.
Everyone keeps saying that Hyeseong Kim is the replacement for Kiké, but Kiké is a much better player than Kim. Kim’s defense may translate well to MLB, but his bat probably won’t and will need time to adjust/improve/develop. Kim’s ability to hit for average in the KBO is based on KBO pitching which is at AA level (which is a nice way of saying it blows). Kim is going to have problems with MLB pitchers and will be a depth piece in case of injuries. Go watch Brandon Gomes interview regarding Kim and Gomes clearly states that Kim’s bat is going to require work/development. The dollar value of Kim’s contract ($12.5 MIL/3 years) and the terms reflect that.
Yeah this part of the world is nothing like Europe language-wise. I mean I'm Brazilian but I can get along pretty well with any of those romance languages because it's so similar. We just have to mock the pronunciations and voila (besides if you don't get it you just say "No entendo" and ANY Spanish or Italian or Portuguese or most Romanian speaker will understand.) No such free lunch between Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
I believe Dodgers will in fact try Mookie at SS but it won’t be long term. I eventually see Mookie playing at 2nd base. Dodgers will have Kim playing at SS with platooning MoggyRo and Edman. MiggyRo will eventually be a SS player/coach/mentor/ for who ends up at SS… again I think Mookie gives it a go at SS but if he plays a full or even a half season at SS I will be surprise.
They have no Idea who you’re talking about sadly lol, That’s crazy too cuz he’s been a top prospect at catcher for awhile now, But they’ve had too many catchers they don’t even have room for Dalton on the big league club
I had the same question as Ireland 😂 Japanese and Korean are 2 different languages? Glad he asked that question hopefully Kim bonds well with the Japanese regardless!!!
@@amberrivera9684 Yes. Japanese and Korean are two different languages. You thought they were the same? Korean and Japanese are two different languages just as French and German are two different languages.

Put him 9th, so he bats in front of Shohei. Him running around the bases with Shohei/Mookie/Freddie coming up with nobody out in late innings????

Everyone doubled off Bobby Miller last year lol
This is gonna piss off Ha Seong Kim fsfs
I became both older and less intelligent because I listened to the first 3 minutes of this.
This station is bad.
1st Japan and now Korea, smart Dodgers business move.
Might want to change the thumbnail picture, which is NOT Hye-Seong Kim. It's actually Oh Ji-Hwan of the LG Twins
Korean speaker here.... Actually you have to say his last name first , and actually pronounced "KEEM" (Kim) then finish with "Heh- Soung"
Huh? Hoo? Hayyy

After bringing up how hye-seong and ha-seong are different, mason reads off ha-seong’s kbo stats instead of hwy-seong. C’mon guys 🤦♂️ do better
