  • This week we return to Agile Offroad in Santee, California for additional upgrades to our Pleasure Way Ascent. Agile installs a new spare tire carrier that allows us to carry both a spare tire and our fat tire RAD mini ebikes. We also get an ARB air compressor installed that can quickly inflate tires that have been deflated to gain traction on sand and dirt. We also learn about adding extra fuel tanks, installation of a more robust horn, and how to use the burly tire jack that is sold by Agile.

      I learned something last year that struck me as humorous. Apparently the panels are actually 100 watts, not 95. I think the importer claims 95 to avoid some sort of tariff. We leave Disney World tomorrow. Plans changed and we need to be back home March 1.

    I got a kick out of the horn issue. Replacing the stock meep meeper was one of my earlier upgrades to my 2018 Ascent. I used a pair of Hellas, which I was able to fit into the location of the original horn after removing it. I am not a big honker, but when I need a horn, I want it to be an attention-getter. Mine cost less than $30 all in, but I did it myself. Sounds like a Mercedes should sound!

    I went to agile off-road for Modification per your recommendation, List of upgrades RIP Kit, Rhino wheel package including spare tire carrier, onboard air, Pedal box New horn, Tug step. but I had quite a bit of trouble, to begin with, they did not move the Propane access and they advise the biggest tire they can install is 265/70-R-17 with no rub fender modification but the tire does not fit because the front tires are rubbing when turning the wheel we waited 4 hours to modify. They broke the clip on the front panel trim but instead of replacing them they put 2 screws inside the passenger door and 1 screw inside the driver's side creating a gap. Not sure if they are doing quality control. Not sure if you may want to stop recommending that shop

I was wondering if it is possible to install one in pleasure way Ascent with the way their other tanks are underneath? Hi:
    Great info in this video. Did you also exchange your horn for something louder?
    I was wondering about the weight on the back of your rig with the bikes and spare tire. It almost looks a little “back-heavy” because the bikes are spaced a little farther out than the spare tire. Do you find the movement, or bouncing of the bikes to be an issue?
    Do you know the total weight of everything (van, people, bikes, spare tire, etcetera) now that you have added these extras?
    The air compressor and extra gas tank were interesting. I wonder how much extra weight that adds.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  4 года назад

      John really wants the horn but we didn't get it this time. We don't notice any difference in the way the vehicle handles with the tires/bikes. We did not get the gas tank as we have never had an issue finding fuel. But the weight would be mostly just the liquid which is about 8lbs per gallon.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  4 года назад

      The tire adds about 70lbs and the bikes add about 140lbs.

    Does any of the upgrades void the MB warranty?

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  4 года назад +2

      Manufacturer's will always try to blame something you have done to a vehicle, but the reality is, they would have to show that what you did was the cause or contributed to the failure. Have you ever heard of someone having a suspension problem while it was under warranty? We're already out of warranty. Besides, you'll never get MB to tell you anything other than what serves their interests. Most people think they have to take the vehicle to MB for routine service, but you don't and it doesn't void the warranty. Some states are more aggressive on warranty issues than other states so you would need to consult an expert in your state/country.

    Auto manufacturers are so silly. Gas jerrycans are red, gas vehicle caps (e85 rated or whatever they are) are yellow. Diesel jerrycans are yellow, diesel cap is red. That is really so sneaky stuff to create fixes by user error.

    • @geekazoid

      The standardized color code for diesel fuel fill is green not yellow. It used to be yellow. Storage is still yellow though. Why they used a red cap is baffling.
