What I love about the hyprland config system is the syntax is super super straightforward and it all live reloads so you know when you broke syntax somewhere or a setting got deprecated

(TL;DR hyprland is cool to me because it has the choice between doing dwindle, or all of the master and stack layout, along with doing scratchpads well. And to me is the most tolerable wayland compositor (not a sway fan) )
Yeah. I changed my animations around sped some up, changed out the sytle on some.
Also i got rid of the dwindle layout you can use the master stack style which gives some benifits. Like you can add a key bind to swap around all the different styles of master and stack, out of the box is basically has all of then including the centered master which is one of my favorites for certain situations.
Also. It has scratchpads working out of the box, similar to.i3's which so far has been the only other window managers scrarchpad implementation i have liked so far. I still need to spend time to figure out how to make the special workspace make the window floating and centered automatically but that doesnt matter much.
So really for me hyprland might not be better than some of my x11 window managers, but it is for sure the best wayland compositor I've tried, and has a lot of features out of the box. So while I'm using qtile (and i started configuring awesome to make myself learn that its pretty great after you make yourself do the work) dwm, i3. Its good i think I have a wayland compositor I know i like for the eventuality of x11 getting phased out.
Also i do like tofi a lot as well, like you mentioned its nice to configure.

@@_BLANK_BLANK I really need to explore layouts I don't really use anything aside from dwindle/spiral. scratchpads is another thing I should probably use, I had it set up a while ago but never used it. I'm curious to see how good river is in comparison imma work on it tonight.

@@jdanks for me if I just had one layout i had to pic it would be the normal master and stack layout. I think having the multiple ones in the stack with the split going the same way gives me a bit more use for what I do.
Otherwise though. Having the centered master can genuinely be nice in some situations.
Dwindle isn't bad at all. And on i3 i do just use autotiling. And it works fine. I just slightly prefer the master and stack layout.
Scratchpads are nice (hyprland calls them special workspaces). Provided you remember to use them. There are a lot of situations where a scratchpad would save me a lot of effort moving around workspaces or swaping windows. That if I remember to use a scratchpad is a breeze

@@jdanks oh! I just remembered one of the cooler things hyprland does out of the box that can be a bit more of a pita on others.
You can set up your terminal to be swallowed by terminals it launches. I will have to check my config if it was just a line I added for it to do that, or if it was just a true false thing. But thats something on other window managers I miss from hyprland.
