i think this is definitely a big factor but if you think of the actual scale of it it doesnt make sense. idk i dont know a good way to articulate this tbh lol fun thing to think about though
I agree, I've done this myself, download and installed, 5mins later wipe and put something else on it ;) and thought why on Earth was that so high up on the ranks.
I actually use MX Linux and it is really great. It's based of Debian and it has no systemd which makes it very fast. Everything is setup and it comes with a bunch of tools i need. It's not just a meme, its a working distro
MX Linux is pretty powerful and they have customized the experience for your needs. Not only that, it's actually a good gaming distro for it's ability to get you the latest Nvidia drivers suited for the kernel you're running. I honestly think you might be a little paranoid.
You're right about "Linux RUclipsrs", but as a 4 and a half year user of MX Linux, I can tell you it's one of the best distros I have ever used. Specially the XFCE version, hive it a try. Don't know too much how distrowatch ranking works though.

I think MX Linux went to number #1 back around the end of 2019, and jumped to the top of the charts during the bad times and I think a lot of people were bored and gave linux a chance. But it use to be Mint that was Number 1 for a couple years before MX. Can offer 1 quick constructive thing about your audio. It sounds great but you should consider putting a towel or a piece of foam under your microphone . Every time you tap the desk or your keyboard it puts off a crazy loud low tone. Most people listening on a tablet won't hear it but if you listen on any type of speaker its REAL bad. I'm listening of a set of Genelec 1032C studio monitors. It sound like you might be using a microphone on a stand that sits on your desk if you are grab a piece of foam and sit the mic stand on the foam, if you don't have any foam lying around just put a kitchen towel under it and the problem is solved. Everything else sounds great Cheers!

If you look at the title of the ranking, it is a ranking on hits. That's all that is. Just because people can access the data, doesn't mean people will understand and interpret the data with any level of understanding as to the significance of the data or the implications of the data.
