If you ever get the chance I highly recommend getting a Helio smart heater from innovative Marine one of the best heaters I've ever used they're small and efficient too
These are the differences between the Nano Osmolator 3 and the regular Osmolator 3 as discussed with a Tunze representative: The differences are considerable, outside of the appearance they function quite differently. The new Osmolators function essentially like the older ones, so the Osmolator 3 has a safety back up sensor, it has a 10 minute time limit, the magnet is stronger, the pump gets more power and can pump higher (up to 20ft), the Osmolator 3 Nano has no safety sensor, it is a version built to a price point for nano tank hobbyists/beginners that generally have a considerably smaller investment. The safety is a time limit which is quite short 77 or 154 seconds, this is set by the user but means it absolutely will not work on a system much bigger than 55 gallons, if the time limit is exceeded it shuts down and will never run again until reset by cycling the power. While the pump is more or less the same, it gets less power and runs slower, it also has a different connector for power and the hose to cut costs, a compression fitting is used instead of a push fitting and the pump connection for power is a headphone jack style connector instead of the fancy 3 pin waterproof connector on the Osmolator 3. Likewise the Osmolator 3 has a single Y cable which is made in Germany and is polyurethane, this is a custom cable produced by a high end supplier of waterproof outdoor lighting cables, the end connections are a Japanese 3 pin connector for the pump and Japanese white gold plated power socket for power, these are replaced by 2 off the shelf PVC cables with a standard nickel plated power socket and the headphone jack for the pump on the Osmolator 3 Nano, the Osmolator 3 is made to be nearly indestructible so the connectors are the best available and made for wet locations, the Osmolator 3 Nano connectors will be better than any of our competition but they can corrode and be destroyed by saltwater. The power supply on the Osmolator 3 is a high end medical grade power supply from a German OEM (made in Vietnam), this meets a much higher level of safety in wet locations and against power surges, the Osmolator 3 Nano has a standard home appliance grade power supply (Taiwanese company but made in China). For all practical purposes the Osmolator 3 is a top off for someone who just wants the best, the Osmolator 3 Nano is only suitable for smaller aquariums, it is made for the consumer who is looking for an economy unit, the reason being when you have tens of thousands invested in livestock, it would be absolutely foolish to scrimp on an ATO, but if you have a small desk top nano $230 is a considerable investment so this consumer is more in the $100 price point and while it is the best in this low price point range, it is functionally a very different product from the Osmolator 3.
Hey man, some great information there that I've been searching for. Can the normal osmolator 3 ( not nano ) still be used in a nano? Like is the minimum 10 second timer too mcuh?
Aux cable got me too glad I watched this lol
Thank you for making this video. I had the same problem!
@sptulsa1 glad it helped!

@chunkydino6252 thanks! I'll look into them.
Like the failsafe and quality of those ATOs will def pick one up in the next build!
Thank you so much! I had the exact same problem and I spent hours searching online for video about it.
Happy it helped.

Wow! Thanks for that info. I'm going to add this to my description. Much appreciated.

Wait so for nano version. The safety is it can only run max 55 seconds?
Man it is so quite compared to the older version.
It is! This tank is in my living area so it has to be.
