This version is more emotional because it came from an experience that he actually had.
If I remember correctly it was about him in his college/uni days about a girl he liked but never had the nerve to talk to.
@@JoshHowardChannel yup. Story I saw was that he actually saw the object of his affections in the audience during one of their early concerts too.
@@JoshHowardChannel no it didn't. He got it from the drummer's dog Special...who was homeless, but hung at the flat they practiced in. Thom used to go out and smoke and tried giving him the cream off his latte...Thom said, I'm not a creep. Song born.
@@carrotontherun6412 cool story bro
@@JoshHowardChannel it's true. Thom told it in 93' .in a quite funny interview
But, we know Thom. Probably in his head...it's true though
The "RUN! RUN! RUN! RUNNNNN" and screaming guitars is so fucking off the hook.
It tears me up just as much today as it did over 25 years ago.
sad
Yup. There's his anger and pain.
YESSUH😊
😊🤙🏾
Raw emotion right here. It would be blasphemous to say the original was not the best version.
Agreed
@Dale Cooper yea the one with yellow pants lol
@Dale Cooper Yess, hedgehog hairstyle and yellow pants, that was the best..:-)
It is the best for sure

Black woman here. This whole album is amazing. I can't listen to Fake Plastic Trees without crying.
Fake Plastic Trees is on The Bends
A very special band who's music isn't always easy to like at first but its definitely worth exploring their library as its pepperd with genius
Exactly. Some bands put out albums that are easy to like, but you feel you know everything about them after three listens. But an album like Kid A or Amnesiac keeps its mystery. It's difficult but intriguing at first... and it brings you back again and again and makes you feel like you love it but you'll never understand all of it.
They grow on you especially from the third albums
I agree
Immensely true
their album "the bends" is a masterpiece
In the 90's the Brits ruled this kind of music. Radiohead, Oasis, Blur, The Verve - they were on another level, massive respect
You're exactly on point....
The original is the banger. It's an absolute classic. Everyone knows this song & loves his true raw emotion. Great review. I'm glad you watched it.
"I want you to notice, when I'm not around" is one of the most poignant lyrics I've ever heard.
I agree
In my opinion “I don’t belong in here” is better, but both are great lyrics
@@mata6340 I cannot disagree. Both are great lyrics. "I want you to notice..." just hits a little closer to home, for me. Have a great day! Btw, you belong any DAMN place you want to be! 😜
Another of their songs “Karma Police” ends with something equally poignant, “Phew…for a minute there lost myself.”
Yesss
I think that most people have felt this way, I know I have. Nothing beats the original.
Richard Cheese does a good cover
Only the acoustic one can beats the original
That song makes me cry...and it is by FAR the best version cause HE wrote it! It comes from the heart.
Radiohead is amazing!
5 gifted musicians, songwriters, innovators, pioneers that changed the music business and put their stamp on music from the mid-90s on.
They are a band that is hard-to-like, changing styles and instrumental attack at every turn of a whim. But, when you get it, they are outstanding!
I dont think I've ever met a musician who doesn't gush about Radiohead. Our generations Led Zep or pink floyd.
Hard to like and easy to love... cheers
Hello to all my fellow creeps out there, we make the world a more interesting place to be!!! Great reaction Jayy!!!
I’m 61, and I’ve heard a ton of great music in my time. I grew up in the 70’s listening to the best music ever made. And, I have kept up with music up to now. While I don’t put Radiohead at the top of my favorite bands, this, hands down, is the best song ever made. I mean, just the message of the song. Wow. So many of us can relate. Some more than others at the end of their rope. And his raw emotion! Oh my God.
I weep like a school girl every time I hear this track.
This is such a powerful song. I cry every time I hear it. Because I’m a creep…
Your reaction was priceless when he hit the .."i'm a creep.." for the first time..just like my reaction the first time I heard it. The emotion he puts into this song is unreal. I wish more performers did this in their songs
"...I want you to notice, when I'm not around."
Gets me every time.
What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here.
One of the few songs that I know exactly where I was the first time I heard it. Seventeen years old, working cleaning classrooms of my local elementary school in the evening, and had the radio tuned to the alternative station (Live 105 in SF), and they played "Creep" for the first time. I literally stopped what I was doing and just stood there, feeling every feel. I'm a lot older now, but this song reminds me of the awkward seventeen-year-old boy I used to be every time.
We have all felt this way, whether we want to admit it, or not.
On this version my wife and I danced when we met 23 years ago. It was in an Amsterdam club. Glad to see that you like it too!😉
Now you made me feel old is it really 23 years ago creep became an anthem
This was one of the songs that sawed my life when I was a 13 year old girl. I'm over 40 and still rocki n 🤘
🤘
I don't think I can bring myself to watch a cover version of this, it is utterly flawless.
This song is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in my long life. Hard for me not to tear up or even cry because like you it is very relatable for me. You are awesome.
I want you to notice, when I'm not around. Great line.
Also, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Fake Plastic Trees. Radiohead are unique. Don't expect the usual fare. They're weirdly awesome and I know you'll love them.
This song is one of the greatest rock songs of all time. I get the chills every time I see this video. A masterpiece.
Radiohead are so talented that a cover is never going to cover it.
I actually love Lucifers cover to this song
Rolling Stone called them out as a "one hit wonder" 3 times in the 90s, and they became one of the hugest bands of the mid 90s to mid 2000s.
Rolling Stone also shit all over Weezer's Pinkerton when it came out, and a few years later went back and ranked it one of the greatest albums of all time. I've always loved reading Rolling Stone, it's been kind of a constant in my life since the 90's, but they get it wrong A LOT.
Radiohead sort of exploited the same gap in the market as Nirvana did - the anger or the vulnerability or the terrible need to conform that gets foisted upon us. Some of it gets quite dark, some of it is sarcastic, some of it reminds me of the sort of 'music as therapy' period John Lennon went through in the early 1970s.
Down the Raidohead hole you shall go... so many great songs by them.
Another totally mind bending British legendary rock band!!!
I wish I was special.
Check out Radiohead - Paranoid Android live on Jools Holland.
Thanks for recommending that, what a performance!
@@PaulMclauchlin
It's my favourite performance of the track. Jools Holland always had excellent performances on his shows though, the audio mixing is always top-notch, making even bands I don't like, sound good. They did a stellar (Interstellar?) performance of Airbag on the same episode.
Yeeeessss!
I like the studio version better. The counterpoint comes through more cleanly.
@@martyslazenger935
Studio version gets blocked on RUclips.
This is why they gave you your own show!! Great reaction!!!
You can never beat the original. Radiohead is beyond an amazing band
This is kind of early days for the band, chart-wise. They went on to transcend a lot of the labels that would follow UK acts around over the next decade. What gets me about this is that it precisely describes my feeling about my other half. She's an African Queen and I look like some strange middle-aged nerd.
My grandp used to say "fiddlesticks"', I love that you say that. Radiohead make you feel every emotion with this song...we've all felt like this before.
yes you did RadioHead, much love!! love your hair also :)
Such a powerful song. Hence everyone on the planet covers it.
And ... You GET it. Awesome reaction.
Thom Yorke the singer wrote the song about a girl at college he fell in love with but he never approached her or told her how he felt. The lyrics of the song tell you why. So heartfelt. That's why no one can better this original version from the writer. The pain he felt is all there in this performance.
Radiohead is and always will be a great band great voice and deep song writing!!
My absolute favourite group. Their track record is amazing. "The Bends" is on of the best rock albums ever made. For me it´s no.1.
I love how it affected you emotionally. You're reactions brought tears to my eyes even though you were able to maintain. I cried for you. God bless you
When she said "😳" I felt that
Radiohead has been the best band on the planet for the last 20 years.
The live version of this is pretty good too
I remember this from back in the day. Oh, my lost youth!
Radiohead is one of my all time favorite bands from the 90s on . Lead singer Thom Yorke has voice of an angel. One of the most intelligent bands of x gen. Please listen to "Lotus Flower" by them. Incredible as well as "Where you end and I begin" Peace and blessings.
I've seen this video of the live, uncensored version of this song several times, and yet, every time he throws his head back and screams out those high notes, with the veins on his neck popping out, it gives me chills and thrills me.
And I feel exactly as you do -- THIS is the original version and although Haley Reinhart did a good job with it, Radiohead's version was written by them (mostly the lead singer -- from personal experience) and you just can't beat it for emotional impact.
You'll love Prince's cover of Creep, live at Coachella.
This song is so fuckin special! ❤️ pouring his heart out all over that stage!
I’m with you I love this version. And I love it because I’ve lived through this stuff in late teens and into my 30s.
No one would get mad at you...this is the OG banger.
You should see him sing the live version. He has such an amazing voice!
One of the greatest bands of all time.
Everyone who already feel rejection once, can relate to this song. Radiohead one the best bands ever!
Creep by Radiohead is one of the great authentic sings ever... check your soul if it doesn't touch you in some way...
Thom wrote this song about a beautiful girl he fell in love with in college. He was picked on & bullied in school and had anxiety because of it. He had to get drunk to approach her and when he did she rejected him. He said he felt like a creep & weirdo so… Creep was written way before Radiohead got together. Johnny Greenwood put the transition in but it was an American record reproducer who suggested he make it louder & more powerful and he did!!! It was way more popular here than in the UK… Johnny is a musical genius, always loved this song for the raw emotion it brings out in all of us❤️ it remains on my playlist to this day!!
Would love to see your reaction to the 'No Surprises' video
They do great videos, don't they?
They are both beautiful for different reasons. I loved bot of your reactions thank you lovely lady.
You just heard one of my favourite songs from my favourite band. Radiohead. Creep. Classic! 😁
So glad you saw this. Now you can appreciate how the song was completely transformed by Haley and PMJ. It's like two completely different songs! PMJ took a classic hard rock song and turned it into a jazz vibe. It is just a great song period. Both takes are awesome. I absolutely loved your reaction on both. BTW You are beautiful!!
I have felt this way pretty much my entire life (I am 62). No matter where I go, I feel like I don't belong there. I keep waiting for someone to walk up to me and say "what are doing here? get out before I throw you out." Even around my family I am an outsider. Every one during the holidays would talk about the trips and things they did together... stuff I was never invited to. But when they need money, I am the first person they hit up. I have never been in love nor has anyone ever loved me (including my parents). Jayy, I see nothing wrong with you. You are pretty, smart, and talented. Anyone would be lucky to have you in their life.
The deftones have this same vibe, my favorite song from them is called "be quiet and drive" i think you'll like this song
There are some great live versions of them doing this, and when he sings run on them, damn, it's good.
No apologies are necessary. You are correct. This original is absolutely the best version. It's his song and he owns it. No other cover comes close to feeling the emotions that you feel when hear him sing. (And it's a great song to sing along with - as loud as you can - alone in your car.)
You are BEAUTIFUL! you have a beautiful open mind! Thank you for your reaction. You made me happy!
Years ago one of my brothers who is bipolar was od’ing and he played this song and just held me and sobbed. Thankfully he’s okay now but it was a long hard road. I always remember that time listening to this song. He was getting a divorce from his first wife and he was in a really bad place. ❤️🇺🇸
I've heard that greatest rock 'n roll song rated no. 1 is Stairway To Heaven. This song right here is got to be the greatest rock 'n roll anthem ever recorded, hands down!
Thom Yorke has that thing called...talent. Wow oh wow. Thanks, Radiohead.
You can't compare the two cause they are so different...I love them both
Yessss! Knew you’d feel this!! I sure do- grabs you and just kind of mesmerizes you- ❤️✨
I’m so happy for you that you got to experience that for the first time! You deserve that because you go into this with such an open mind and that’s wonderful!
Hi Jay im alan from Scotland,I'm totally into rock, Ac Dc my fav band but this song is so true to everyone of us in life, but we all are special in our own way;and the people that know us,they know me and love me;and I can tell you and your family and friends feel the same about you, stay safe and enjoy every day of your life!🙂Luv 2 u n everybody in this hard world1🙂
Thom Yorke left it all out there on the stage. I know how he felt.
Great reaction.
You should check out more Radiohead! They were just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2019. An amazing catalogue of music.
Jayy - Meet Thom Yorke, Lead Singer of Radiohead, and of course the great band - Jonny Greenwood guitar, Ed O'Brien guitar, Colin Greenwood bass, Philip Selway drums. I'm so happy you made it here. I was one of those requesting you see the original. Radiohead are tied with 4 other groups (LZ, PF, BS, Tool) for my favorite groups. I suggest Street Spirit (Japan version), Letdown (Lollapalooza Chicago 2016). Trust me. 🙂
Oooh, this is a goodie! Always You’ll enjoy! 🥰✌️✨
Welcome to the best band ever, and I don't say that without some internal conflict. Was waiting for you to find out about Radiohead! So much for you to explore over the years.
I've heard many covers of Creep...Radiohead blow them all out of the water by a country mile
I appreciate your real reaction to one of my favorite songs. Bless you and greetings from Los Angeles :)
Great honest reaction. This band was all over the map, stylistically, but always honest about their approach to it. In some ways I think that they are a throwback to the roots of rock and roll- teenage angst in a harder, grunge form.

Thanx for the Holiday set you made for all to enjoy. And I was surprised how much it touched you. Ie Creep song!! I felt the same way 1st time I heard it!
The deeper into the Radiohead rabbit hole you go, the more you will think, why have I not been here before?
The journey is incredibly worthwhile.
Check out Blackstar and fake plastic trees from the Bends album; Bones and Just are two of my favorites from this album.
Every album they have made has incredible tracks.
Let’s go on a journey.
I always have to listen twice. The first time i am singing. The second time, i am watching you react. Lol.
Love this girl. She gets it ))
Thank you for reacting to this, your facial expressions are priceless! ❤
I love this song so much. Radiohead is amazing. 💜💜💜
Oh, and I love your hair! 💜
You do these reactions the right way in my opinion. You don't pause the songs much, the volume between your voice and the music is equal, and you save most of your comments until the song is through. Great hair, great set, wonderful passion for music.
This is one of Radioheads best tunes.. If you like softer: Karma Police.. Fake Plastic Trees.. No Surprises.. Reckoner.. Great reaction, cheers
Your on a roll today lass. I like both versions too. Radiohead aren't my favourite band but their live shows are immense. Keep it up Jayy, you're making an auld noiseboy very happy.
Enjoy the rest of the festive season and stay safe.
No comparison with PMJ - they retro-fit standards, and though well sung, they're just pastiches.
This original version is peerless and an all-time classic...
ya all respect to PMJ, but that is dead on. In the end they are just replicating someone else's greatness.
Lol I was today years old when I found out someone had the AUDACITY to try and cover this.
I haven't heard it but I already know it can't POSSIBLY live up to the original
I’m sorry but Pmj version is absolutely garbage, they sanatised the lyrics and destroyed the whole concept of the message
I cry everytime I hear this!! Not sure why, but I do! I'm 63 years old and it's true!
Yes I agree fiddelsticking great 😁🤗
Great reaction. Subbed. I was in high school the first time I heard this song, it was like the anthem of my teen angst. If you want to check out some more Radiohead, I recommend The National Anthem, How To Disappear Completely, and Everything In Its Right Place. Love.
The video for Creep was shot here in Oxford in a club called The Zodiac. It's gone now, there's another O2music venue.
Btw I live in Abingdon, where Radiohead formed.
Why the Hell was i no longer subscribed to your channel Jay. I missed you. This is a great song for you to review. This mans pain is real and that is why this song when they did it live at that outdoor stadium he has tears rollibg down his face while yelling "runnnnnnnn!" You have to seek out this particular live performance Jay it will blow your mind.
I'm glad you did the uncensored version. It's a raw emotion song that hits home with anyone that's felt that way about someone and the softer word, "very," doesn't rip your guts out like the F word does. And that f'n guitar!
I, like you, love Haley and PMJ version but it's meant more as a stylistic showcase of her voice and the creativity of the band putting modern songs to early music styles. Nothing wrong with that, very entertaining and interesting but the original is more visceral and even chilling because of the desperation and pain in his voice makes you wonder what in the hell is gonna do?
They do are great version of this song live at Glastonbury. I can't remember what year !
you should watch them sing it live, its such an amazing song, and comes across totally different.
This came out when I was in high school. It was an anthem to my youth.
