Here are a few tips to accompany this handy guide! Anyone that wants to level up quickly with these skills and have not yet got access to any uniques or specialized levelling gear can do this cheap by using a couple of basic vendor recipes: Spellcasters levelling with Ice Nova/Fire Trap/Flame Blast make use of the recipe for crafting a scepter with +1 to gems of the right element. Selling to a vendor gives these items: 1 blue scepter (or wand) and 1 cold resistance ring plus 1 Orb of alteration => 1 blue scepter with +1 to cold gems (Ice Nova) 1 blue scepter (or wand) and 1 fire resistance ring plus 1 Orb of alteration => 1 blue scepter with +1 to fire gems (Fire Trap/FB) Put the gem in the +1 socket! Physical damage dealers like Spectral Throw casters make use of the recipe for crafting a weapon with increased physical damage. Selling to a vendor gives these items: 1 weapon and 1 Rustic Sash plus 1 Blacksmith whetstone => 1 blue weapon with increased physical damage. (A blue or rare rustic sash gives even higher numbers) All of these recipes are very powerful for any levelling character. And they are super cheap! Try to get a pair of boots with movement speed right away. Check the vendor as soon as you get to town or try to use an Orb of Transmutation on a pair. It increases levelling speed a lot by... well moving faster. This is a bit technical but because there are fewer different stats that can appear on a level 1 or 2 item than say a level 10 it is much easier to get movement speed specifically very early on. Obviously you still want to replace the boots if you find a pair of better ones along the journey. Anyway, hope that helps somebody sometime. My 50c.
i liked infernal blow linked with melee splash, it was hilarious how all enemies around me (almost all visible on the screen) were exploding almost instantly. because of the splash not only one mob dies with single hit, so we have at least 2-3 explosions which were killing more mobs, creating more explosions. so i hit 2-3 times, and everything around me, even mobs that i never hit dies in a bloody explosion. as i said hilarious. i was building an weapon elemental dmg build so it kept increasing in dmg. adding weapon elemental dmg gem also helped :) at least in early game.
Guys if you like these videos, please do me the favour of sharing it on your social media network sites such as Facebook, Twitter or whatever you prefer. Doing that is the single most effective way for my channel to grow and you would be helping me A LOT. I appreciate you guys being here and thank you for your support! :)
Searing bond does NOT benefit from increased elemental or fire damage. The only thing that effects it is totem damage or burning damage. Great video though thanks. (unless its been changed recently)
I use a strange combo: fire trap + poison arrow + puncture. Poison arrow is very strong in my opinion. It's chaos, so it goes thought shield, aoe, and does damage while you're dodgeing/running. It's most useful against white mobs, and hard enemies. Against blue mobs, fire trap+poison arrow is sufficient. Puncture can be used against hard enemies, and it goes well with the running around nature of poison arrow. It's good for any trappers, bow users, projectile attack users or physical damage dealers, because whatever you scale on the tree it will make you stronger. This way your using multiple skills that complement each other rather than supports on a single skill. It might not be the most efficient, but it's a lot of fun.
I personally use Frost Blades, and link it to LMP. Provides good single target and group damage all in one, and benefits from increases to cold, elemental, physical, projectile, and melee damage, as the skill is made up both of the melee attack and the projectiles that attack spawns.
Infernal Blow- Facebreaker-Meginords Its alittle expensive to setup, it takes about 15 chaos total, but it is well worth it. But the damage is just insane, support Infernal Blow with melee splash and multistrike, add life on hit, life leech, faster attacks, or added fire if you have a 4l to put it in, you can easily transition to most melee builds with it, or you can run with it in the endgame by picking up either Abyssus or Bringer of Rain helmets.
For me it's casual ancestral protector. If i'm leveling any sort of melee weapon based build. link it with AOE melee damage + added cold/fire + increased attack speed(later on, when 3links are common). The beauty of the skill is multiple. First, it helps you survive as enemies sometimes agro the totem and not you. Second, the totem gives 40% attack speed so immediately any skill you use with it becomes more enjoyable. Lastly, oh boy the damage. Since this totem scales with you weapon in the same way that your primary skill does you can effectively double your damage.
Great guide for newer players! Just a tip, don't use Conc Effect of Flameblast. The AoE if just way to small to kill any large mob packs. Either of the added elemental damage gems or added chaos is much better as it is multiplied by the 110% more spell damage modifier on FB
I honestly feel like if you charge up the flameblast and know how to predict the monsters movement pattern then conc effect is by far the best choice, however if one doesn't know that. I would probably go with faster casting or spell echo :)
Hey Lift ... great video, as usual! Thank you. I always use Ice Nove and Fire Trap, per your earlier video for beginners. Flameblast wasn't on that video, but when it came my way, I quickly became a fan ... I have a question about Searing Bond, which I agree is quite powerful on its own. However, in one of your videos you show the flame linked to two totems, creating a "triangle of death" ... The spell mentions the link with totems, but when I cast the spell with two different totems, there was no connection ... either the Searing Bond cancelled the totem, or the totem cancelled the spell ... what am I missing, or doing incorretly?
best way to scale fire trap, flameblast and searing bond is to craft a sceptre with +1 to lvl of fire gems. just vendor blue sceptre with orb of alternation and ruby ring. you can do it with wands also but sceptres can have up to 20% increased ele dmg making them better than wands
Would you recommend the newer Glacial Cascade as a good leveling skill as well? I find that taking spell damage nodes and equipment makes it deadly enough to burn through both generic mobs and uniques, even without any links at all.
LiftingNerd Gaming i tried both of them and i feel like i had smoother leveling experience with glacial cascade just because it has a higher range than lightning tendrils
You neglected 'Static Strike', which is highly effective for both elemental based and physical based builds. Using Multistrike and Faster Attacks makes this an amazingly effective power for clearing mobs. To make it further Overpowered, use the unique mace 'Brightbeak' - allowing over three attacks per second (linked with multistrike; over nine 'hits' with the weapon per second).
What about leap slam with 2h axe/2h mace and vengeance? Youre jumping right through the game and end up in merciless in like 7-8 hours. Its good in endgame too, I have a level 86 Marauder with Kaoms primacy and still just need 1 jump for trash mob packs at level 74 maps. Think all those people playing melee D:
Aba Daba Aba Daba And yea I also want to add that leap slam builds on Duellist was the stuff that made Helman be the fastest one ever to kill Piety and Merveil and all. Its like the only gem that kills huge packs in a minimum time while you are able too move and hit at the same time without being too fast for seeing the drops or having no control at all like with Flicker Strike. Leap Slam + Melee Physical + added Fire + Weapon Elemental Damage + Hatred and/or Herald of Ash Aura has godlike speed all the game long.
Super new to the game and have been using Dual Strike and Lacerate on a shadow to GREAT effect .... that and herald of ice has a HUGE AOE damage adding splash damage support on dual strike makes it rip through packs of monsters in giant blue explosions of frozen body parts while also simultaneously adding the freezing effect to lacerate as well So both skills work in tandem making my character both melee AND if things get too hairy ... short ranged ... I've torn through act 1,2,3, and 4 with no deaths and currently .. at the start of act 5 sitting at 2.2k dps on dual strike 1.6k dps on lacerate and 1.5k hp with maxed resistances ... and this is all self found stuff.. I haven't traded a single thing to anyone.. I may be new but I call this SUPER cheap, easy, and effective build
Though with poe it's learning curve is extremely steep already 😏 I have to say out of all the poe help videos on RUclips yours are really great straight to the point not to long and Im not left confused still like alot of other channels.
You need to update this video brother. I'm at L55 and really struggling with a ES/life based witch which I plan to respec to CI/claw/Lighting Strike/Blade Furry build at around L72.
Isn't Concentrated Effect mediocre with Flameblast since Flameblast already gives a significant chunk of "more damge" and it nerfs your area of effect? I think Faster Casting or Added Chaos Damage would be much better.
I thought more multipliers were additive with each other, and only multiplicative with increased multipliers. But I guess I was wrong, the wiki states that a Remote Mine and a Concentrated Effect would multiply together.
Conc effect is the best damage boost for any AoE spell. Added chaos is really bad (for flameblast) since flameblast only has one hit. You mainly use added chaos with spells that fire multiple projectiles, so each projectile gets the bonus, and your shotgun damage drastically increases
Spell echo on flameblast allows you to cast faster than a simple faster casting gem. But it's a bit more difficult to obtain (i believe i got mine from catarina)
***** Yes, Spell Echo is better, but you don't get it until Act III Merciless. I know some new players don't like to trade if they can avoid it. CountGregorius Well, you're right, but for the wrong reason. It's not about how fast an attack hits but how much base damage it contributes in relation to the main skill's base damage. That tell's you whether it would be more efficient to scale the spell's damage or add damage to it. I didn't realize Flameblast had 50% damage effectiveness on the gem, I thought it was 100%. That means that the base damage Added Chaos adds is only 34%. Incinerate on the other hand gets 83% additional base damage form Added Chaos because it hits so slow, even though the gem has 30% damage effectiveness.
What are greatest cold spells? I find my Ice nova, Freeze pulse, Frost weaker and weaker with each new area and I only beat Piety at the end of 3rd Act at my first playthrough. ._.
Ice nova is no longer a quest reward for killing hillok for the templar, tried twice as i thought id just got it wrong. anywhere alse i can get it early up to date? Or should i just try something else?
yeah, ut it seems that any gems i buy are leveled to tu level of my highest simmilar spell, . do i have to level a new char to whatever level i get the skill at for eack lvl 1 gem i want? thats ok for ace nova, got it now but a pain for higer lvl gems i want
I like leveling with Rain of arrows because it requires you to stutterstep. Funny how none of the skills you mentioned are good for physical bow users (fire trap alone without any passives that increase the damage or utility isn't that great). Guess spells/spec throw still are a bit too good.
flameblast+conc effect for power lvling... I wouldn't say that, you lose too much aoe. Flame blast+added lightning is great! the added lightning is modified by the MORE multiplier from fb as well. for power lvling on a lifesprig: flameblast+spell echo+fire pen. btw do I see a shadow crit st build :O
+Wiremu Beazley The Templar, Witch, Shadow and Scion all get Ice Nova as a quest reward for starting "The Siren's Cadence" quest. Once you enter the Cavern of Wrath, go through the waypoint and talk to Nessa at Lioneye's Watch.
Lightning trap whenever I level up a shadow trapper. Such a huge aoe effect and with the shadow, you can get it after merveil as a quest reward, or you can buy it from a vendor as a shadow, witch, or ranger. Add multiple traps to it and you can clear entire rooms with ease. I actually prefer it to fire trap by several magnitudes because of how efficient it is. Fire trap kind of forces you to kite enemies onto the burning ground whereas you just throw down a single casting of lightning trap (especially with multiple traps and later with cluster traps) and everything is dead. A great strategy is to run past mobs, then as they cluster together, throw lightning trap and keep running as they die. Level up with karui ward and wanderlust and your clear speed is pretty nutty at low levels. Other favorite leveling skill is infernal blow with melee splash. Hit one enemy and watch the whole mob clustered with it die. Very fun to level with.
dennis abrahamsson high mana regen. its possible to stack tonnes woth the right gems & skills (dont ask me which) it was a liftignerd or aziggyd vid i think, rightous fire build)
+dennis abrahamsson Its not high mana regen. If you look closely you can see his health going down a little bit everytime he uses it. This indicates him using blood magic- a gem which makes you use blood instead of mana.
I feel like this is a joke. These all suck in my experience leveling with them, flameblast is a pain in the ass to level with. Searing bong is the only one ive ever had a good leveling experience with
Here are a few tips to accompany this handy guide!
Anyone that wants to level up quickly with these skills and have not yet got access to any uniques or specialized levelling gear can do this cheap by using a couple of basic vendor recipes:
Spellcasters levelling with Ice Nova/Fire Trap/Flame Blast make use of the recipe for crafting a scepter with +1 to gems of the right element. Selling to a vendor gives these items:

1 blue scepter (or wand) and 1 fire resistance ring plus 1 Orb of alteration => 1 blue scepter with +1 to fire gems (Fire Trap/FB)
Put the gem in the +1 socket!
Physical damage dealers like Spectral Throw casters make use of the recipe for crafting a weapon with increased physical damage. Selling to a vendor gives these items:
1 weapon and 1 Rustic Sash plus 1 Blacksmith whetstone => 1 blue weapon with increased physical damage.
(A blue or rare rustic sash gives even higher numbers)
All of these recipes are very powerful for any levelling character.
My 50c.
Very good advice HabaHaba!
As a matter of fact I have just made a video today showing off some of the recipes you mention :)
Big help! Thanks!
It did

What do you think of the flicker strike blood rage combo thingy?
Very nice video btw :)
Thank you zset! :)
Flicker strike is pretty awesome along with blood rage, I wouldn't recommend it for leveling though :)
Searing bond does NOT benefit from increased elemental or fire damage. The only thing that effects it is totem damage or burning damage. Great video though thanks. (unless its been changed recently)
Searing bond is affected by: burning, fire elemental and totem nodes.
Spell damage is the only that doesn't influence its damage.
i never even knew that the gems were abilities i just used to sell em for cash
I use a strange combo: fire trap + poison arrow + puncture. Poison arrow is very strong in my opinion. It's chaos, so it goes thought shield, aoe, and does damage while you're dodgeing/running. I really like poison arrow myself, especially if you can get a 2-3+ bow weapon skills item to put it in :)
Been playing on and off since beta, just wanna say this even taught me some things! Thanks for the videos boss, keep em coming.
Thanks a lot Chris, glad to hear they are of use :)
I personally use Frost Blades, and link it to LMP. Provides good single target and group damage all in one, and benefits from increases to cold, elemental, physical, projectile, and melee damage, as the skill is made up both of the melee attack and the projectiles that attack spawns.

Nice video! On which mission can u get that dash ability, or mark of the assasin?
I like using frost blades as it spreads a lot after hitting something, I will try that spectral throw levelling.
Once you hit Cruel, Arc starts wrecking.
Recommend getting +1 to lightning gems using the vendor recipe , it speeds things up lots.
Summon raging spirit is my personal favorite! These are incredible skills too
For spell/elemental character, I ususally use Fire Totem and Magma Orb + LMP. Pretty cool ~
I would also suggest Glacial Cascade. The dps tool tip is not right, as it hits more than once. use it till lvl 50. Spell echo help greatly.
For me it's casual ancestral protector. If i'm leveling any sort of melee weapon based build. link it with AOE melee damage + added cold/fire + increased attack speed(later on, when 3links are common). The beauty of the skill is multiple.

Lastly, oh boy the damage. Since this totem scales with you weapon in the same way that your primary skill does you can effectively double your damage.
Glacial cascade is pretty potent for leveling if you pick up spell damage or ele damage nodes.
Need one guide of this for Betrayal,Nerd... what you think about it? thanx for share, mate.
Great guide for newer players! Just a tip, don't use Conc Effect of Flameblast. The AoE if just way to small to kill any large mob packs. Either of the added elemental damage gems or added chaos is much better as it is multiplied by the 110% more spell damage modifier on FB

i think that sunder+ herald of ashe+ any damage support=op, also if u use the three heralds at the same time, the damage increases a lot.
OH in other news.. off topic but.. I have picked up 4 vaal orbs so far.. what should I save them for?
Hey Lift ... great video, as usual! Thank you. I always use Ice Nove and Fire Trap, per your earlier video for beginners. +olivia heart you need dual totem passive.
+lelcetz Thanks for the tip; I will get the dual totem!
+Tevan Pinrut Just read this, Tev ... thanks for the head's up!
what's the skill you used in the searing bond 5:58 that looks like a boomerang?
It is spectral throw with the seraph skin :)
thought it was something else. thanks. :)
Balmung Gram I know right, when I was looking at the buzzsaw build, I was like: OMG this "buzzsaw" skill looks so cool is it a new skill?
best way to scale fire trap, flameblast and searing bond is to craft a sceptre with +1 to lvl of fire gems. just vendor blue sceptre with orb of alternation and ruby ring. you can do it with wands also but sceptres can have up to 20% increased ele dmg making them better than wands

It is okay yea. Lightning tendrils is probably an even better skill :)

You forgot Frost Blades and Sunder... these gems are awesome.
Bit late but, not sure they existed when this video was made.

i usualy lvl up with freezzing pulse and a spell totem with someting to help in bosses
Infernal blow. Like it from the very beginning
how about Vaal Ground Slam for marauder?
Ice nova is no longer a quest reward for killing hillok for the templar, tried twice as i thought id just got it wrong. anywhere alse i can get it early up to date? Or should i just try something else?

benzohype buy a gem from a player for 1alch/alt,
arbitrary note: somehow, ele reflect effect was almost purple on your video, it's more blue in my client. odd.
I like leveling with Rain of arrows because it requires you to stutterstep. Funny how none of the skills you mentioned are good for physical bow users (fire trap alone without any passives that increase the damage or utility isn't that great). Guess spells/spec throw still are a bit too good.
What about ground slam? I just started playing and that's by far the strongest one I have.
i like firestorm :)
i like arrow rain personaly or tornado shot+ multiple projectiles
does LMP effect ethereal knives ?
I've been told multi trap firestorm and flame totem is the fastest way to level other than facebreaker.
1.) Stage Nr1. - Flame Totem + Fire Storm
2.) Stage Nr2. Minions + Decoy totem = No reflect GG
flameblast+conc effect for power lvling... I wouldn't say that, you lose too much aoe. Flame blast+added lightning is great! the added lightning is modified by the MORE multiplier from fb as well. for power lvling on a lifesprig: flameblast+spell echo+fire pen. btw do I see a shadow crit st build :O
Flameblast+ conc effect + increased aoe + added chaos. This is what works for me. :D
What you saw nirorit was a st, coc, ek build :)
What about lightning tendrils? it pretty much insta kills everything in a huge arc
Lightning tendrils wasn't out when I made this video. It is an awesome skill for leveling indeed! :)
Ooh I just got the game not long ago. I did find your videos very helpful, thx
No probs man, and thanks! :)
what is that movement skill youve been using
Manly Mage it was whirling blades
my searing bond / firelink totem just lasts for 8 secs
what did i do wrong? :D
im a newb btw concerning poe
i wasn't playing back then but i guess blade vortex didn't exist because it's bloody insane haha
How do I level up a summoner efficiently?
Poison Arrow is OP in the early/mid game
hey guys new update makes it take lvl 11 for use for ice nova
where do you get ice nova from?!
Ball lightning, increased critical, reduced mana, increased area effect.
Wild strike, sunder, frost blades
what about SRS
Very fun to level with.
what about caustic arrow?
Glacial cascade is really strong as well
True, and so is freezing pulse! :)
Spark+flame totem/split arrow
ᕙ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ᕗ SEARING BOND FOR PRESIDENT ᕙ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ᕗ
poison arrow you wont need much and you can just keep going :P
you're a beast
lightning arrow and LMP
Lighting trendils+added lighting damage+ increased accuracy
Lightning tendrils is awesome yea. Increased accuracy doesn't work with spells though :)
Is this still viable?
Flame totum xD
Rain of arrows!
facebreakers FTW
No lightning skills? :(
Is this stuff a llittle out of date at this point?
Hi ! Why does none of your skills cost any mana to use ? That would be really helpful while leveling, if skills were free :D
dennis abrahamsson high mana regen. its possible to stack tonnes woth the right gems & skills (dont ask me which) it was a liftignerd or aziggyd vid i think, rightous fire build)
+dennis abrahamsson Its not high mana regen. If you look closely you can see his health going down a little bit everytime he uses it. This indicates him using blood magic- a gem which makes you use blood instead of mana.
MrModSlayer Thank you for taking the time expaining !
dennis abrahamsson Sry that its so l8 but i just read threw this and just couldnt resist.
I still appriciate the helpfulness, its the thought that counts, brother.
Goed accent man.
My lost in love quest is bugged
mine too, think is a general bug. The quest stays active even when completed
Ahh yes I wondered what that was all about.
patch notes: in case u lose the keys "accidentally" u can get another one
HarDarkable yes... but that means the quest never completes, it's a bug IMHO
I feel like this is a joke. These all suck in my experience leveling with them, flameblast is a pain in the ass to level with. Searing bong is the only one ive ever had a good leveling experience with
700th like!!!!!!!
searing bond provides boring gameplay but hey its efficient!
