That sound makes me remember when I was a Kid and heard my first Harley. Just wonderful!
Simplicity has such a way of being beautiful
Well put. 883 stripped to its essence. Less parts than a push lawn mower from Wal Mart. Although an Arlon Ness BIG SUCKER would def bump up the torque a little. That breather looks restrictive some.
ABSOLUTELY
Very nicely designed bike.. I especially appreciate the contrast in paint between the tank, seat, and rear fender.
I'm not fond of ironhead sportsters, but you did this engine justice! This is a beautiful build. Keep up the great work!
Very nice build..You have inspired me to dig the 9 milk crates of my '72 ironhead project out of the shed and build it.
THAT Is a nice lil bike! Starts good sounds good clean simplistic. Great lil Pub runner. Eye appealing Just right.
beautiful.clean, love the way the dual disc front end starts the front end and the bike just flows back.excellent
Take a bow Leonardo!!! That is art.
Fantastic machine. I think you have it idling around 600 or maybe 550 rpm. I know the engine will run at 450 rpm. However, anything below 900 rpm is not good for the big end bearings of the connecting rods. The engine jerks the bearings to strongly at low rpm. If you like to rebuild engines then continue the 550 rpm, it sure sounds sweet to my ear.
Have you ever noticed the rubber pucks in the rear "cush drive". The rubber is there because an all metal rear drive can transmit shock waves via the final drive chain or belt that sends the shock of contact metal on metal back to the con-rods big ends and lead to early failure.
It's probably dumb to argue with a 5 yr old post, but what you said is an old wives tale.
The stresses on the crank and big end at idling (even jerky idling) is MANY times less than the normal stresses exerted on the crank and rods at higher RPMs, especially high power output high rpms like hard acceleration.
Sorry but it is just not true, you can set the idle as low as you like.
Also, there is another old wives tale about top end oil pressure being too low at low rpm idling, this is also not true. The top end rockers at low rpm barely need any oil at all. Many farm harleys used in water pumps run for decades with no oil pump system, the farmer just squirts an oil can in the top of fhe engine every couple of weeks and it dribbles through and out the bottom. Low rpm, low power use is extremely gentle and barely needs a whiff of oil. Engine wear and damage occurs at high rpms, especially with high torque loads at high rpms.
Get over yourselves..... Its an old bike.... I'd bet you are so old your hearing is goosed anyway! 😜
I've watched this video 163000 times it's inspired me so much I went out and bought myself a 75 Ironhead Kickstart only and in the middle of building a bike pretty similar to this mine has a bit of differences like a white wall back tire and a Springer front end so on and so on but the same idea and a lot of the same parts I just want to say thanks for the awesome video it's inspired me to build my own
Man that sounds as good as it looks !!
The color of the tank and seat are beautiful. The rake is what I prefer and the controls setting midway compliment that spring seat.
This will be my next built only with a Springer frontend.
Awsome bike.
That's a real bike, not like the garbage you see on TV shows..Thats a rider right there and looks dope!!
very very clean and mean looking !
Perfect I dig the overall clean looks, great job!
Beautiful bike. More motor than bike.
This is art a piece of American history tanks for showing kick ass work on this beautie
Absolutely Outstanding!
badass low iron head,
Absolutely beautiful, love it.
Nice lil bike, less is more to me especially when it shows off that engine art.
Yup, you said it!
Just picked up a crusty 77 iron head. This is my inspiration..
Does yours have both elect start and kick start?
@@gregd.88 kick start only…. Motor is a 73 xlch right hand shift. Which works fine because I’m going to minimize the wire harness with a generator mounted regulator and a little 12v gel battery. Only need two lights and maybe some LED turn signals. 😎
Beautiful!
Bloody. Beautiful.
sweet bike - sounds good, looks good - love the fact that it has triple disc brakes!
Nice looking sporty I own a 74 last year of the left hand shift, 74cubies ,super e, what a blast to build and ride did for 12yer ridge frame the only thing would add to this bike is Fish tails, makes good on car alarms!
5:34 you're welcome
Ty
Boy, no kidding... Thanks!
Not all heroes wear capes 😂
Gracias Homes..
hey serj i have somthing important to tell you............... table🤣🤣🤣
Great color combo.
I use to live right across the street from that Harley dealership.
Perfect town bike. Sweet. Simple. Good brakes. Sounds like plenty of go.
way cool sportster! just finished a 38 UL. think ill build a lil 900 next
Damn it, I love that bike! Near perfect, just need to match that fender up with the can.
I like that he used a modern cv carburetor. Gives that old bike a little more rock solid reliability
Building a 84 iron head , should I use the s&s carb that came with it when I bought it or use a newer one ? Like a 93 sporster ?
Absolutely perfect
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
Nice, very impressive!
I love your bike style is awsum 👍🤘🤘
Love how sleek and thin a sportie is.. that shot from the rear is fantastic! If not for the carb/air cleaner sticking out the side it would be pencil thin! Please tell me where you got that rocker bolt/oil pressure gauge mount!? That would look so nice on my 76 Ironhead!
Great looking scooter. Thanks
Gorgeous
What a beautiful bike !
Swiss perfection, everything is right.
Cool bike man.
Who ever built this bike I'm just speechless perfection at its finest 👌
Well done machine.
Wooooooow! Beautiful bike,!
You simply can’t beat the sound of an ironhead with drag pipes. Miss the hell out of mine, If it’s NOT slingin oil you have a problem lol

Best sounding motorcycle iron head
A shovel head is
That's what I'm talkin bout!!! Nice bike!!!
I like the color. Something different. Nice.
Magnifique.....!!!
Oh, sorry I'm late! I'd like to take delivery of my bike now. Just drop it round to my place. Cheers 👍
Beautiful bike! One of the prettiest I've ever seen. Simplicity rules! Just one "but": you chop a bike to leave it this neat... and put on a chain guard? Come on, man!!!
chain guard stops oil from covering your leg
I like that Harley it is nice and simple the seat the backfinder everything is just right like that I would like to have a bike just like that
Sick bike
I would betA true piece of art
I like how he did the rearview mirror
I have mine like that, its not practical at all, I cant see shit lol I just have it for inspection
Gorgeous build!!! Ive watched this video many times. Trying to figure out the rear tire. Mind sharing the tire brand and size? Im assuming its a Firestone but what model and size?
This beauty prooves that less is more.

Laury Lafluer: Sorry, but, you are in error, in stating that the bike shown, at least, on this video is a Shovelhead. The bike shown is indeed an Ironhead, Sportster. You can see the right hand final, chain drive, whereas, the big Twin Shovelheads, had a left hand final chain drive. You can also see the smaller primary drive on the right side, on this Sporty, as opposed to the larger primary drive housing, on the big Twin Shovelheads. The Cylinders or barrels where indeed made of Iron, and the Heads, where made of aluminum. The two different metals, expanded and contracted, with heat, at different rates, and were thus, known to cause oil leakage, on the base gasket, and thereby, "marked their territory."Just saying.
they are called Ironheads because of the heads being iron, but they are still a shovelhead Sportster with same style rocker cover as the big twin shovelhead. Shovelhead and Ironhead is just nicknames but big twin and Sportster were considered Shovelheads. some even call them ironshovels
tomcata1467
Apology accepted.
Some call ironheads shovelhead sportsters. I don't know how correct is that... somehow I remember that shovelhead nickname was to just for big twins, but we should remember that shovelhead valvebox is a copy of sportster, not vice versa. Sportster ironhead valve cover was born in 1957 or -56, whereas big twin shovel valvebox was born in -66 or -67, so ten years later
Walffle Irons
there's multiple signs to show differences, your rocker boxes on a iron head and a shovel are totally different laury lafleur is a idiot.
The ironhead was a Harley-Davidsonmotorcycle engine, so named because of the composition of the cylinder heads (Iron instead of Aluminium). The engine is a two-cylinder, two valves per cylinder, pushrod V-twin. It was produced from 1957 until 1985 and was replaced by the Evolution engine in 1986.
This name was applied to the Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycles that used this engine.
Perfect
Sweet!
Gruß aus Bayern. Wildes Ding!
Nice bike, great .... I'll take it.
I love 😍this bike man 💪👍👍👍🇩🇰denmark 🇩🇰
Nice stance! what type of rigid frame is that?
righteous sport
Nice frame
6 candle power head light.
Just needs a P pad seat at the end of the rear fender for the little lady, and PRESTO!
Sportster Camper.
badass
Nice
Nice bike ! What frame you running ?
Primordial, Visceral
Clean
Sweet
I wonder about the frame, is it home made or is it from some of the well known frame manufactures out there.
Awesome looking bike! Where did you get that seat???
what frame is this, looks great
I want one
Does it get any better?
I rode iron heads when I was young, they beat the shit out of me ,but I like it.
Cool frame, what is that?
I love the custom work, cant say the same for the sound of the idle though. Honestly, It sounds like the mixture is off some and causing a very rough idle.
Maybe its just me but i think that seat needs more curve in it so you dont always slide off the back.
I love the more slender Harleys..{You can tell I know nothing about them} but they remind me of my youth, when they were lower to the ground and not all fat looking. I love the look of this one {My son has bought an oldish one from 1976 which he is customising with advice from friends..Lovely to see any cherished bike.
Only thing wrong with this one...No seat to give Mum a ride {maybe that was the intention!}
Rear wheel and tire what size sir?
nicE..!
What is the handlebar or what are the measures. thanks
Switzerland? this bike would be a fortune
What's the weight on this bike ?
Sweet sportster
