@@mattglad I ended up buying a Lenovo 100e 2nd Gen. Not the best specs, but perfect for travel and super durable. This model is actually for students, but bumped up with the best specs possible. It's probably not as good as the Dell in this review, but I needed something durable with good amount of ports.
MrPanzerDragoon its not about best specs at that form factor! As long as it does what you need it to! Lenovo and Dell both seem to have a better track record than HP on that front!
The spec says RAM can be upgraded to 8GB (single slot), which I've shown here. I haven't tried 16GB as I don't have any to use and didn't want to buy just to try out. Might be possible, but there is only one slot (so no dual channel) and CPU is weak; hence, it might be pointless anyways. Storage can NOT be upgraded - is is soldered to the mobo and there are no SATA ports. Best option (I think) is to supplement it with a microSD. Switching out of S mode is easy and can be done using the MicroSoft Store App.
Can you do this for the dell inspiron 3168,?? i have 2gb i just bought it and already its telling me memory is running low. Lol i didn't even do anything yet
Handy video, but ALWAYS disconnect the battery before changing components! I did this upgrade using the Dell service manual and also upgraded the wireless card from the N300 to an AC1900+ BT 4.0, then added the fastest micro SD card I could find. It helped with the web browsing but this laptop is still a turd.
Hi,Ronnbot I have the same laptop the dell insprion 11 3195 im just wondering is it good for school. i've tried CS:GO on it and to my suprise the 4 gb ram was overused and the AMD A9 cpu was fried it runs 50-60 fps on minecraft
I want to try and increase my performance on my laptop. I'm going to upgrade it to 16 gb and add more graphic support and hard drive support. I will tell you about my experience when I upgrade it.
Took out the screws, unclipped the edges, something is holding it together in the middle and it won't come apart. Ideas? Do I have to take some screws out on the keyboard side?
@@marquitamontgomery1302 just pull quickly. Turns out there's a center clip that comes apart easily. When pulling slowly it appears something could break. One of my 3195 systems has been upgraded. Also note, the THREE screws along the back side are different lengths and could ruin the other holes. They are also not to be removed, only loosened. Dell has a service manual online that explains exactly what to do.
i dont know if someone can response this but i got the dell inspirion 11 3000series but with the Celeron version, i wonder if i can upgrade the ram and replace the hdd for a ssd?

@@charlesdean03 The A9-9420e is only capable of handling 8GB. Even Crucial won't suggest putting in more, and nearly every PCl I've upgraded with Micron DDR4 is capable of more RAM than manufacturer suggests. This (which my stepdaughter has) and our Inspiron 20 3043 are two exceptions.
Unfortunately no it’s not possible to do that because the processor is soldered to the motherboard so upgrading it would be quite a bit of a challenge and it would be a no go. Therefore you are permanently stuck with the processor you have
I disassembled mine, and it looks like there is something under the ribbon cable that goes to the board with the USB 2 ports and headphone jack, but I have not tried to examine closer underneath there.
What a mistake buying this awful machine. The SSD lasted a little over 2 years. Purchased November 2020. A couple of months ago I started getting hard disk errors. They were "repaired" but 95% of the hard drive was blocked out as errors. So on a machine that had about 2 gigs of files (yes, only 2 gigs) the laptop now has 59 gigs blocked out with 5 gigs remaining free. What an absolute ripoff! Disgraceful.

It doesn't support a hard drive upgrade unless external. Memory max is 8GB per the tech manual.
Let me know how 16GB works. Curious if it will anyway.

Installer not needed. You switch using the MicroSoft Store app, play from 14:30
