Sometimes I'm in the gym for 2.5 to 3 hours when doing 5x5 program, for example I'll do squats, bench press, barbell rows at 5x5 sometimes I'll rest up to 7 mins between sets, then after I might do some triceps and abs. But after such a workout I will rest the day after then go in again the day after.

Great, thanks for the reply! I found a book at my library that is all about the topic. The author talks about how much of what causes adrenal exhaustion and burnout is actually tied to our 'biography' or the way we think and perceive reality, specifically a tendency to 'over-extend' ourselves. Makes me consider my own behavior and tendencies of self-sacrificing when I should be more oriented towards self-preservation.

    • @Feraluce
      @Feraluce 6 лет назад

I find this interesting that the role model of America in this time-period is Jesus Christ, a person who basically sacrificed himself for humanity. It seems to me this mindset is pervasive and is part of the programming that leads to this burnout, thus fueling industries like big pharma, therapy, sugar industry, stimulant industry, etc.

Dear Paul Chek, I finally took the courage to start healing myself after a long period of self-destructive behaviour. I know for sure that I have a parasite and fungal infection in which case your dvd course on that topic would be helpful. The thing is that I find it very hard to stay on a anti-fungal diet because food has been one of the few sources of unconditional love for a long time. Now that I've quit eating garbage I feel incredibly alone and lost. I know you also have resources that might help adressing this. My question is which resource(s) you would recommend starting with.
Thank you for everything you are sharing!

      HI,
You'd probably get A LOT out of my audio/workbook course titled "The 1-2-3-4 For Overcoming Addiction, Obesity, and Disease". It takes you through an inner exploration process, explains what Love is, and how it works in our lives and the world. You can find it at www.chekinstitute.com most likely in the audio section.
When you've eaten enough food to meet the needs of your body, but are still hungry, it is most often because you are experiencing emotional hunger, or emotional fulfillment, but don't realize it and reach for food instead of doing things that give you emotional fulfillment. The same can also be true when one isn't mentally fulfilled.
Try getting clear with yourself as to what satiates you emotionally, and/or mentally and give that to yourself.
As a Medicine Man and Spirit Guide, whenever people come to me for help with health or life challenges, I ask the following questions up front:
      1. When did you stop singing?
      2. When did you stop dancing?
      3. When did you stop enjoying stories?
      4. When did you stop being marveled by the Magic and Mystery of Life?
      5. When did you stop being alone with yourself?
When you look at your own answers to these questions, you can find when your life changed away from these essential ways of living and loving and being Whole, to being diminished or broken within yourself. They also tell you what ways you can heal yourself by doing the things that you are not doing as outlined in the questions.
For people with your profile, getting 30-60 minutes of aerobic exercise at an intensity that would allow you to carry on a conversation several times a week can have very positive effects on your hormonal system and brain. After a month of this, begin alternating between aerobic and resistance training.
      Love and chi,
      Paul Chek

If you watch and listen carefully to what I'm sharing in this video, and in Pt.2, it should become clear that no one can answer that question for you because you are the only one that knows how you feel inside, and how your body-mind is doing each day. Pay attention to the indicators of stress I've outlined, how you feel training each day, and learn to listen to your body-mind and adjust your training accordingly. If you keep feeling less that optimal, it suggests your diet and lifestyle need revision!

Hey Paul! I am an HLC 2 and would greatly appriciate an answer for my question. I was reading my medical files from when i was 12 years old and it shows i had no disc between L4-L5, I remember they said i was born with it. Well my question is, Is it possible to restore discs? And what supplements/lifestyle factors or anything that comes to mind to help me keep an healthy spine throughout my life even if i am at an disatvantage here hehe :) I do practice your HLC 2 teaching and mobilization spine with foamroller everyday but if anything comes to mind when you read my case that may support my life i would be very grateful. Love and chi to you Paul!

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  6 лет назад +2

      HI,
A few things that will help:
      1. Keep well hydrated. The discs are mostly water, and if one gets too dehydrated, the body will draw water from spinal discs to protect the CNS from dehydration. Keeping the rest of your spine in optimal condition/hydration helps keep the tensegrity of the spinal column balanced, allowing greater capacity to compensate for your loos of disc support at L4/5.
      2. Stewing and slow cooking meats so the bones, tendons and cartilage are soft, and eating as much of the tendon and cartilage as you comfortably can gives the body the exact building blocks it needs to restore the same structures.
      3. Eating a high quality jelly gelation (search Amazon for an organic or Kosher source) regularly is a good idea. You can mix it into soups, stews, and even make more desert like foods with it; think of kids gummy bears.
      4. Being careful not to be forceful with that L4/5 segment when mobilizing is wise. The body can take years to stabilize a segment like that, and often uses a process called auto-fusion; the body creates bony outgrowths, and often bone spurs that overlap and interlock to hold the segment still enough not to impinge the spinal cord or nerve roots. If one is too aggressive, you can unleash a dragon! Trust that the body knows what to do, and give it the resources to do it, and keep the rest of your body in optimal function to allow effective compensation.
      5. Be VERY careful about eating any foods that inflame your guts, or you will have disruption of core function due to viscero-somatic reflexes. Once that starts, you can't stabilize effectively, and once again, you invite the dragon.
      6. Keep your adrenals healthy; they reflex right into the quadratus lumborum and hip flexors, and influence the lower abs as well. If they get too taxed, it will shut down all the muscles they reflex to, and leave the door wide open for a spinal injury....
      7. Keep your liver healthy; good to use some regular liver support supplementation and a wide variety of plant sourced nutrition (from organic foods) because glucosamine sulphate is used in the liver's detoxification pathways, and if you don't have enough in your diet, the liver will trigger your body to begin eating its own cartilage to get the molecules to detox your body and protect your CNS and other organs and glands.
      Love and chi,
      Paul Chek

How about how to balance different types of exercise.
    For instance...
I like to strength lift once per week with 1 day targeting legs/core, 1 day chest/biceps, another day back/shoulders/triceps.
But also a cardio once per week (usually not around my leg lifting day)
And Id like to include a whole body plyometric type day, maybe a low intensity muscle balance/stability/coordination day.
I thought about doing my balance/coordination day maybe on the evenings of a regular strength workout day.

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  6 лет назад

In general, your outline is quite good; I would encourage you to put in a day of mobilization, stretching, massage, and body balancing and maintenance so you find and address imbalances before they manifest as symptoms that limit you.
There are a myriad of ways to design an exercise program, but at the end of the day, being aware of how your body-mind is responding and responding accordingly is much more important than any idea of how to train one has in their head, or what is written on paper by some expert....

    Good morning,
Do you have a remedy for someone that cannot squat at all because of weakness and tightness? Do I do step ups, lunges, and wall squats? And what are the best effective stretches to release my obviously dire situation (the inability for a man to squat has dire consequences I assume). Otherwise my day job as a groundsman tree servicing gives excellent exercise. I just need to improve my lower body to end my leg pains, otherwise I’ll be meditating forever and ever and not getting any thing physically done.
    Thank you

      Hi,
There are many potential limitations that alter one's ability to squat properly.
Without a skilled therapist's assessment, all I could do is guess....
If you want to learn a LOT about the squat, how to assess the squat, and how to correct common obstructions to effective squatting, you can study:
      1. Scientific Back Training online or DVD
      2. Squatology: This was available as an online course, and focuses on the squat and related issues. I don't know if its still available, but you can look for it at www.chekinstitute.com in the eLearning section where we offer our online courses.
      3. Either my "Golf Biomechanic's Manual" or the "Tennis Biomechanic's Manual" by Leigh Brandon and I has a lot of essential structural and functional assessments.
      4. My book "How To Eat, Move and Be Healthy!" has a chapter on stretching with 20 stretch tests addressing the most common muscles that get tight, many of which can cause squatting challenges.

Question about event stress, anxiety and performance.
I am an MMA and Jiu jItsu athlete. Fighting MMA can be very intense and with the stress and adrenaline of the occasion can cause me to get tired and rush or force things. I would usually have to frequent the toilet on competition days! Developing spiritually and seeing the bigger picture has been the biggest help for me as I have progressed so much in this regard since I was younger. Any resources on this topic for sport/event performance? Also is there any natural substance that you are aware of that could be taken that could help my body deal with the stress that wouldn’t hurt performance like alcohol would for example. e.g.. Alcohol could help the nerves yes but I wouldn’t want to fight drunk! :) Any audio’s/books/resources? Thank you for your time.

      Hi,
You want to look into "adaptogenic herbs" or "adaptogens". Adaptogens are a class of herbs that help the body deal with stress, and there are a number of them available in caps, powders, teas, etc... A great example of one that I use regularly is "Holy Basil" tea. Get an organic source and try it. A good performance enhancer is Guayusa tea; I use it when I need to do a lot of focused work, or want a little perk up for the gym. It uses a different molecule that is different than caffeine, but isn't addictive.

    Great video paul..
I know that i will be out of topic but i have an important question which stresses me out.
Im 18 and summer is nearby. My intution is telling me that i need rest because it was a tough year. I was studying and did what ever i could to stay healthy (i was always keeping money that my parents gave me for organic food)
And my father is a car mechanic which its his own bussiness. And i really want to help him(in the summer) but the job has toxic chemicals and the energie in his bussines its toxic ( whenever i go there i have pain in my back and knees) its a really toxic enviroment...
So my question is that even if i want to help my father the enviroment there is toxic and also my intution is telling me that i want rest in the summer....
Paul its so hard because my parents dont know how to ask for love and they sometimes munipulate me.
Sometimes my father is making me guilty that i dont help him...and i understand that he hasnt learned to ask for love but i cant stand that.
Im afraid that if i rest my parents will not give me money to shop for food or they will make me feel guilty.
I really want to hear your perspective...

Iron Tom thats why i said i need rest...its not that i want my parents to just give me money and dont do anything. I just want to rest in the summer and do something easy to help them like cleaning the house or something...
And the bigger pain is when you realize that someone isnt there for you and love you CONDISIONALLY.
I never had someone to tell me "we will find i way to support you"
I always had the consept of award or punishment...

Take a few weeks off first, then work there or somewhere else.
I find sometimes if I'm currently exhausted I feel I don't want to do things. Then all it takes is recovery sleep and BOOM, back with ambition. Get your sleep if tired! By not working at all you may develop laziness

You gotta remember too, most of these people don’t know what they’re doing.
And to be honest, most things you do in the gym should pretty much be common knowledge by now. it blows my mind how ignorant people choose to be regardless of the information out there. Like it’s basic stuff but still people won’t do it? I’m scratching my head.

Hi Paul what do you think the reason is for the increase in suicide and mental health among young people these days?
    Love and chi

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  6 лет назад +3

      Hi,
      Here are some reasons:
      - Poor food and water quality
      - Lack of family connection and loss of wise guidance by elders
      - Religious programming that pits people against their bodies, sexual urges, instincts, and creative self expression
      - Excessive identification with academic accomplishments without awareness of what is practical vs. theoretical; premature exposure to mathematical/logical thinking before having time for unbound play, connection to the earth, and creative exploration of fantasy and dreaming
      - Over-exposure to medical drugs and lack of exposure/use of natural healing practices
      - Caught in consumerism and not living a life grounded in play and creativity.
      - Parents having kids as a means of trying to find a way to patch up a dysfunctional relationship
      - Parents more focused on making money than raising their children; massive over-exposure to video games and video media that programs their minds in negative weays
      - Over-exposure to digital technology, which has the effect of diminishing functional integration of the left and right brain hemispheres
      - The over-use of toxic vaccinations that have terrible knock-on effects at all levels of a childl's body-mind.
      - Not enough time in nature or in contact with natural plant and animal life.
      - Too much focus on physical appearance
      - Too much pressure to achieve good grades without parental or educators being aware that only 8% of human beings learn effectively in the mathematical-logical learning style, yet, 95% of all education imparted in school systems at all levels of education is delivered in a mathematical-logical format; this leaves the audio, visual, and kinesthetic dominant children feeling inferior when they don't get high grades, diminishing their self-esteem, when in fact, many of them are geniuses; if they were educated in ways that allow them to learn in their optimal learning style, their whole sense of self would blossom!
      - Over exposure to adult responsibilities before they've had time to be a child, play, and explore the world and themselves....
      - Very high rates of verbal, emotional, mental, physical, and sexual abuse in families worldwide; see "Your Body Keeps The Score" by Basil van der Kolk, MD" for heart wrenching statistics on family violence and sexual abuse!!"
      - Parents that have "no sense of direction in their lives"...
      and more!
      Love and chi,
      Paul Chek
