I just kinda blind bight this and can't wait for it to arrive. I can only vaguely remember the smell of it from one spray on a tester card about 5 years ago. Oooops! This review has kinda helped me remember though! Thanks guys. Awesome review as always. :)
Hi guys. I bought Chergui about 4 months ago and I keep changing my mind about this one. I started out loving it, then on other days it made me naseousa. Today is pretty cold, and i decided to try it again so I gave it a tiny spritz on my arm and like Jer said, it smells warm and comforting. Long story short, I like it...and can see it becoming a favorite but it gotta be worn at the right time. Man, seriously...wearing this stuff on cold weather must be great...I was in Harmburg - Germany when I bought it...and I remember being cold as hell outside. DIdn´t feel cloying at all. Think nice cup of hot coffee, fruit cake, your ass being warmed by a big comfy couch and your loved one sitting right next to you while you guys watch Into the Wild. I mean, DAMN!!!
I bought several decants of this and receive so many compliments when I wear it. Great for work and evening for me. Bottle worthy in my opinion. I am wearing this and Back to Black from by Kilian for the Fall.
This is one of my favourites of all time. A true 10/10. The incense, the honey, the dates, the smokiness, tobacco...there's so much going on. I'm always sniffing my wrist when I have this on. I'm disappointed you didn't enjoy it, but this one is special. I also see you guys loved Pure Havane. That's in my collection too and a brilliant fragrance...but Chergui is a class above. It's artistic.
I actually love this one. I get a lot of hay, also. Not super versatile, but an awesome cold weather cuddling scent, when you're with a lady that likes it, too. Fun to share.
Totally agree with bros. I like it but you are right, very powdery and floral. Not going to be in any of my top lists but I still enjoy wearing it once in a while.
So after watching several reviews with yours being the one that tipped the scale, I went searching on the Internet for this one. Found it on Fragrancenet for around $75...not too bad, right? Let's see if there are any coupons out there...found one for 21% off your entire order. So with free shipping, I picked this one up for $63 USD. So even if it's not a solid home-run, I'm feeling good picking up a bottle for over half off. Even if you all don't love it, is it a definite buy at that price? Great vid guys!
I don't get the hype that was surrounding this frag. It's good but it doesn't blow me away. Just an ok one. Which is why it's selling for dirt cheAp on amazon. I don't get much tobacco at all. Just floral/powdery as all he'll notes. Thank god I just got a sample because I was very underwhelmed with this one. It does last a decent amount of time on me but the overall composition is just mehhhhh. Anyways, another fantastic review guys!
I actually love this one. It's intoxicating in a good way to me, just as Dior Homme (reformulated) is to me. Complex with ingredients I like. Jer - what's Miranda's take on this one?
Great review bros. I agree with you guys that it is very powdery but then again they say it is a woman's fragrance. I get like a syrup like sweetness initially with it and it is more of a dry sweet powdery scent to me. The packaging and bottle for this is really nice though. For those interested I think I saw it on Amazon for under $70 earlier today.
I love Chergui - but spraying it straight on my skin is very situational. Sometimes I really want the whole, undiluted experience, but when I don't, I just spray it in front of me 1 or 2 times and walk through it. This makes it more transparent and it really opens up. It still lasts forever but it comes and goes. Just something to try out for you guys! ;) Cheers.
Chergui reminds me of good tobacco houses, of two in particular, in Rio, downtown Rio, which is old and near the ocean. There is this high quality tobacco in the air, from Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and whiskey, strong spiritis, sometimes beer, jerez, coffee, and sweets, chocolate, candied nuts, or just different nuts. Old walls, and the constant change of weather, typical of a tropical city, warm, and relaxed. It does not smell polished like tobacco vanille, but there is still a softness to it, in the drydown, that makes it a fragrance that women can pull out, somehow, so it is strangely unissex. I don´t think it is strong, the sillage is not beastly, the thing is that you can feel it on yourself, so you have the impression that everyone can feel it too, but that is not the case, trust me, after one hour, it is a cloud around you and you alone, and when people get near you, to greet you (which, in Brazil, is done by hugging and kissing on both cheeks) you will be noticed, and remembered, as someone very sophisticated, unique. I found that it develops differently on different people, and even on myself, depending on the weather, temperature, so on, so you may be surprised to feel that you love it one day, hate it the next day, and then love it again the day after, and I keep it as one of my favourite fragrances also for that reason, quoting poet Fernando Pessoa, "she gives the surprise of her being", and few fragrances are so whimsical, and so, there it is, I think, that´s how and why this is one of the fragrances that Mr. Sheldrake and Maison Lutens that has gathered such a large fandom.
Hey guys, old video I know, but maybe check out Keiko Mecheri's Les Zazous. It's like a more airy chergui with an herbal lavender edge to it to brighten it up. Cooler bottle, much cooler name.
I'm glad the hay is not too great in this fragrance cause I want to test this fragrance out without being attacked by a horse. Anyway, someone suggested that I layer this with Michael Jordan's legend. I may try it. If you read tell me what you think?
Honestly , I think the scent is overhyped because the ladies love it and you get a lot of compliments from it. I don't think it is that great of a scent considering the hype, but it is still a good one if you smell it without any expectations.
amazing list of notes maybe my number one TOBACCO over TF TOBACCO VANILLE this powerful wall of scent that comes at you like a big warm hug terrific review guys JIM from MIAMI BEACH
I need to smell this. I get what you guys say about the hay note, a lot of times just because of a mention in a note breakdown, people tend to exaggerate and jump to putting emphasis on it and half the time without that preconceived notion, people wouldn't think twice about it.
Yeah test it again. First time u tested it I was with family. Someone blurted out that it smells like baby powder and pointed in my region. From one spray on my hand. Ever since its just by kilian back to baby now. Lol
I'm a woman and I get a lot of honey in this. I think its really appealing because it's comforting, a little dark but also sweet and I'm definitely buying myself a bottle
I have never smelled such an irresistible fragrance like Chergui ❤ Chergui is best fragrance in the world , no doubt ! It has this pithy special incomparable Tunisian fragrance of aesthetic charm that you can only smell in the heart of North Africa .. a fragrance that appeals to all senses ❤ try it and you will fall in love with chergui ❤
I don't get the hay note either. Not a fan of this one. I get a carbonated/fizzy vibe. I know, sounds weird. Bought a bottle from the hype on it a couple years ago, wore it maybe 8 times, they off she went to a new hype-sucker. But seriously, I can see the beauty in it. Just not for me..
Sorry community, but incorrectly described and over-hyped (not by you Fragrance Bros, but by others in the community)--not the first person to say this in some reviews. First, yes, it has tobacco but it's not a tobacco fragrance per se, not like Killian's Back to Black, Costamor Tabacca, Fumerie Turque, or Tabaco Odori as examples where you can unmistakably smell Tabaco as the central note. I don't smell much Tabaco here myself. Overhyped by unfortunately some of the younger reviewers in the community during the last 2-3 years who were impressed by their first incursions into niche perfumery from their designer perfumery experience. Don't misread me, I own this fragrance and it is a good one, but it does not belong to the heights to which it has been taken.
These mules are Americans...what do they know...lol They're cultural upbringing has pretty much lobotomized any chance of correction!.....Such a tasteless arrogance.. ..The American dream, you have to be asleep to believe it!.. Agree with Daver's summary - 3/5 and I understand why people like it, but doesn't blow mw away. Great stuff Bros!
thanks Greggie :)
As always fellows you rose to the occasion and came out smelling fabulous! Your reviews are among the best on the tube!
thank you, sir!

I'm in that camp with Jere. I always get compliments on how good I'm smelling with Chergui. I generally wear it during the cold Fall or Winter months.
I like it! Very blankety! Smells exotic and like a mystery. Great vid fragrance buds!
Totally agree with bros. I like it but you are right, very powdery and floral. Not going to be in any of my top lists but I still enjoy wearing it once in a while.
As I said before when you were gonna split this, Fragnet has it for like $65 almost all the time with a discount code.

Hi Fragrance Bros, nice reviews there! How many bottles are you owning for your collection? Cheers!

i could definitely see it better on a woman. everywhere i saw it listed as a unisex. who knows. lol

that's great advice for those who like this! thanks!
I find it so hard to wear. Living in sub-tropical climate, I can never think of a good time to wear it.

i had no idea you guys didnt review this one till now. i remember this being all the rage about 3 years ago or so.
yep. there are so many hyped frags we have yet to review
Yeah, I don't understand why there is so much love for this one. I think there are so much better releases from the house.
yeah definitely
Such as what?
gtwilliamswashu La Fille De Berlin/Fille En Aiguilles/Daim Blond/L'Eau Froide
/Sa Majeste La Rose are some I like better than Chergui.
I agree, it's the dry down of Givenchy PI.

Great review! yep tried it a few times , nice but at this stage not bottle worthy for me.
You guys are fun! !

Back to Black by Kilian smells just like Johnson's baby powder to me. Exactly!
LOL! i need to go back and resmell it now!

yeah there area far better tobacco frags, even better frags with hay!
This fragrance has not anything special at all...too much floral to my nose.
Id say this review is bordering on CRINGEEEYYYY
Well I guess we need to ask for your approval next time we make a video.
@@FragranceBros Awww, I was only teasing :P
